    - HELP - mysite problem Hi, I am at a loss as what to do about this one. One of my users MySite's (my bosses, not good) is broken. Attempting to vist the site re-directs to an error page: An unexpected error has occured. it offers a link to the "Web Parts Maintenance Page" - which lists a set of standard web parts, though you can do little with them (close|reset|delete|go back etc.) After a while, I thought i'd delete the mySite from "manage profile database" pages. I expected that next visit to the mysite would recreate it ( i'd tested this in a VM beforehand and it worked ). Visiting the mySite results in the same error page. Using stsadm.exe and enterprise manager I confirmed that the site no longer exists in the config DB of the Sites Db... same error page. I restored the site from an oldbackup. Same error page. I deleted the site and created it again using stsadm.exe. Same error page. The site has not been modified using FP2003. No other users are experiencing the problem. Has anyone experienced this?     - multiple SPS portals, WSS sites with one IP In a medium farm config. wth one cluster IP.. what is the best practice from hosting 1 parent portal site, 2 child divisional portal sites, 2 WSS team sites collections? WSS sites need SSL. Should I use host headers? I know SSL does not work with host headers.     - DNS entry question I have a unique scenario that I'd like some assistance with. I have a corporate LAN that uses Novell, an AD domain where SPPS lies and users connecting over the web. If I create links for sites such as http://sharepoint/sites/xxx they work only for users that I've added a host file entry in for. Their is some problem with the AD DNS. Aside from that, since most of the users are a member of the Novell NDS then they use different DNS and therefore cannot resolve that address. To make a site viewable by both I have to enter it as http://sharepoint.companyname.com/sites/xxx The third group is coming in over the web and using their AD account information to authenticate. I believe that they will need the links in the second format, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me what I'm forgetting here, aside from getting the AD DNS issue resolved which only impacts computers in that domain, which there are none at this moment. Thanks.     - 'Checking out a document' doesn't work anymore. I'm experiencing some very strange things with one of the Sharepoint 2003 implementations I have done. This portal server is having the following problems: - You can not 'check out' a document anymore (the browser times out (90 sec waiting), comes with a 'login box' and comes white a white screen) - You can not 'change the settings of a list' anymore.... Some changes has been made to this deployment this week. - We went from http and https connectivity to ONLY https access. (there are no firewall issues (i'm testing within the DMZ)). - The changed the primairy DNS name of the portal For the rest everything works ok! So I can upload documents, browse pages, use lists... no problem. Does anyone has a idea what the issue could be (or has seen this behavior before?). TIA.     - User's MySite has corrupted webpart I have a user that has a corrupted "Content Editor Web Part" on his MySite. Nothing, is in the webpart, and I don't know what happended to get in it this state. When you try to click on "Modify Page" or the drop down arrow for the part itself, IE throws a Runtime Error, "do you wish to debug" message. But, I have deleted the site, from site settings, site administrator, and the command line several times, and always the same thing. When he clicks on MySite for the first time after it is deleted, it does not go through the creating process, it just jumps back the site that was there before with the same corrupted webpart. This feature is not available in SPS 2003 because the default is Domain Mode". I created a new site the other day and found that users information doesn't return coreectly from the profile database.     - Step by step expanding multilevel collapsible navigation bar I need a collapsible navigation bar similiar as shown in the article http://www.sharepointcustomization.com/wss/articles/lists-navigation.htm. Because my basic Dokument Library List will have over 4'000 entries, I need a multilevel collapsible navigation bar (for 4 groups). The normal SPS allows only 2 groups, so I have converted my View with MS Front Page 2003 to a XSLT Data View. I have the "Sort & Group" for all 4 groups: checkbox-field "show group headings" on and checkbox-field "collect group" on. Now the Page shows the first level-group with all collected dependent groups as required. But when I click on the + Icon to expand a group for the next level, all dependent group-level will be expanded instead of only the next group-level.     - Alerts and the SMTP Server Hello, In the "Add Alert" area, the email address option is greyed out and disabled. I have read that sharepoint needs an SMTP server to be configured. I have configured this through Sharepoint Central Administration to use a mail server that I already have setup. I don't want to use the SMTP server that is built into IIS in Windows 2003. I already have a mail server setup and running for this particular domain. I can use that right? Or do I HAVE to use an SMTP virtual server on the Sharepoint server itself? Sometimes user receive the following error: <file://./backofficestorage.....> Workflow state transition wasn't saved. Please make sure that a user performing state change has appropriate permissions. In the application eventlog just before the above message the application has written the following message. Old state '1. Accounts', new state '2. Administration', caption 'Register', event type 'OnChange', ActionTable row ID '10'. Successful state change After this error message the user can continue without any problems. I've looked up the orignal message and it translates back to CDOWF_ERROR_OUTSIDE_EVENTSINK. What does this error means and where can I find additional information about it. Hi there, Would like to ask question 'how to avoid multiple login when editing files in sps2003, if the client machine didn't logon to domain controller' My case like this, all servers centralised in site1, all users centralised in site2, site3, site4, site5. Site2-5 would like to access site1 server's via https. No local file servers available in site2-5. Then I setup sps2003 server in site1, not yet with SSL encryption, & let site2-5 users access it. After the initial login, all users can browse the files. However when they edit any file on sps2003, it prompted for login again. For client side, machines are wxpsp2+office2003sp1, or wxpsp1+office2003sp1. Already tried IE's "trusted site" & "auto logon with current username & password", both cannot help.
