    - Maximum upload size Greets all. I've been trying to upload a rather "large" file into SharePoint into the main portal's document library. Below is the error that I got: The form submission cannot be processed because it exceeded the maximum length allowed by the Web administrator. Please resubmit the form with less data. In response to that error, I increased <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="51200" /> in web.config to 5120000. Yet it still gave me the same error. Is there an absolute maximum to this?     - Sharepoint 2001 fails to be installed on Windows Server 2003 I just purchased a Action Pack from Microsoft and found Sharepoint Server 2001 can not be installed on Windows Server 2003. Why Microsoft ships out incompatible versions of tools in the same package? My purpose to get this Action Pack is to get Sharepoint Server running.     - How do I add a web part to a page in code? I have a list of applications (Applications) in which each item in the list is an application. (duh!) My employer wants to be able to add issues to the Issues list for the application from the application's Add/Edit screen. It seems to me, that the best way to do this, would be to edit the EditForm.aspx file for the Applications list in the document library to add the Issues web part to it.     - Meeting Workspace - remove dates section Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to solve my problem. I've created a meeting workspace for a reoccurring event, but the people who go to the events change. I want to make sure that all of the people see the same information. On the meeting workspace, I've created all of the web parts and pages as series items. However, on the left hand side of the page, the users can scroll through the different dates of events.     - Security validation error I have several portals setup and all of them will give the following error whenever you click on the MySites link: "The security validation for this page has timed out. Click Back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and try your operation again. " If I try to use a web part like "Your recent documents", it will cause the same error to be generated on the page I put the part on. So it seems to be related but I'm not sure just how.     - Searching Large External File Indexes We decided to try indexing our departmental share, and home drives on Sharepoint. We have 4 content sources using one index (Non_Portal_Content), devided up into four search scopes. There is a total of 600,000 documents in the non_portal_content index. The search scope that defines our home folders(there is about 1200 home folders indexed here, containing 250,000 files) is sometimes slow depending on the word you search for. Searching for the word "plan" results in about a 1-3 minute wait, sometimes even resulting in a time-out error message. Searching for other phrases such as "schedule" or "sharepoint" or other things that are contained in my home folder results in a very quick search result, even though the number of results returned is similar to the slower searches. Is there any reason why some searches take longer than others even though the number of search results is about the same? Is sharepoint searching through documents that I do not have access to?     - Searching Sites from an Area I have a WSS Site, say it's called Football, linked to an SPS Area (version 2)called Sports. If I place files into the Football site, shouldn't I be able to search and find it if I'm searching from the Sports area? It's not working and I'm not sure why.     - Internal server error when entering site home page Hi all I've installed SPS2003 without problem and I've created my first site also smoothly. I've added to this site two users besides the owner-administrator of the site so I can check differences between readers/contributors/administrators and so on... Everythings seems to work ok with the owner user, but when I try to enter the site with any of the other two, the server just gives a 500 Internal Server Error. Nothing shows on the event browser and I can't find anything useful in the logs folder, so I don't even know what else to check...     - Site Directory & reference cleanup I'm finding that, when Team Sites are deleted, references to the sites are not being completely "cleaned out". For example, if a user creates a site - then realizes that they've made mistakes or doesn't need the site & deletes it - the site still appears in the "Newest Sites" listing for days after it's gone.     - Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 in dmz as extranet - webpart issues Hi there! Just tried it and it didn't work in first try: Configured dmz in pix515, placed sharepoint portal 2003 in dmz, had everything worked fine (internal/external resolution and initial load of homesite in browser from both outside and inside). pix actually configured (for test) completely open toward LAN. BUT: webparts - for instance Calendar and Inbox - didn't load in browser when outside. Inside OK. We could of course publish OWA as external ressource but we cannot publish everything (like ftp to certain internal servers). The main isssue here is - as I see it - how do SPS generate html? and is it possible to configure sps to make these ressources in frames acceccible to clients on the internet without having anything else opened than port 80/443 to the sps-box.     - Can you create Team Site without the Sites page? I deleted the "Sites" page, well all the pages under home and created my own subareas for each department. Now I found out about "Team Sites" and I want the ability to create a Team Site but can't without the "Sites" page. Can I restore the Sites page or is there another way to create Team Sites. I would rather just have an option on each departments homepage, which is a subarea of the SharePoint homepage, to be able to create a Team Site (I would rather not use the "Sites" page).     - V1: problem with links Hi All, I have a huge problem with my SharePoint installation. I'm running sps2001 SP2 and my clients are running Windows XP SP1 and Office 2000 latest service pack. When we create a word/excel/powerpoint document which contais a linke to another file in SharePoint the link will work after the first time i publish the file. If i check-out the file and edit the link or create a new link my links don't work anymore. The right link should be something like this : http://sharepointserver.domain.com/WorkspaceName/Documents/test.xls but the link changes to this after the second publish : http://sharepointserver.domain.dk/documents/test.xls It looks like the second publish strips the workspacename out of the URL.     - Connecting to Legacy Document store on other Server. Hi, I've got SPS2003 setup on a box and i want to point another box which has the legacy Document store on it. One of products requires the web store so as to work. Problem i'm having is that in server topology, when i enter the name of the Document Library Server, i get an error stating that the server can't be contact or that it doesn't contain Document Management components.     - SPS2003 problem - sites does not resize to fit screen resolution I just installed SPS2003 from scratch, and neither the Portal nor any sites I create, resize to the browser window or the users desktop resolution. Even in 1024*768 the portal homepage is wider than my IE can handle. It uses the standard template, and I have done no editing/customization at all. I installed Sharepoint Portal Server 2001 which wouldn't
run. When MS released the 2003 version, I was able to
login to SPS, but then was unable to login on my Terminal
Server. SPS is now uninstalled, TS reinstalled but still
getting bad request, http 400 msg and all appears correct
in TS Manager... Any suggestions?
