    - Question about connecting one database to another I have the standard Microsoft SBS 2003 SharePoint services runing. I have create a standard website for the company to use for information. I am trying to create something I believe is suppose to work, but I can't seem to get it to work. From the Home page, I have created a LIST called SERVER UPDATES. This list is for the administrator's use only. The Administrator will post modifications to this for his use to keep track of changes he/and others, have made. Software installs, version upgrades, service packs etc. I want the users to be able to see these updates (only certain rows that pertain to them), so I created an ANNOUNCEMENT list. In that announcement list, I added a column, and told it it was information from another part of this site. When I do that, I only have two selections, ID and TITLE.     - Migrating a library from 2003 to MOSS 2007 Hi all, I'm on the throes of deploying MOSS 2007 and was wondering if anybody knew of a definitive way to migrate a 2003 doc library (or subsite if that's easier) across to 2007. I've used smigrate in the past to export and import from different servers with success but I can't seem to find it with MOSS Beta 2 TR. I've read that stsadm is what should be used but I think this is for transfering between 2007 servers only, but I could be mistaken. (ie there's no export function in stsadm for 2003) Basically I've got a big fat document library in 2003 and it would be handy to move it across.     - sharing sharepoint credentials hi, we have a MOSS 2007 website, and we are integrating some applications already built. is there a way the application can get the sharepoint credentials, or least the logged in user so it can perform its own authentication.     - FireFox Web Part Width Rendering I made a custom web part for My Site. Its first defined element is a table with a defined width of 100%. When I pulled up the page in Firefox, the actual content of the web part is jammed up as small as possible. I viewed the page using FireBug (which allows me to traverse HTML elements and highlight them as I go), and found out that the first element that restricts the width in this way is actually a <tbody> element, which I believe SharePoint creates. Has anyone run across this, and if so, developed a way to make FireFox render the web part content to 100% width? IE7 renders it fine, stretching my content across the entire width of the web part. Of course, I found nothing. Normal surveillance "mini-cameras" are quite noticeable and require visible supporting circuitry. It seems to me the best place to put a small video surveillance device would be additional to a piece of electronic equipment such as a TV or video. When I'm in shared services administration and click on "Search Settings" I get the following error:- "An indexer is not assigned to the Shared Services Provider 'SharedServices1'.     - upgrade MOSS2007 B2TR to RTM I'm having a problem doing the upgrade to RTM. I'm stuck on the config wizard on task 8 of 9.     - upgrade MOSS2007 B2TR to RTM I'm having a problem doing the upgrade to RTM. I'm stuck on the config wizard on task 8 of 9. I've left it run over 30 minutes, rebooted restarted the wizard to no help. My Sharepoint server is on 1 server with SQL running on another server with SQL 2000 SP3a Here is my upgrade log..     - workflow not working with MOSS2007 I'm trying to get a new workflow working with MOSS2007, I see that the workflow failed to start. If I look at the userID that it's trying to use it's 'system account', but if I look at system account's user info, it says SHAREPOINT\system well my server's name is not SHAREPOINT , I'm thinking this is the problem, but were do I fix this?     - MOSS 2007 Collection consolidation w/stsadm export: "User cannot be found" I've migrated my SPS2003 Portal to MOSS 2007 Enterprise Trial version successfully. Now I'm trying to consolidate my previously disparate site collections to be located under the new MOSS Portal collection to take advantage of the new features available to sites within the same collection. I'm following Shane Young's post on using stsadm -o export/import to do this (http://msmvps.com/blogs/shane/archive/2006/11/14/consolidating-site-collections-after-upgrading-sharepoint.aspx). I've been able to move a number of collections into the main MOSS collection (under <Server>/SiteDirectory...) and they are showing up as part of that collection perfectly. However, on some of my site collections, I'm getting a "User cannot be found" error at the start of the export process. This occurs with or without the -includeusersecurity option. I've gone into the site collection and removed everyone except for myself as a collection owner (Site Actions > Site Settings > People and Groups > Select All > Actions > Delete Users from Site Collection). I Rebooted the server for good measure and tried again, but get the same error message. The log (below) doesn't return a specific user, list, or library associated with the error. The odd thing is that in some of the collections that I have successfully moved over, I can see that the log is enumerating site collection user entries of people that are no longer with the company, so it appears that it's not the absence of an actual AD account that causes the problem.     - Target audience applied only to the first content type Hi, I am using MOSS (SharePoint 2007) and I have the following setup: 1) A document library with 2 content types (docA and docB in this specific order) 2) I have enabled the audience targetting option for the document library. The problem is that the target audience (available in the properties of an item in the document library) is display only for on content type for docA and not for docB. The content type that has the target audience enabled is the first on in the list (in the document library settings) docA in my case, if I change this order (docB then docA) the target audience will appear for docB and not for docA.     - can't create a meeting workspace with Outlook 2007 beta2TR I'm having a problem with one user creating a meeting workspace with Outlook 2007 B2TR. I can login to SP2007 B2TR and manually create the meeting workspace at the correct location, but it doesn't work with Outlook.     - BDC & Webservice Hi, Has anyone managed to successfully programmatically create a LOBSystem that communicates with a web service? I am trying to return an object from the webservice but i can't work out the right way of doing it. I have managed to do this by handcrafting the XML and importing it but i can't do it using code.     - Two front server problem Hello all, We are having a big problem with WSS Sites. We have SPS 2003 with two front servers, one in DMZ and one in LAN and one SQL server in LAN. One front server is for intranet and the other for extranet access. When we create a site from the intranet server, it is created succesfully, but when we try to enter from the extranet server, it does not work (we get a "The page you are trying to open does not exist" error). Initially we had only one front server, and the sites we created then work both for intranet and extranet servers. Also, SPS2003 areas and subareas work perfectly both for extranet /intranet, so our problem is WSS related. Does anyone have an idea about what is happening? Where does WSS store sites, in sql like SPS or in folders? Do these two servers need to comunicate directly with each other? We are on our own here in Spain for support from MS for Sharepoint. There is no expertise on this server in Spain.     - Sharepoint 2001 Question Hi, I have a sharepoint portal server 2001 installed in win 2000 server. The problem is that when any user other than an administrator on the server logs into the sharepoint server site through Window XP client machine, they are prompted to login 3 times before they are given access. The weird thing is that after the first login, the other 2 can be cancelled and the user still has access. However, if the client compiter is Win 2000, I haven't got this problem.     - Can't send Email workflow alterts? I've configured our MOSS server's outgoing email to use a known good SMTP relay on our network. I can send mail using code without issue, but, when I change a content page, I should be getting a workflow email alert informing me that I need to approve changes to the content page from MOSS. No emails are being sent. I've checked the application logs on the server, and poked around in the Admin screens to see if there is an error log. Nothing is showing up. Is there some way to check what is happening in SharePoint? Is there something obvious in the settings (other than outgoing email settings) that I need to work with?     - Change Master Page of Publishing Content Page When using the Publishing with Workflow site templage in MOSS 2007, I can apply a master page to an entire site's conent pages using site settings (simple stuff). What I need to do, is change the master page for a single existing content page. In Sharepoint Designer it seems as though you should be able to do this, but, when attempting to do so, all the options are grayed out. can i use sql server's log shipping to keep the data from the instance
in domainB in sync with what's on domainB?
