I have an existing .NET based site which is the default website on a Windows
2003 server.

I have installed SPS 2003 but have not yet configured a site.

I want to create a new portal based site, but still have a non-portal based
site at the top level default site.

Can someone tell me how to do this?

Are the steps as simple as:

Create a new virtual server in IIS
Extend it in the Sharepoint Portal Server Central Administration

Is there anything else required?

Are there any SNAFU's or concerns about doing this?

Those steps will do the job just nicely.
