    - Hot fix 31 August 2006 KB924931 Has anyone installed the following hot fix? I have this issue on my Index server. If so did you install it on just the Index server or on the Index server and the WFE servers? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/924931 We are having the issue that is describe in the KB article, the error is logged on the index server and SharePoint backups sometimes fail to select components for one of the portals. Which causes it to not backup. Note: We have a medium server farm - 2 WFEs, 1 Index and 1 DB. Any advice would be gratefully received.     - Progarmming the adding of a user profile import connection Hi! UserProfileConfigManager.GetDataSource().connections gives me the user profile import connections, but this is a read-only members. I hoped that UserProfileConfigManager.GetDataSource().Add() (followed by the Commit()) was the method to add such connections. But even with RunWithElevatedPrivilege no connection is adding to this collection. Does someone know how to do such thing? Thanks for your help.     - IIS log for site usage Hi all I would like to ask you about the site usage report on MOSS 2007 since I have my problem about IIS log file. They are found at both of "C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC****" and "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS". But it did not show any value on the site usage report page. Also, I open the database (SharedServices1_db) in SQL2k5 and look into these tables dbo.ANLHistoricalSiteUsage dbo.ANLHistoricalWebUsage dbo.ANLHit dbo.ANLResource They have not been stored any data from log file.     - How to change PageLayout Masterpage? I have created new Content Type for new Page Layout, which will be inherited from Welcome Page, and I named it HomePage. I check in Sharepoint Designer, new aspx (homepage.aspx) has been created. Now, I can create a new page using this new PageLayout. My question is: How do I change the masterpage of this page layout (homepage.aspx). When I go to Format > Master Page, all menus are disabled, except "Manage Content Regions". All I need to do is just removing some part of home page for each site (default.aspx), but by removing these in the MasterPage, all other pages that use this MasterPage will be affected. So, I try to create new Page Layout, and attach new masterpage to the PageLayout. But I don't know how to change this Page Layout masterpage? I also try to to detach from Page Layout for the default.aspx. But when I choose Format > Master Page > Attach Master Page, and select Specific master page, and browse to my custom master page. Nothing changes, the page still attach to default/previous master page. Is this a bug or what? Hmm, it seems it's very troublesome just to change this simple thing. Sorry for beginner in 2007 here.     - Restore sharepoint farm from only DB backups Is it possible to restore the entire sharepoint farm from just having the DB backups? We running through our disaster recovery plan and I am trying to do this in a test environment. In every instance, I received the error : "Unable to connect to database. Check database connection information and make sure the database server is running". This is not correct because the connection informaition IS right and the server IS running.     - Security settings for shared services I'm having a heck of a time trying to get security settings configured correctly for MOSS 2007. particualry for shareservices admin. I've setup 4 servers and it has been different on everyone. My understanding from the only book I have on the subject is that Farm administrators are supposed to have access to everything. Yet on all the servers I've setup this has never been the case. On the latest server the account I setup the server with and that has every privilage on the server can't access the shared services admin site. In fact I can't find and account that has access?     - Extranet access We are running Sharepoint 2007, or in the process of getting it up and running. I have obtained a external IP address for it also. I need to make it available for remote employees also to view, my plan was to put in the DMZ ( sonicwall Pro 3060) and then open ports between that box and my AD through the DMZ. My requirement is when ever a document is added to the workflow there is a chance to the creater to assign status as Draft. When the document is in draft status creater can edit the document. Once he submits the document for approval, Status need to be Changed to Waiting Approval...and he nolonger able to edit the document. Approvers can see the document only when the status is "Pending Approval". Until the document is approved i want to display the workFlow process ans InProgress.     - Restrict Viewing Priveleges (for a client logging into a team site). I have been playing around with a couple of ways to restrict access to a portal site and thought i would ask here.. We want to open a team site to a client but we only want them to be able to see about 5 out of 20 different lists available (including webparts on the home page). Its not very intuitive as far as restricting permissions to view... what is the best way to achieve this? Do i need to edit permissions on each list (breaking my inheritance from the parent) to restrict their viewing the lists? This seems like a management nightmare... Ideally i would give their account permissions to login, then i would selectively ADD them to each list with view, edit, etc. Is this possible? Thanks!     - SSRS Integrated mode, scheduled email report "link to report" URL issue Hey Y'all, I got SSRS running in Integrated Mode in my test environment. Pretty interesting. Only issue I have is this. When I schedule a report for delivery, the little checkbox that says "Include a link to the report" throws the wrong URL in the email. It points to a URL via an http://<ssrsbox>/ReportServer type of address (Native mode style), rather than with the Integrated Mode URL access, ie: http://<mossbox>/Reports/_layouts/ReportServer/RSViewerPage.aspx?RelativeReportUrl=/Reports/ReportsLibrary/<myreportsfolder>/<myreport>.rdl I can, of course, take off that checkbox, and manually add the correct link to each subscription, but I'm wondering if maybe my setup is messed up? Has anyone got Integrated Mode going with scheduled delivery and had it print the correct (ie. Integrated Mode) URL access address? Interestingly, when I view the .rdl's in the document libary, and do the "Send To-Email a Link" action, it prints the CORRECT link in the email that it starts off. Anyone know where there's a config file to tweak the send email template for SSRS scheduled reports? Or where exactly that parameter is read from to build the URL for the report when sending a report via scheduled email? thanks for any ideas.     - User Activity Report I'm looking for the meaning of the "Value" on the User Activity section of the Site Collection Users page (under Site Collection Usage Reports). I can't find it documented anywhere and can't believe that the unit of measure is not listed on the actual report. Does anyone know what it's measuring, or can point me to some documentation that describes the reports? The values in my test site for my user are going up by small increments, like from 15.25 to 20.00 over the period of a day, so I'm thinking it's too small to be related to page requests and must be a measure of hours or somthing like that.     - Moss2007 Site with Multiple DNS Addresses Is it possible to have a Moss 2007 that has multiple addresses? ie We have built a site (http://intranet) and it works fine. I have address headers to the site to include http://intranet.ourdomain.local and http://intranet.company.com. However, if I go to http://intranet.company.com it forwards me to http://intranet.     - Problew with ReviewWorkflow In a ReviewRouting_Init_1045.xsn file (I've opend it in a Design view) from ..\Features\ReviewWorkwlows\Forms\ and I've changed one text in one place. I've saved this .xsn file and restarted iis. When I try to run this review workflow on my sharepoint site on the init form I always see the old text.     - SPS03 and WebDav I have been trying to get NetWork Places to work with respect to my SharePoint Portal 03 from my Vista Client ever since I installed it. Today I followed the hint of doing a network place to a file share, and asked the IIS help on how to share a web site. This led to WebDav redirection and to WebDav itself. (And I recalled earlier messages saying that the old network folder functionality had been absorbed into WebDav.) Anyway, the WebDav redirection help said that you had to allow the WebDav extensions for IIS. So I looked. Sure enough, in the extensions list, WebDav Extensions were Prohibited. And they are allowed in the File Server on the same box. Does allowing WebDav Extensions in IIS cause problems for SharePoint Portal Server 2003?     - SharePoint -Cascade Masterpage updates down to historical pages Hello, I am in the process of learning SharePoint to a higher degree and am trying to figure out how to accomplish cascading updates from a Master/Parent template page down to all pages that were created based on the Master/Parent model. I have well over 200 pages that I created from a SharePoint template, and now our page styling and added text has changed, so I would like to cascade the changes down to all previously created pages that were originally based on the Master/Parent template. Is there a way to do this? If not, would there have been a way if I developed the Master page with a different set of rules, and if so, what should have those rules have been please? We may be upgrading to WSS Ver. 3.x in the future, but we are currently using WSS Version 2.0. Any advice that you could supply to help me get all my pages updated properly, by only needing to update a master file, or give me the knowledge so that I donâ??t make this same mistake for my future development.     - Configuration Failed / Accidentally deleted Central Admin Hi. I'm getting a error Configuration Failed while trying to fix SharePoint Portal 2007. Error: One or more configuration settings failed. Completed configuration settings will not be rolled back. Resolve the problem and run this configuration wizard again. The following contains detailed information about the failure: Failed to initialize SharePoint Products and Technologies upgrade. An exception of type System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException was thrown.Additional Information The given key was not present in the dictionary A little background about what I did: 1) I wanted to uninstall SharePoint from a web site (or webapplication, whatever) 2) I clicked it and immediately realized i was uninstalling (Remove SharePoint from IIS Web site) from the Administration Page rather than from the other site i wanted. 3) It was too late. 4) I tried running the SharePoint products and Technologies Configuration Wizard to fix it. Several attempts did not seem to make any difference 5) I un-installed the admin page from my 2 web front ends, and also from my Job/Index server 6) I then deleted the IIS SharePoint v3 admin page and the corresponding folder (after backing it up) 7) I tried running SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard again. 8) It runs through most of it and then failes with that error message. I tried this but to no avail This feature is activated whenever any site in your site collection enables the Publishing feature. You can activate this feature via Site Settings (Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Features). It's automatically activated when you create a Publishing Site in your site colleciton, or use the Collaboration Portal or Publishing Portal templates. I also tried I going to site collection administration and click on site collection features. When I try and activate Office Sharepoint Server Publishing infrastructure I get the following error Publishing sites and features cannot be activated in the Central Administration Web Application. Now I try to start 'Office SharePoint Server Search Service' for the first time and on the 'Central Administration > Operations > Services on Server > Office SharePoint Server Search Service Settings' I checked on both 'Use this server for indexing' and 'Use this server for serving search queries', entered User/Password (user belongs to Users group at the moment), chose 'Partly reduced' and 'Use all web front end computers for crawling'.     - Best way forward? I have a need to capture job vacancy details created by our HR dept for publishing on our website. My thoughts are to use an InfoPath 2007 (web) form encapsulated in MOSS 2007. When the HR team fill this out, the XML contents are exposed to the website for publication. I don't know which part is missing from my installation. Can anybody help me

I want to install SharePoint Server 2007(Stdandalone installtion) on DC
after that I want to create a HTTPS site from SharePoint 2007.

All the components are installed in a single machine :

DC has been installed
ASP ,IIS 6.0 and .NET 3.0, Certificate Services has been installed.
SQL server 2000 SP4.
SharePoint 2007 with Advance and standalone installation done.
During installation it is not asking <Domain>\<userID> and it is not
opening its default web page. It is saying Server in '/' application.(runtime
error)

In "Deployment for Office SharePoint Server 2007" doc there is comment in
page 33 stating that --"
We recommend that you read the Known Issues/Readme documentation before you
install Office SharePoint Server 2007 on a domain controller. Installing
Office SharePoint Server 2007 on a domain controller requires additional
configuration steps that are not discussed in this document." but I am unable
to get the proper changes.
