I am settng up a *very* simple MOSS single server instance to demo
search on existing fileshares - in less than 24 hours(!) - and we have
hit a brick wall.
We made a shared services instance and configured it to crawl and
existing fileshare.
It tells us it has 247,000 documents have been indexed (and its still
going) but whatever search term we enter into the home page of the
portal always fails to find anything.
Any ideas?
How do we 'link' the portal home page default search box to the index
that has been built? We only have the default scope that came out of
the box which as I understand it is 'everything'. ??

What have we missed?
Al

Do you have permissions to those documents? Or better - does the account
that you're logging into the portal with have permissions to those
documents?
