Hi All,

I'm having a problem restoring a 2003 Portal site from the content
databases. We've restored three weeks of backup databases with exactly
the same problem and have tried multiple web servers and sql server
combinations, some with fresh installs of Sharepoint and even SQL. The
log of the site restore is here http://www.daiowen.co.uk/W3WP.txt.

The significant information from the log file seems to be;

07/09/08 07:43:14:497 UNK 00000000 00000F78 DirectoryInfo C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\TEMPLATE
\ADMIN threw exception: Input string was not in a correct format.

&

07/09/08 07:43:30:330 UNK 00000000 00000FB8 Portal creation failed
System.ApplicationException: Unable to find entry for Portal Site in
sites hosted by database at Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Admin.c.f()

Thanks in advance for any help,

Hi All,

After some calls to Microsoft Support, they came up with the solution
below to the problem.

I didn't use this solution though, as I'd already retrieved the
correct field from a backup database, because after they identified
the problem, they said they'd take a few days to come up with a
solution and I couldn't really wait. But have tried the script on a
test environment and it works.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
