Hey all,

Having a slight issue with document libraries basically the design for
some of my pages calls for multiple document parts but all to hold
different document types i.e. One for word templates one for
compliance info etc. Wondering

How can i create these and point the associated web parts to the
proper folder to look at rather than the default documents

I've seen that i can filter the view but not alter the directory it's
look at for the documents. looked at the code from designer and can't
figure out were this is happening any help would be muchly appreciated.

You create different document library *Lists* each of which uses a
different template.

You then select the web part for each of those doc lib Lists in turn and
place it on the default (or web part) page.

You do not use folders in the document libraries.

(Naturally when uploading to the doc lib; or creating in the doc lib you
do it for documents that fit there=.

Applies to v2 and v3 - please in future always say which product/version
you are asking about.

Hey Mike,

How do i select a different template? i've attempted to point the
webpart at a diffrent document library. Also pointing and editing the
allforms.aspx? sorry for being so stupid i'm using v3 but can't see
anyway to select a diffrent template all i can current do is use a
filter.

I think you are still trying to do in a web part what you need to do in
a document library.

When you create a document library you can specify which template (from
a dropdown at the bottom of the Create page) you want to use. There are
(out-of-the-box) the usual culprits like Word; Excel etc.
