    - Check-in/out problem We have a portal site using the versioning feature in a document library, but there seems to be a problem whereby a document that is checked out by one user, can be checked back in by another user. This makes the document available for others to check out an dedit, and renders the first user's version (the original document checked out) unable to be checked back in. Is this standard operation for SPS's check-in/out function, or is there a setting to adjust the permissions to disallow this ability? i would thin kthat allowing another user (non-administrator) to check in another user's document would defeat the purpose of versioning.     - Programmatically reset Users Role for an "Expired" Site? Hi, I have a site ("Applications") that lets nominated "reviewers" contribute to lists within the site until a certain "expiry date". When the expiry date passes, a WinService that I am writing will change all the "reviewers" permissions for the site from "Contributor" to "Reader". My understanding is that all "reviewers" will no longer be able to add/edit/delete their contributions to the various lists/webparts on the "Applications" site, but will still be able to View them... which is what I need. I seem to be unable to change the "reviewers" permissions without getting an "Access is Denied" exception being thrown... yet I am logged on as the SPS Administrator?!     - "My Site" Preload settings I am new to sharepoint... I want to pre-load some web parts under "My Site" as an administrator, so that when my clients click on "My Site" for first time , they will see that my pre-load stuff. How can I do that?     - mapping one crawled content property to another property Hi, We are having an issue mapping a property called Picture URL in the name space: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:sharepoint:portal:profile to the property called Picture URL in name space: urn:schemas.microsoft.com:fulltextqueryinfo It seems that this mapping was set up when the portal was installed, but the mapping has now been lost and is affecting a custom people finder application which uses this for photographs However when we try to go back into Site Settings - Manage properties of crawled content we find that the option to "map to another property" is greyed out for the Picture URL property under portal:profile Can anyone advise how we can re-map this property without a portal rebuild?! If I create a document workspace by e-mailing a shared attachment, users are able to work on their email attachment version of the document and have a link to the document in the workspace version to download/ upload/ merge changes.     - How to get top-level site collections names programmatically Hi everybody, I'd be glad if someone could solve my problem. I need to get the names of the top level site collections names; suppose I've created the managed paths "path1/" and "path2/", I'd like to get programmatically the array "sites","path1","path2", as it is when creating a new site: SharePoint shows a combobox with the top level site collection names, followed by "/" and the textbox where you put the name. The collection of SPSites returned by the SPVirtualServer object returns all the sites below these collections, included the ones under "personal" and itn't really what I need.     - How do I create a phone list from Active Directory? The business problem: I have created a list that contains 3 columns: Subject, Dept, and Contact. Users pull up this list to find out who to contact in regards to a given subject, such as Travel Info. The contact is a look-up field which lists the name of the contact. The name then links to their MySite page and thus the user can then see the contact persons info, such as phone number. I am developing the webpart in C#. Since there are a variable number of applications in the webpart, how do I declare, instantiate and set up child controls (possibly LinkButton) with appropriate event handlers dynamically? But I am unable to think of a way to create these controls dynamically and wire them to appropriate event handlers. More so, the latter, since I can atleast instantiate the LinkButton instances by querying the database in the CreateChildControls method and finding out how many application icons the user must receive, and instantiate them right away.     - Problem with webpart Hi, I downloaded the BreadcrumbSiteNavigation webpart from the website http://www.sharepointcustomization.com/resources/webparts.htm. I followed the instructions given in readme to install the webpart. After copying the dll file to the GAC and modifying the web.config, when I tried to add the webpart to one of the sharepoint sites, I got the following error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Web Part Page cannot be displayed or imported because it is not registered on this site as safe.     - No access to Sharepoint Central Administration Hi there I'm trying to install WSS (for use with BizTalk2004 BAS etc). I have installed it using the Server Farm option (as SQL server is on another box). When I try to access the SharePoint Central Administration page I get the "Service Unavailable" error. I have followed all the usual suggestions of creating a domain user and making it a member of the IIS_WPG and STS_WPG local groups and resetting the password, reassigning this as the identity for the StsAdminAppPool and running iisreset - with no luck. The only way I've managed to get past the Service Unavailable error is by making the user a member of the local administrators group - which I do not like. Anyone know of a more secure approach???? Also, now Iâ??ve temporarily got past the Service Unavailable error. It wonâ??t let me log on to the WSS Central Admin site because the login will not recognize any user/password combinations I try.     - Searching a document library I have created a document library that I would like to be able for users to search just its content.     - Backup to a mapped path issue. I am having trouble running a backup to a mapped drive location. The q: drive is mapped to a shared volume on another computer. If I run the backup to a folder on the local c: drive, it works fine. I can then copy, browse to the folder on the q: drive and paste the backup files.     - Indexing A Separate Portal Document Library Here is the scenario: I have 2 separate portal implementations portal A and portal B (not using shared services, totally separate). There is a document library on portal B that portal A should crawl. If I create a content source on portal A that points to the document library on portal B, how can I ensure that only the document library is crawled?     - Configure connection to portal site site attribute I'm in the process of migrating Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) sites to Sharepoint Portal Server (SPS) and with weeks of figuring out how-to do this everything is going smoothly. I only one answer that's hasn't been answered at this point. In SPS there is an option to "Configure connection to portal site" on each of the newly created sites \ webs, is there an argument in stsadm I can use to set this property to which I can script to modify all sites or are the settings stored in the database somewhere that I can insert.     - Re-sizing input list forms I have created my own cusomlist, and customized it by editing the Editform.aspx page. I have the page looking great and it works great but I want to change the size of the textbox. unlike on the view/display page when I add the list field into a layer it doesn't resize to the layer size. Click on "Site Settings", "Configure search and Indexing", then on "Manage
content indexes", and there is an entry on the drop down list that shows up
when you mouseover the content index called "Reset Content Index".
