    - Re-IP a SharePoint Server We will be moving our SharePoint servers to a new location (same domain) that will require us to change the IP address of all of our servers. We have 2 front-ends, 1 index server and a SQL server. The SQL server will be moved at a later date. What steps do I need to take in order to change the IP address of the SharePoint servers?     - Default Page must be manually typed in after adding 2nd IP MOSS 2007 SP1 running on Windows 2003 Ent SP2. Medium Farm config, 2 FE and separate SQL BE server. There are two sites running siteA.domain.com and siteB.domain.com, internally to our network the DNS for siteA and siteB are pointing to FE server 1. Externally the DNS for the 2 sites is pointing to FE server 2. The 2 sites were working fine on both FE servers. On the second server we needed to implement SSL on both sites using the the default port 443. To do this we added an additional IP address to the interface and configured SSL on each site to use a separate IP so that SSL could run on the default port for both sites. After doing this siteA will not load on server 2 unless you type siteA.domain.com/default.aspx, if you just type siteA.domain.com you will get 403 forbidden error. siteB on server 2 now generates 404. I tried setting the IP config back the way it was but the behavior stayed. I know have a ticket open with MS, but they are taking awhile helping me troubleshot, so I wanted to see if anyone else had other ideas. FYI, there is actually a siteC that is not using SSL and it was not effected by the change. I only have SSL (443) configured to a specific IP, all port 80 is configured to any available.     - SharePoint 2007 Manual Virus Scan Hi, I am trying to integrate my Antivirus Engine with SharePoint (WSS 3.0 and MOSS). There are two types of scanning involved here: 1) Scanning at the time of Upload and Download (Automatic). 2) Scanning of exisiting documents in document libraries and lists (Manual or Scheduled). So as to take care of 1), WSS provides VSAPI. But i am not sure what approach to take for 2) i.e. scanning of exisiting documents in document libraries which actually reside in SQL Server Database.     - Easy fix if you have access to AD Sharepoint won't allow you to use Distribution lists(keeping a long story short). The quick fix is to create a Security Group and set it's email property to the distribution list email address. List 2 is then populated with sub-fields (cities), based upon the country selected in List 1. List 3 is then populated with a list of locations in each city. I know this isn't possible OOTB.     - MOOS 2007 - "w3wp.exe" problem Hi, we have an environment with a VMWare ESX-Server Start, 2x Intel Xeon 5310, 7GB RAM, 2x36GB RAID1 (OS) + 4x72GB (VMWare Images) Two virtual machines are installed: 1x SQL 2005 x64 + 1x MOOS 2007 x64 At the moment we have a small and simple website that contain only lists and a few documents for testing. Whenever I try to access a certain url (list, document library etc.) or i make a change of a existing entry the CPU (process "w3wp.exe" from the SharePoint server is very high (almost 100%). I hoped that SP1 for SharePoint does solve the problem, but no luck yet.     - Do List Event Receiver's work in Medium Trust? Hello all, I have a question about Sharepoint Event Receivers. I have a Sharepoint project which needs to run in Medium trust with all custom assemblies (webparts, event receivers) in the /bin folder. (Our Sharepoint installation is one of many on a shared server and so we are limited by not being able to add things to the GAC). Do you know if custom Event Receiver's are limited to running in the GAC, or should they work in Medium Trust in the /bin folder? I've tried them in the /bin folder and none of the events are firing - the assembly loads in debugger if I attach to the w3wp.exe process but none of my methods are called. Therefore I need to anonymize the analysis somehow or hide the user related reports.     - IIS Error for 1 user in entire domain My Domain Users group has access to the home page of the corporate intranet. They have R/W access via IIS and still 1 particluar person is still getting a IIS error when he tries to access the corporate intranet.     - Automated Workflow I have been playing with the workflow in sharepoint. I'm having trouble creating a workflow that checks the currentdate and the duedate in the project tasks list. The workflow works when a user modifies the record. I don't think the 3 options will work for what I'm trying to do when I created the workflow. I expected the work flow to send a email to the assigned to when the duedate was lessthan currentdate. I wanted the workflow the automaticly run without the user clicking on the record. I wanted to use a while loop in the workflow with a sleep at the end. There doesn't seem to be a option to allow me to change the if condition to while.     - Finding a virus infected file in the Sharepoint Portal Server Hi, Symantec anti-virus picks up and cleans some file(s) every time it runs on our SPS 2003 server. They are always in the \Program Files \SharePoint Portal Server\DATA\Temp\spsgthrsvc\ folder and I have worked out that it is the search gatherer that is pulling the files out of the database and putting them there to be searched at which point the anti-virus sees them. The question is, how do I find out which files in Sharepoint the infected gatherer files correspond to? By the time they have been copied locally, they have been re-named to random names like flt7116_6892.doc, so how do I hunt down the offending object(s) in the document libraries so I can delete them?     - IE 6 Bombs Out When Trying To Navigate Through Intanet We have IE 6 on one of my users workstations. He can get to the home page of the intranet but when he tries to manuver around to any other of the pages within the intranet IE bombs and fires off a .dll error. The command it says I have to run stsadm with some parameters. The location of this command is in this folder...     - MOSS Authentication Mechanism During deployment MOSS 2007 for my clients, I found a strange scenario with Document Library: 1. User A logged in using his domain account to A's PC, and accessed one of the Word document in MOSS's document library. A is able to view it in Word, but Word showed that the document is read-only (although A has rights in that library). 2. User B is able to view and edit that particular document in B's PC (logged in using her domain account). When using B's account on user A's PC ("sign in as different user"), B encountered the same problem as A (view document as read-only). 3. If A's PC is logged out of A's domain account and logged in using B's domain account, the problem is gone. B is able to edit that particular document (and so is A). 