Sharepoint appln not working after upgrading windows 2003 server

Hi All,

After upgrading windows server 2003 service pack (from service pack 1
to service pack 2) in the server where sharepoint is hosted, both the
Sharepoint portal applications and central
administration page are not working and we are getting the below error

Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server
is
currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web
browser to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this
specific request failure can be found in the application event log of
the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused
this error to occur.

Currently we have Sharepoint 2003,windows server 2003 - Service Pack
2,
IIS 6.0 environment.

I checked the IIS and all the application pools mappings are fine
with
the virtual directories.

I could see in the application event log Event ID: 502 is recorded
every five minutes
Error : An exception occurred in the search synchronizer.

Can anyone please suggest the work around for this problem.

The identical message was posted to setup_and_administration by you
(twice in fact but that was no doubt by mistake)

Please only post any one question to a single newsgroup.

Otherwise we have parallel threads; parallel answers and parallel time
spent in answering. Not good.

Hi Mike,

Sorry about that. I have been scratching my head to find a solution
for this issue.
Can anyone please help me on this?
