Just a quick question, how can you create a workspace in Sharepoint?
Currently they're automatically created when a new Project is created. Is
there a way to simply sporn a new site?

Thankyou,

Nock

Hi Nock,

You can create a workspace the same way you create a SharePoint site. You
click Create, "sites and workspaces". Hope this helps.

SharePoint Portal Server does not allow you to create Document or Event
Workspaces from within a Document upload or Event Creation Page. While
the link to create a workspace is available, it then returns an error.
Workspaces are basically WSS Sites, so the only way to create them in
SharePoint is to go to your Sites area, Create Site in the left nav and
then in the Template Selection screen choose the Workspace you wish to
create.

Hope that helps

With the administrative area of PWA, click on "Manage Windows SharePoint
Services", after the page loads, click on "Test URL" for your SharePoint
Central Administration URL, When the Central Administration opens, click on
"Create Top Level Site" This will allow you to create a SharePoint site not
connected to a project plan.

Thanks Nikander and Margriet Bruggeman, but doesn't this just create a site
beneath another already existing site?

I need the ability to just create a new site, on it's own. I need more time
to hit the books and some training!

Thanks,

Nock

You can only create sites in SharePoint Portal Server in an Area which
uses the Sites Directory Template. An OOB SharePoint implementation
already has the Sites Directory area - in there you click Create Site
on the left nav and off you go.

If you have deleted the Sites Area, follow the steps in
http://spsstuff.blogspot.com/2006/02/how-to-re-create-site-summary-page.html

Hope that helps
