URL redirection

Hi all,

we actually have our site in http://sub.domain.com/sites/portal/
and we would like to type: http://sub.domain.com and it redirects
toward the /sites/portal/ link.
We already created an alias: http://sub.domain.com points to the
sharepoint server but since there are no site in the root (/), it gives
an error.

How can we do that ?

Just a quick update, i have to create a custom aspx (or asp page) that
will redirect the root site to the url, but since there's not site on
the root, where should i put the redirection file?
