On the main page - you can use the Image webpart to diaplay images -
Upload your images into the photo library (manage content - - if there are
no picture libraries - click create - picture library - and create one )
On each image - copy the URL of the image (note: to use the image viewer
properly - you have to click the image 2 times to get the actual image URL
that sharepoint needs - the first click gives youthe option to edit the image
- etc - the second clik will open just the image - copy that URL)
Drag the image webpart onto the page - and paste the URL into the Web part
page properties.
If the image is too large - change the uploaded image size (restricting the
size of the webpart wont change the image size)
If you want to change the images in the template for the main page - edit it
in a tool like Frontpage - and you can search for files that are in your
image library to add to the page.
