    - WSS 2.0 and Sharepoint portal 2003 restore question, problem bringing I'm sure I'm missing the most obvious item here... I have a 700 MB backup.dat file made from stsadm from an old server with another server name in another domain. The server I'm storing to is in other domain with another server name. I restored to a fresh Virtual Machine (Sever 2003 SP2) Server ... Created and configured the Central Admin with my own use domain credentials from AD... I'm also a Domain Admin in the AD and on the server I'm restoring to. I verified I'm using the correct credentials in the sites created and throughout the build. I created a virtual server on http://newservername:11000 and then used stsadm -o restore so on and so on... with an overwrite switch. It look about 30 to 45 mins to complete but went fine. I checked SQL for the db owner and it's me I checked sites and http://newservername:11000 is now listed in the new site in the sites table... I disconnected the current db from the virtual server and connected my just restored db... I restarted IIS and go to the site and it returns invalid object... I tried loading the url as follows... http://newservername:11000/?content=1 I've guy reinstalled the server and all software from scratch and I can't get the friggen thing to work... What am I doing wrong here, is this simply a matter of some rename or other command? No other backup options is available but command line.. Any feedback would be helpful.     - MOSS 2007: User memberships list does not get updated, not even after I have a problem that the user memberships as listed in the my sites dont get updated. When users are removed from a site as member, they cannot access the site but their membership list stays the same. What could be wrong??? Please advice..     - Form based authentication problem Hi, We're testing with form based authentication in MOSS and have run into the problem that our files will not open unless the user had selected "sign me in automatically" when they first signed in. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any possible solutions? Right now we are leaning towards just extending the cookie duration, but would like to have a more optimal solution.     - In SSP Admin page Search Setting link fails with access denied Hello everyone, Just a quick mention that apparently someone else has also run into the same problem that I'm having: http://objectmix.com/sharepoint/298712-search-settings-index-query-roles-different-servers.html Originally I had one server farm installation of MOSS 2007. I then moved from that one server to two other servers and put the Web Front End on one and the Index/Query server on the other. Everything seemed to be ok except when trying to configure the Search Settings. If I go to the SSP Administration Page on the Web Front End server and click on Search Settings it hangs for a while and then gives me an access denied error. If I start a Web Front End on the Index/Query server and go directly to the Search Settings page then it comes up ok. It appears that the difference between accessing the Search Settings on a WFE on the same box as the Index/Server vs. a separate WFE is the separate WFE needs to use a SOAP interface.     - Announcement Web Part I am setting up in Itranet Portal Site. I have subsites setup for each department with announcements. On the home page, I am using the content query editor web part to pull those announcements to the home page. I want one Content Query Editor web part to pull only announcements from one subsite (not a problem). I want the other content web part to pull announcements from all other sites except the one I just pulled from. I can't see where this is an option in the web part properties.     - Database Question Hello, I am trying to find out if there is a way to take data created in SharePoint and move it to an external custom datbase (i.e. SQL, not Access). My boss's grand vision to take task or other list data, with attached files and documents, and somehow magically move it with one click into an external custom database. The end goal is to have that data then replicated up to a different database that we do not control. From what I have read in my research I'm not sure if this is even possible. How would you move native SharePoint data out of SharePoint? If someone knows of a way that this would be doable, or knows of a third-solution that would render this capability, any information is much appreciated.     - "Edit this task" for workflow assigned task shows default task edit I have created a v. simple workflow in SharePoint Designer for my MOSS2007 site that assigns a task to a user (me in fact). When I run the workflow I correctly have a task assigned with the following text in it: ------------------------ To complete this task: 1. Review xyz. 2. Perform the specific activities required for this task. 3. Use the Edit this task button to mark the task as completed. (If you cannot update this task, you might not have access to it. Click here to request access.) ------------------------ xyz is a link to a list item and this works as expected. I'm on Outlook 2007, so I get the "Edit this task..." button in the ribbon, but when I click it I get the default edit form - i.e. the http://[server]/[site]/Lists/[list name]/EditForm.aspx - instead of the automatically created (by SharePoint Designer) workflow form - i.e. http://[server]/[site]/Workflows/[workflow name]/[step name].aspx The consequence of this is that I don't get the "Complete Task" option on the form, and I can't find a way to complete the task to allow the workflow to proceed.     - Usage analysis not working for one virtual server Hi, We are currently having problems with the usage analysis report for the portal areas on one virtual server - say V1. The report shows the hit counts as zero, but we know that there are definitely hits made on the portal. The same usage reports works for another virtual server on the same machine - say V2. The usage data logging and processing are enabled on the central admin. Also, i checked on the log directory and the log files are getting created every day. Surprising the WSS sites under the virtual server V1 also shows the correct usage analysis data. Only the portal area of V1 is having the issue. Its a sharepoint 2003 with SP2 installation and a simple server farm architecture with 2 front ends and a seperate index server. Any help in this regards would be greatly appreciated.     - Urgent: SPS 2003 upgrade fails on Prescan Hello, We are in the process of upgrading SPS 2003 to MOSS 2007. I have 2 servers: SPS2003 and MSSQL 2000 SP4. When i run the prescan /c preupgradescanconfig.xml /all i get "Scan finished without failure". The log file however, is showing me the following: 12/16/2007 13:42:13 Skipping virtual server: https://servername/. Server state = NotAdministrable. Most likely this virtual server is not extended with WSS v2. My server IS extended with WSS 2.0, so i don't understand why it is showing "notadministrable". Since the prescan utility is neccesary to upgrade to MOSS, i'm completely stuck. Please assist, because this is an urgent matter.     - Visio and Sharepoint (I had posted this in an unmanaged newsgroup, so here it is again.) MOSS 2007 Visio can pull data from SharePoint lists. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/bb229690.aspx I have the visio file and the data on the same SharePoint site. When I open the visio file it works fine. I have added a web content web part and used that to load visio viewer and display the visio file side by side with the data that it takes. Unfortunately, the visio file only updates when someone opens the visio file with the full visio applications. I was hoping the visio viewer in the web part would show the current data from the SharePoint lists and not wait for someone to open the file with visio and save changes. Any thoughts?     - custom workflow deployment Hi, I developed a workflow using WF and have some problem on deployment. If I install the assembly in GAC it works fine, but now I want to use custom policy, so I copy the assembly into the virtual server Bin folder, create a custom policy based on WSS_Medium template, and then modify web.config accordingly; but it doesn't work and failed in the workflow initialization page. The same method works for web part, but not workflow! I set almost all the permission to be Unrestricted but still doesn't work. I'm pretty sure its related to the security, as if I change trust level to Full in web.config file, it works immediately. Does anydoby know what went wrong?     - Permissions Question I have setup a forms library for users to submit sensitive info. The infopath form once submitted should be available for the submitting user to see but other users should not be able to see other users documents. Are there any suggestions on how to trim security settings so that users can only add and not view?     - Strange issue Hi All, I have a site and a subsite that are both of type Collaboration -> Blank Site on the subsite, when I check out the default page and discard the checkout, the Default.aspx page displays this error: This page is not using a valid page layout. To correct the problem, edit page settings and select a valid page layout." Also, in "All Site Content" I can see that the page is still reported as being checked out. When I force the UI to undo the checkout, then Default.aspx is viewable by me. Another weird observation, the default.aspx page is still correctly viewable by others. Is it possible to have a single sign on between the Sharepoint portal and the site aggregation web part pages, and if so how? This is the scenario: a.. User is challenged when Sharepoint portal site first comes up b.. A site aggregation web part is on the portal page referencing several pages c.. After the site aggregation web part comes up another challenge is presented (which I don't want) d.. The same users have access to Sharepoint portal site as to web pages in site aggregation web part. Although all the pages in the site aggregation web part and the Sharepoint portal server are on the same server they are different web sites on different http ports.     - Personal Site Service URL Question Got a question about URL's for MOSS 2007 and Personal Sites. After installing MOSS 2007, we have the following config: http://sp-3:9991 which is the server given address to the main portal site. http://sp-3:9992 which is the server given address to the personal sites (none of which have been created yet). We changed the managed paths for http://sp-3:9991 to something more user friendly, ie: http://portal.domain.com Currently, the personal sites are still configured as http://sp-3:9992. Is there a way to have it be something like: http://portal.domain.com/personal OR does it need to be it's own separate entity, like http://personal.domain.com Thanks!     - Problem w/ Custom Template "Employee Training Scheduling & Materia I have been in the process of developing a simple LMS for my company and started using the Employee Training Scheduling and Materials Template a few months ago. At that time, 'test' lessons that I created would automatically move from "Courses I am atteding" to "Courses I have attended" after the course end time had passed. I had stopped working on that aspect of the LMS for a while and I am now back in testing mode. Since I've been woking on this again, the Courses are no longer moving. I don't think I was doing anything before to make them move from the "to do" list to the "done" list, but if I was I must have forgotton what it was. I'm thinking the template behavior has changed but I can't imaging what would have caused that. Has anyone experienced this problem where the course does not automatically move from the one list to the after after the class end time has passed?     - Repeating section in MOSS? Hi, I'm creating some project management sites in MOSS, I'm using sharepoint lists to hold different field values entered by the user. The way it works is one group of users make an entry in the first list, that kicks off a workflow and creates an entry in the second list with some values populated from fields in the first list, then the workflow emails a user to alert him he has to come and fill in the empty fields in this second list and once that's done another workflow kicks off and another taks list then has to be populated for the third stage. The problem I'm having is one of the list fields the user has to fill in at the second stage is for project objectives, when they fill in the different objectives on the third screen I have to put these all into a drop down so each task can be attached to an objective entered on the proviuos screen. I can't see how to get this functionality with the standard sharepoint stuff, if it was in infopath I guess I'd use the repeating section/ table functionality and they could just create a new row for each objective but with sharepoint I can't see an alternative way to do this.     - Problem uploading documents I'm not sure what the problem is here, but I hope someone can help. I have a user that is browsing to a folder in a document library to upload a document, but when they click upload it asks them to log in as another user. If they use the new button in the toolbar and save thier document from word it works fine, and if I log in as the site collection administrator I can upload fine, but the regular account can't. Hi all,

So, sp1 is here...
I have two MOSS installation in a domain. First one is the one that was
migrated from 2003 to 2007, the second one is a fresh MOSS2007 install with
an Integrated Project Server 2007.
Now I want to Export sites from the first (2003-upgraded-2-2007) and then
import to the fresh one.

I want to apply sp1 on my fresh-moss-install, so my question is: is it
possible to import sites into moss2007sp1 that were exported from MOSS2007?

Not - I'm fairly sure - if you intend using stadm to do it. That always
seems to need identical version levels.
