I want to run .ink files from sharepoint.
Does anyone know the IE settings in XP to stop the "open" prompt from
poping up after you click on a link.

Go to My Computer > Tools > Folder Options and the File Type tab. Find the
.ink file type and select it. Click the advanced button below. In there will
be a check box for always confirm open after download - uncheck it

Sorry I typed an i istead of an L

I want to run a .LNK file "Shortcut" on my intranet site.
I have already tried to change the File Type Tab and windows just
erases it everytime.
I've also tried to change the extention to .whatever and then set
windows to open a .whatever as a shortcut. IE still blocks this.
There must be somewhere in the registry that you can change this.

There should be a checkbox on the pop up message that states something like
always perform this action.

Yes there is a checkbox on the pop up message but its greyed out. I
want to know how to un-grey out this box. Its a .LNK file.
