After we installed SSL on our portal we lost our ability to search.
Also, we have quite a few documents on the portal but not one is
showing up in the index. I've seen other problems that addressed the
same issue but never a working solution.

Under central admin did you change the default portal address? SPS Central
Admin > Configure alternate portal URLs... > The default URL for your portal
needs to be your https:// address.

What portal address should be in there? right now it's the
https://machinename not the https://portal-address. We have network
load balancing so we have different IP addresses for machine and portal.

Thanks. I can't try this on the live network until I test it on the
