Absolute addresses in SharePoint after migration
Hi,
We've migrated a SharePoint installation to a new domain and are having some
problems with links.
Initial scenario:
* SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and SQL Server installed on SPS-SRVR in
OLD_DOMAIN
* SharePoint reached from LAN by http://SPS-SRVR, IP 10.0.0.100
* Sharepoint reached externally using http://partner.company.com, external
IP 111.111.111.111
* All links worked both when accessing from LAN and from Internet
Migration was done by:
* Backing up SPS-SRVR using SharePoint Backup/restore
* Installing SharePoint on NEW_SPS
* Restoring backup to NEW_SPS (and NEW_SQL)
* Manually recreating users/rights
Migrated scenario:
* SharePoint Portal Server installed on NEW_SPS, SQL Server on NEW_SQL, both
in NEW_DOMAIN
* SharePoint reached from LAN by DNS alias http://sharepoint, IP
192.168.16.10
* SharePoint reached externally using http://partner.company.com, external
IP 111.111.111.111 (same as before).
Problem:
When accessing SharePoint through http://partner.company.com (and internally
through http://sharepoint too, for that matter) some links are now pointing
to the SharePoint server's internal IP address (192.168....). I'm not
talking about manually entered links here, but eg. links to documents,
announcements etc.
How do we resolve this problem?
This is a large installation with thousands of links and documents, and a
very frustrated customer, so any and all help will be highly appreciated!
Thanks,

Displayname
Hello all,
I'm trying to search a CMS site via a SPS 2003 index. Ive written a query
to search with the SPS webservice. When I select DAV:DisplayName, I don't
get the CMS DisplayName, but the CMS Name. Does anybody know how to
retrieve the CMS DisplayName?

Non portal content index
Hello all,
I'm trying to index a CMS-site in SPS 2003. I've added a content source in
SPS with the following properties:
Address:
http://<server>/<site>
...
Configuration:
This site - follow links to all pages on this site
I'd think that this configuration should index each and every page of the
site, but this isn't the case. There are pages that I can reach with 3
clicks starting from http://<server>/<site> which I can't find using the
portal search.
Is there something wrong with the configuration of the content source? Is
it something else?
Greetings,
Jo Versmissen Tag: qweqwe Tag: 44906
Can upload via explorer view but not via the normal upload button.
While ISA is running SPS2003 ignores all documents that are uploaded via the upload option in document libraries. If I change to explorer view it works. No errors are shown it just returns to the document library with no documents. If I turn off ISA server then I can once again use the standard upload feature.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Tag: qweqwe Tag: 44900

Site Theme Question
Hello All,
When I apply a theme to a site, all the pages associated with the site, such
as the Site Settings, Documents and Lists etc all reflect the same colors in
the navigation bars and the text colors. But behind the scene, the files in
the _layouts directory, such as the _layouts\1033\settings.aspx which is the
URL behind the Site Settings link, are the same per server and all point to
the OWS.CSS, and thats where all the colors are specified. I am trying
understand how does the site and its associated pages reflect the same color
based on a theme? Although I read about creating a theme using front page, I
could not figure out how to change the background color of only the
navigation bars. Also how do I programmatically apply a theme to a newly
created site definition? Any ideas or suggestions would be of great help.

List Permissions with Connected WebParts
I've got a Sharepoint 2003 (portal server) company contact list with
employee information. It includes a custom column called "Type". The
type column values are Executive, Front Office and Scout.
I created a second list with the same four values in the only field
(also called "Type"). I then connected List A to List B with a
Sort/Filter connecton option, on a new page I created. I can now
select an option from List B (Executive, for example), and my company
list will filter to only include records with "Executive" as the type.
I want to add security to this though. I would like to be able to
allow Reader site group users to view everything in the list, but not
drill down to the detail on certain records (specifically, where
"Executive" is the value). The default View I am using on this list is
"All Contacts"
Is this possible? What about just not showing records with
"Executives" in the list to certain site groups? I don't think I can
do this with Audiences. Any ideas? Tag: qweqwe Tag: 44879
Departmental Web Sites
I'm working on a project for a company who's looking for
a solution to support various departments which serve the
entire company. For example, would it be feasible to use
SPS (actually an STS portal) for an HR site, that
supports all employees? Or would you just create a
website from scratch? I know it's kind of a dumb
question, but I want to make sure, I'm using the right
solution.

Events with ID 1524 in application log
Sharepoint portal server is installed on w2k3 server
standard. Every 10 minutes we get
"Windows cannot unload your classes registry file - it is still in use
by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded when it
is no longer in use." in application log, event ID is 1524, source
UserEnv and user is SPSTaskUser.
I tried to track down the problem using User Profile Hive Cleanup
Service from Microsoft (UPHClean) and this is the result:
"The description for Event ID ( 1201 ) in Source ( UPHClean ) cannot
be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following

So now every 10 minutes UPHClean unloads registry file by force
and I see that event in the log. Does someone know why does this
event with ID 1524 appear and how can I get rid of it?

User Profiles
I've been adding users to my team sites by groups (e.g.,

the different users that belong to the group. However, they do not

Applying Custom theme with a new Site Definition
Hello All,
I created a new site definition using the following steps:
a) Copied the extisting STS directory...renamed it.
b) Copied the Template instruction "WebTemp(x)" xml file and pointed it to
the directory name I created above.
c) Customized web part zones in the default.aspx in the New directory.
d) Create a copy of the ows.css and customized it with colors for the
template...and changed the default.aspx to point to the new css file.
Now everything look Ok when I create a new site based on this site
definition. But when I click on the links for Site Settings or Create links
etc, the default css (ows.css) gets applied. Ideally what I would want is to
apply a theme with the template. For example when you apply a theme to a
site, all the site pages reflect the same colors. How do I programmatically
make this setting to the new site definition? Any ideas or suggestions would
be really helpful.

Search with no result after removing content source and re-add it
Hi,
I have a SPS portal(http://myportal) with 2 sub
portals(http://subportal_1 and http://subportal_2), and after I have
added the site directories of subportal_1 and subportal_2 to be the
content sources, the search works fine on both subportal_1 and
subportal_2 with just a problem: I have two identical documents stored
in two different sites located in subportal_1 and subportal_2
seperately, and I found that if I search them by document name in
these two portals, subportal_2 returns nothing while subportal_1 has
the document shown in the search result. And only some documents have
problem, not all. So I decided to remove all the content source which
is associated with subportal_2 and redo it. And that's a disaster,
because now I can't search a thing from subportal_2. I have reset the
index and do the full update several times, and I even create a new
content index that only index subportal_2. Non of them worked. I am
sure that the permission is not a problem. Please give me some
advices on this problem. Thanks in advance!

News for you in Shared Services
I am currently deploying a 5 server medium server farm with SPS in shared
services mode. The parent portal is currently a dummy portal that is there
to host shared services. The portal I am developing using the shared
services from that parent portal.
My question is: Currently in My Site the News for You and Links for You web
parts only display targeted information from the parent portal and not from
the portal I am customizing. Is there a way to modify these parts
properties to pickup any list items in the shared services farm environment
that have been targeted to the audiences that the user belongs, or is there
a better way to get the same information. I know customization (coding)
would not be terribly hard but we are crunched for time.

Why should crawling content on remote web servers that house very large
files require the full scan of the files to appropriate the metadata for

trying to limit the gathering of some fo its more basic physical aspects
