Hello,

On the portal home page there used to be a "Sites" link (ran horizontally
across the top) which has now disappeared. How can I retrieve this link or
would anyone know the url path to it. I assume its a generla url.

I need it to add wss sites to the approved list of sites that are crawled by
the portal search engine.

Thanks

has the link been deleted or permissions changed to access it ?
Make sure you are logged on to the portal home page as the Sharepoint
Administrator and on the laft hand side Navigation select manage portal
site - Can you see Sites in the tree view ?

The default url that it points to is
http://yourportal/sitedirectory/default.aspx

Rui
Has Site Settings dissapeared?
This usually happens if you change Authentication on Portal to Annonymous
Change it back
Site Settings
Manage security and additional settings
Change anonymous access settings
Nothing

If the Sites area has been deleted, it's gone, there's no real getting it
back as was. You can partially recreate it, but for some reason, not fully.

Another place to look isto follow the 'Manage Portal Site' link. If you see
yuor Sites area listed, then either the permissions have been changed, or
its been excluded from site navigation. You can check for site navigation
by editing its properties and looking ton the Display tab.

I think Rui was refering to sites not site settings as adding a site listing
is done via the sites directory not site settings
