    - SPS 2003 Page Navigation I have tried a number of ways of doing this and none of them look very good. I would appreciate any comments from any one who has a good way of doing page navigation. The problem: I have a number of Web pages (WebPart pages) that contain HTML content and what I would like to do is use a list WebPart to provide the navigation around the Pages. Simple I thought. The problem is that I want the navigation on the far left of the page and Quick Links is already there. I want to do this from the browser (not FrontPage 2003) so that all users can use the technique. Is there any way of turning off the Quick Links on a Web Part page or is some one using a better method for page navigation. Thanks for any comments.     - error 500 in sps 2003 beta 2 I have just installed SPS2003 beta 2 on a W2003 server, which already has SQL2000SP3 and STS beta 2 TR. After installation, the Sharepoint Central Administration in IIS does not start, because the application pool was empty; I picked one, and started the service. However, on all pages I want to load, I get "internal error 500". I am not able to run the "SPS\FarmDatabase.aspx" page. Also, the sites setup in STS can not be reached anymore.     - editting pubform Hi Im haven a bit a trouble editing the pubform.asp (the form that gets fired when the someone checks in a document). I have set up a profile to have a special notes comment box. So the pubform automatically creates this special note comment box in the list of thing to fill out when you are checking in a document. My problem is that I want a popup box (could just be a JavaScript alert ) to popup if there is anything in the special notes box - when the pubform loads. If there is something in the special notes box it should be display in the text of the alert. Ive spent a bit of time trying to change the xml style sheet but Ive had not luck .     - V2TR Custom Web Part - Database Error I've got something odd going on. I've written a custom web part that attaches to a database. When I set the connection string to use a sql account, all works fine. When I set the connection string to use integrated security, it works fine on a development machine but not on production machines. The app pool for the portal is set to run as a domain account on the production machines. I can open SQL Query Analyzer on that same machine and successfully connect to the db using NT authentication, so the domain account *should* have all the necessary permissions.     - SPS v2 Upload/drag and drop error We are using SPS v2Beta2TR and a separate SQL 2000 sp3a server for the database. Up until recently, everything was working fine when we either uploaded via the web page or dragged and dropped files into the Network Places (mapped to a document library on the portal). Now, it looks like files larger than ~100kb "time out" during the copy process. Web page uploads get a cryptic "Form Validation Error", while the drag and drop error is a dialog box saying "An error has occurred copying all or some of the selected files".     - Administrator access problems Hi, I am using SharePoint Server Beta 2 on a Windows 2003 Server platform. I have created a top level site and want to create a Document Library in this site. The site is a Team Site (Site template). I am using "Windows Authentication" as the access setting. I am having this problem in all the top level sites that I have created. I am logging in as administrator or with the login of the Site owner, but am getting the same error. Whenever I try to create a Document Library, it prompts me to enter my user name and password and domain. I enter the correct details, but it does not accept those details. Does this have something to do with the SharePoint Administrators Group (The option in the Central Administration Page)? Has anyone faced this problem before?     - WSS 2 Best Practice? Hi There We have a customer who wants to use a mini portal for their customers (small amount of customers - maximum of 15). Basically each customer will have a useraccount setup for them (i.e docserver\clientname) and the will go directly to the server over the internet. (i.e. www.mydocserver.com) They want a single point of sign on and then they have an existing web based app (as a page viewer web part) which will use the current users credentials to filter which documents to show. The reason for the use of WSS is the news, discussions, default documents and for a constant look and feel. They dont want the users to be able to modify the site (reader only). So.. I think WSS would be the idea solution to achieve this - with just the default site (no need for subsites atm) Just before I get around to setting everything up..     - I takes more than 1 minute to save a document on SPS (and more)!!! Hi everybody, on my clients (all winXP Pro and Office XP) it takes more than one minute to open the profile form and save a document into SPS. Matter of facts, sometime it takes only a couple of seconds, but this happens only when the profile form doesn't appear and I don't know why: I've only noticed that when the profile form doesn't appear I can't connect to SPS using http://server/workspace. The easiest way to make it run is opening the SPS workspace homepage on the server. After this, the client can connect to SPS and the profile form appears, but it takes soooo long!     - Bind search scope to a particular content index / portal I have installed SPSv2 TR on a stand alone server (running SQL server std edition). My configuration includes three (3) instances of SPS - the default installation plus two (2) virtual servers. What I want to achieve with the search scope is to allow each portal to search its own content and to configure one of the instances e.g. the default instance to search its own content as well as all three instances. This will allow users to search across all three instances of SPSv2 providing a consolidated search results from a single designated portal site. "All sources" does return results from the other portals. I have managed to create a new search scope which also returns very similar results from the other portals as well.     - SPS 2001 problems (Access denied/Permission denied and SPS Administration) Hi, I hope that some one out there can help me solve these issues. We are running SPS 2001 (SP1 upgraded to SP2a while these problems has been present). Issue 1: In the "SharePoint Portal Server Administration" console, we always get a "Unable to open the SharePoint Portal Server named '[servername]'" error... I have read KB 291592 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;291592), but the setup on the server is already like described in the KB. Issue 2: In one of out three SPS environments (development, test and production) we've begun to experience "Script execution error: Permission denied" and "Script excution error: Access denied" errors in web parts where we search through folders that not all our users has access to... Eg. lets say we have a web part where we search for the 5 newest documents from \documents\users\ and 5 newest from \documents\management\, the five newest documents from \documents\management\ should only be listed if the current user is in a management role, the "Management" role has reader rights on \documents\management\ and reader rights on \documents\users\, while the users role only has reader rights on \documents\users and no rights on \documents\management\ This problem was found after the server was rebooted!     - SPS v2 and Exchange 2003 server, login troubles We have a network with 4 servers, 1 isa server, 1 Sps server, 1 exchange server and 1 application server. All the servers are on the same domain and have one active directory. The Sps server and the Exchange server are domain controllers. When i login from the internet to the Sps server, i must type my username and password. When i want to go from Sps to exchange by clicking a link, i must again logon, but now to the Exchange server. This must go automatically because the hang on the same domain and active directory. Maybe is something miss configured in the IIS. Does anybody know what maybe the problem can be....     - Central administration security problem Hi After having installed sharepoint 2003 TR without MSDE option the Central administration page trys to load and asks for username/password. The user created to administer the site (part of power users group) is rejected, even the Administrator login is rejected and is unable to load the page. The install worked without a problem although to get the sharepoint central administration site working in IIS (originally stopped), the application pool had to be set to CentralAdminAppPool before the site would start.     - Installing Brightwork destroys SPS2003 portal I have a client who installed 3rd-party workflow solution Brightwork (brightwork.com) on top of SPS 2003. It's an add-on to SPS 2001, but the vendor sent the customer instructions on how to install Brightwork with SPS 2003. It involves, among other things, installing the backwards-compatible libraries. After the client installed Brightwork, however, the homepage of the portal was 404. Many people have tried many fixes to recover the documents that were in the portal (uninstalling Brightwork, recreating the portal, re-extending the virutal server, attaching the site databases to a new portal, etc.) with no luck.     - Survey Limits I work for a company that's using Sharepoint Survey extensively. We've run into a couple of frustrating snags I hope someone can help me out with. First, we hit a limit with the number of types of surveys we can create. By this I mean we can only create so many Yes/No or Single Line questions before it tells us we can't create anymore. Is there a way around this? Also, is there a way to have Sharepoint number the questions? With surveys at 300+ questions long, having them numbered would help a great deal. I'm using SharePoint Portal Server 2001 SP2a;

i have the following error when i would check-in a document with word
(after i have check-out and edit the document with word):

"The properties of this document cannot be saved. The Server is not
available, or your account cannot be authenticated."

I searched a lot of newsgroups for this issue, but noone have a really
answer to resolve this problem...

Is this a bug?
