 - moving to another server Hi, I have a server in bad condition with SPS (v2 Beta) and seperate SQL server. I want to create new server and make it the same as the first one (with all portals, sites, directories, data). Can I do it easily by adding the second server to the same DB and then removing the first one (like shadow set in VMS) ?  - CreateObject("NameTranslate") in a webpart Hi all, i'm trying to make a webpart that checks if the logged user is in an AD group I get all group member (like "CN=jeffsmith,CN=Users,DC=Fabrikam,DC=COM") but to check if my user is in the group i have to translate DistinguishedName to NT4 User name format (DOMAIN\user) When I try to make this Set nto = Server.CreateObject("NameTranslate") I get an error and i don't know why.  - another search question in V2 Hello, I think this question has already been answered once but I don't remember the solution. I have installed RTM of SPS 2003 and the database is residing on a SQL server with full text searching enabled. I have created a main portal site and sub sites within that main portal site. I have enabled searching and created content sources of the subsites as well as the main portal space. Ran full crawls of the portal site and sub sites. When I do a search on the main portal site for a document that is in the sub site I get no results. However, if I do a search from the sub site for the same document I get results. I am searching on the main portal and sub sites form my pc which I am admin on the entire server itself as well as both main portal and sub sites. Any ideas?  - Installing Sharepoint on VMWare - 500 error I am having problems getting the RTM version of VMWare installed. I am using VMWare Workstation 4. I am attempting to install it without using MSDE. I have SQL Server (SP3) already installed on the VM. The VM is also a member of the company domain. My problem arises during the final stages of the install, where you specify the SQL Server. The Central Admin Application Pool is not created. When I create this myself, and assign the appropriate permissions, I receive a 500 error when trying to access the Central Admin site.  - Trying to modify the style for SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (2nd try) Hi NG I hope everybody is doing well. I have a problem when trying to modify the style of Sharepoint portal server 2003 default style. Some style setting works some other don't. I modified the ows.css in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033\STYLES as mentioned in the SDK found at (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AA3E7FE5-DAEE-4D10 -980F-789B827967B0&displaylang=en). Let's say I modify the style .ms-searchform in ows.css to put a Teal background instead of the regular blue background when I load the page in frontpage I see my new background color very quickly then it comes back as the default one. Then I started to look at the css file linked in the page I figured that there's 3 linked css files (ows.css, menu.css, sps.css) when I comment out the sps.css link my backgroup will stay Teal, everything else on the page is fucked up but my background is there so I started to look in the sps.css for the .ms-searchform tag but I can't find it, so how can it overwrite the other tag if it's not there?  - SPS v1.0 Compatibility with .NET Hello, I have run into a bit of a problem and I am hoping someone can help. I am running Sharepoint Portal Server v1.0 on Windows 2000 Server with IIS 5.0. The .NET framework v1.1 is also installed on the box. What I am trying to do is move some ASP.NET applications from one server over to the Portal Server so that users can run them independently. Here is the problem... In order to enable the ASP.NET apps and set the appropriate .aspx IIS mappings I ran a utility called aspnet_regiis.exe. After I ran the utility the ASP.NET pages worked fine but Portal stopped working. So I uninstalled the utility. Uninstalling fixed the Portal but disabled the ASP.NET pages. So to make a long story short, I have yet to find a way to make ASP.NET and Sharepoint v1.0 co-exist on the same server. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions on how to do this?  - Trying to modify the style for SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (3rd try) Not sure but it looks like the server is not accepting my post Hi NG I hope everybody is doing well. I have a problem when trying to modify the style of Sharepoint portal server 2003 default style. Some style setting works some other don't. I modified the ows.css in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033\STYLES as mentioned in the SDK. Let's say I modify the style .ms-searchform in ows.css to put a Teal background instead of the regular blue background when I load the page in frontpage I see my new background color very quickly then it comes back as the default one. Then I started to look at the css file linked in the page I figured that there's 3 linked css files (ows.css, menu.css, sps.css) when I comment out the sps.css link my backgroup will stay Teal, everything else on the page is fucked up but my background is there so I started to look in the sps.css for the .ms-searchform tag but I can't find it, so how can it overwrite the other tag if it's not there?  - Cannot work with corrupted file in sharepoint portal server Hi, We have developed our own application which interacts with SharePoint portal server V1. We have our own proprietary filetype and are uploaded into server. But somehow, some of files got corrupted. These files are in checked out state and we cannot delete or move or do any other operation on these files. From shadow folder, I see versions for file 1.0 to 4.0 and version 4.1 which is checked out one. If i try to delete version 4.1 from shado folder, it will not allow me because it says i do not have permission. But, I am coordinator on folder as well as on workspace and administrator on server machine. These files contains important data and we do not want to loose them. How I can recover corrupted file? Also, I thought I saw a gatherer log summary at one point that listed documents that were crawled, but now I cannot see any documents in the list, only site/URL paths. On port 85, it's accessible using Anonymous Access (as an extension of the portal site on port 81).
