Searching Personal Content Source

Hi

I am trying to search the Personal Content Source in Sharepoint 2003. All is well when I search for Will. Returns Wills record from the People Content Source. However when I search for Wil* it returns a whole heap of documents connected to users with wil* being relevant for their usernames and not the original Will

I want in to return only profiles of these users

Without customisation, you cannot perform a wildcard search in SPS 2003 so I
am surorised that a search for "wil*" returns anything!

Have you tried populating some of the "People" properties, such as
"Preferred name"?
(You will need to set the "Search by type" to "People" and then the property
will be available)

Thanks Nigel,

Yeah I just found out that the contractor who initially installed SPS has installed a non-custom search webpart. I myself am a new contractor picking up the pieces, and have no experience with sps. Fun and Games.

What I need to do is set up the search to return only employees profiles with wild card functionality. The fields that you mentioned such as preferred name are populated by the AD Import.