4. Then using the same session on A's PC (with B's account), user A did a force log-in using A's account. And the problem is repeated (view as read-only). - A and B are on the same domain. - A and B's PC have more or less same configuration. I hope the description is clear enough to provide the complete picture. It's a must for me to explain why this happens, so really appreciate any helps. My guess is this has to be related to MOSS's authentication mechanism with NT and web-based. Anyway, I have two questions: 1. Does MOSS always invoke NT authentication when user access its sites? 2. And when the user doesn't log in as NT domain account, is web-based authentication be used for authentication? 3. Will domain policies of A and B make difference in this case?     - Login changes when viewing SharePoint library folder First, I apologize if this has been discussed, but I was unable to find anything searching the posts. Probably my poorly defined search criteria. I'm having a strange problem with a folder created in Exploere view. We are running MOSS 2007 with Office 2003, and a user was moving files from one location to another by dragging and dropping them from Explorer view of different libraries. Things seemed to work for awhile, but I started receiving complaints that files were not available. I checked permissions and the library is available to the audience that needs to see it and is open for anonymous access as well. If I visit the library as anonymous, and click to view a folder, I'm provided a another list of folders. If I click on one of these subfolder, I can see a listing of the files in the folder, but the top of the frame shows I'm logged in as the user that moved the files into the folder. If I try to click on one of the files I get a file not found. If I login at the folder level, my login seems to change when I veiw the list of files. If I click on My Site or My Links, I'm challenged for a login and it doesn't accept my credentials. I'm guessing there was some permission tag from the user logged into Windows that the Explorer view might have attached to the folder, but I don't see anything like this in my searches as a known bug. Anybody have any ideas? BTW, I have used this procedure before without a problem. It seems the thing we do most is reorganize and that requires moving things as the organizational charts are shuffled. Thanks for any help or ideas you can provide.     - AD Provider for multiple domains I have a scenario where we are moving from CMS 2007 to MOSS 2007. As part of this transition we have to ensure security can work the same way from one environment to the other. In CMS you could add multiple domains as authentication sources for your forms based authentication. It appears MOSS does not offer this flexibility and instead offers a somewhat weak solution of extending the application with an alternate URL in order to make this work as you can only have a single AD provider defined for any given web application.     - enforcing naming conventions Hi all, Our senior management is really sold on all the document classification stuff in MOSS - content types, lookups for metadata, versioning, etc. However, they've asked if it's possible to provide a technical solution to enforce naming conventions. At the moments there's a very clear business set of guidelines in place, but people generally ignore these. What we want is pretty simple to describe: When people upload a document to a particular library, they are prompted to select a content type. Based on this selection, different mandatory metadata fields are presented. When they complete these fields, and click save, the document name is created programatically by the system.     - Large File over 25 MB I have MOSS 2007 on Server 2008. I am trying to upload a 100 MB file. The max I have been able to send is 25 MB. When I try and send a file through the DAVWWWROOT it tells me it cant find the file. When I try and send the file through the upload function, I get a 404 error and the file doesnt show up.     - Unexpected Error after uploading workflow Help- I have created a custom workflow on a document library to start automatically when a document is uploaded. The workflow is based on selections made to the custom properties of the document. Unfortunately once a workflow instance is running you can no longer edit the document properties or upload any new documents to the library- you get an "unexpected error". The workflow does seem to work fine though. I found the article below but the solutions do not seem to work.     - MOSS not sending email alerts after database restore I recently restored my moss 2007 database from a sql 2000 sp4 database to a sql 2005 sp1 database. But the problem is my email alerts no longer work, I do not receive the initial alerts nor do i receive the alerts when items are added I did notice the alerts were in the immediate database table but nothing in the iis 6 smtp inetpub mail folder. I do not have exchange server I am using iis 6.0 on a windows 2003 server. I also tried the update alert templates from the command line using stsadm with no luck.     - populating audiences from a list of project members Hi guys, I've set up an audience in MOSS 2007 standard edition. It's filtering content based up the Department field in the MOSS User Profile. (This field is imported from AD.) What I'd like to do is have a sub-category called Projects. This would be a list of projects that each user is currently working on. This is easy enough to do in the Central Admin. However, I don't obviously want to have to give every project manager access to this. Ideally I'd like to have a sharepoint list of projects, with a field where PMs can add project members, and this somehow either: 1. Updates a My Projects Field in the User Profile. or 2.     - Will Sharepoint Work Here I am creating a website and I need functionality of pulling from a access database filtered data. I need to be able to select 6 different criteria (probably from drop down boxes) and produce tables exportable into excel or at least can be copied and pasted. Ultimately I need to expand on the capabilites past this point to select this data and then create charts from the selected criteria. I don't have sharepoint 2007 but I can get it easily. SPS 2003 latest service patch applied.

Integrated windows authentication. both IE 6 and 7.

We began seeing this error a few weeks back, and now see this error with
increasing frequency. Hit the F5 key and the page loads. This error
can occur the first time a user visits the site or on their second or
more visits on the same authenticated session. We are wondering if the
authentication session is timing out and looking to re-authenticate.

Any idea where to start looking?
