Hi NG

I hope everbody is doing well.

I have a few question when it comes to SharePoint Portal Server
customisation. The first question is I understand that there's 2 different
product Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal
server 2003, as Sharepoint services is the technology under Portal Server
2003. Now in the SDK I found some information on how to create a template
for Sharepoint Services and modify existing one, but how can I create a
default template (look and feel) for my Portal Server 2003 site?

How would I create a default header for all the pages in my portal site, so
when I modify it, it will take on every pages at once?

Where can I find information about customising the template, other than the
SDK?

True but in addition to this SPS 2003 includes a WSS "layer" which is
virtually identical to the WSS standalone product.

So virtually anything that you can do with the standalone WSS product you
can do there too. (
Your question is still valid however as you can do different things in the
SPS (top) layer.

But I'll leave that part of the question for an SPS 2003 'guy' to answer.

Hi Mike

Thank you for your prompt answer.

Do you have any clue for other thread titled :
Trying to modify the style for SharePoint Portal Server

I'm also having problem with this? Is there any good resources appart the
SDK from Microsoft? There are courses comming but they have not been
released yet on the MCT download site they show as TBD for the availibility.
The absence of usefull information is really starting to be a problem. We
are trying to push new software out to client in the case here we are going
to buy 150 000$ of license but there's no where we can find answers to our
question. Worst then that if I call PSS they want to charge me for every
question I have so it's like 250$ for each single problem I get, which make
no sense at all.

Hoping they will release some documentation quite soon.

I'm MVP for STS and I also know WSS quite well.

I don't know SPS well enough to answer questions on anything other than the
WSS layer.

Sorry.

Marc-Andre, you are in the right place.

You'll have noticed replies from James Edelen [MVP] for instance to a thread
just below this one.

But as always there is no obligation on MVPs to answer every question or to
know every answer.

Give it a few more days to see if you get an answer and then do a re-post
giving perhaps a shorter title (!) "how do we apply a template to the entire
site?" maybe; saying it's a re-post in the first line and consider amending
the text if you think that will make your problem clearer.

The thing not to do is put "attention MVPs" in the Subject line. That's a
real turn-off !
