    - Operation Aborted Event ID: 3036 Hi, I have the following problem on a Sharepoint Portal Server as follows: I can log on and browse the site but when I try and change any site settings I get the following error in the browser: Operation Aborted I am logged on with the site administrator. In the event log there are loads of the following errors: -------------------------------------- Event ID: 3036 Source: Microsoft SharepointPS Search Service Category: Gatherer Description: The content source <sps://sitename/site$$$people> cannot be accessed. Context: http://sitename/Application, Portal_Content Catalog Details: Operation aborted (0x80004004) --------------------- This is a single server installation hosting one site.     - email problem I have tried to configure incoming email. Everything seems to be configured ok, I've made the following test to make sure that email is picked up: I send and email to the list, email appears in drop folder. After a short while eml file disappear. If I stop the timer service. The email will sit in the drop folder. This makes me think that the OSTIMER is picking up the email. however nothing is created in the discussion board. I've enabled the option to allow any sender for that discussion. What am I missing? Web SSO - 2 Recommendations I am looking for a fully functional Web SSO solution that resides in SP 2007, i.e. users login to SharePoint and from there users can jump to third party web apps without having to login again. Almost all apps rely on the same AD account - some are forms based. This is new territory for us. We know what we want, but don't know how to get there. We're looking for 2 recommendations (1) what is the best strategy for making this happen in a short period of time? and/or (2) are there consultants or vendors out there who can make this happen in a short period of time? We would like to have a handful of third party apps using WebSSO with SP as the launchpad by August. We're asking all the experts in the room... is this doable?     - about reporting svcs Hey all i know this is slightly off topic but i plan to use reporting services with the webparts the below is why i am getting 401 unauthorized access and unable to view reports in SharePoint. Having the following issue i've configured reporting services i'm attempting to access the reporting services site. i can only access the site with integrated authentication if i use http://localhost if i try and use either the dns name http://liiftsql01.liift.com.au or using the ip address i get a authentication dialog. i'm using NTLM authentication i've checked the host headers in IIS nothing there should be stopping access any ideas?     - What's the password for "My Site"? Yesterday, I installed the MOSS 2007. After installation, I replaced the "Content Database" to the SQL 2005 Enterprise, not the SQL 2005 Express. After that, when I try to create the "My Site", the system asked me to input the username and the password. I entered the right username and password.     - error creating deployment path - known issue resolution fails ok so I am attempting to migrate a large amount of content from one MOSS server to another on a different farm in the same domain. I have migrated all of the sites except the largest (of course) which has failed using the same technique as the others which was to use "stsadm -o export". If I use "stsadm -o export" it failes about 50-60% the way through the import. I have even tried the nofilecompression option on export and import to get around disk space problems. Anyway, i want to try the migration path option but when I attempt to set up the path I get Value does not fall within the expected range. After some hunting around I found two references to this problem: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101633851033.aspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926281 The machine I am trying to migrate has been in use since Beta TR1(?) I believe and has since been upgraded to RTM. The problem occurs when I attempt to run the set of commands described in both articles as follows: Stsadm -o deactivatefeature -name deployment -url URL Stsadm -o deactivatefeature -name migration -url URL Stsadm -o activatefeature -name deployment -url URL Stsadm -o activatefeature -name migration -url URL When I run either of the first two commands I get the following error Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\deployment\feature.xml' Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\migration\feature.xml' I have looked and of course those files do not exist. What I dont understand though is that they do not exist on my new clean server to which I have been importing content to and that I am able to create deployment paths from the new machine to the old...     - Web Image file manager for SPS 2003? I would like to enable users to use a web based (image) file manager to add images to a online web editor. The images are stored in a picture library and uploads should be added here too. For now I have Tiny MCE web text editor and I need the option to add pictures from SharePoint. The same Vendor has a filemanager, thsat should be fine for the task except it does not handle web paths (that is, I cant give it a web path for the picture library)... any ideas to provide this functionality (without writing the functionality on my own that is :o)?     - Restore Capabilities. Hi, Hoping someone can help me urgently. I've just deleted a document library on sharepoint server 2003 by mistake. Its around 213mb in size and although in theory it can be restored, it does contain alot of version history. Our sys admin guys claim that it is possible to restore the document library and the all the version if they do a full portal restore. But everyone else in the organisation loses any chnages they made to the portal in that timeframe. Is it possible to simply restore a document library itself, and all the version history that is held within it without using the above method. Surely it if possible to be a full restore; it should be possible to do a partial restore of just the deleted library in question ? Hoping someone can help me as i'm in deep trouble !!     - How to change AD-Passwort Hello, i have installed a publishing site from the sps 2007. We have a forrest of AD-domain controller. Some domain-controller arent in use at the moment. That means, that we have setup the users in the dc. But only to use the publishing site. The dc will start in the future. Now we have a problem, when we dictate, that a user must change the passwort at the beginning and then after every 42 days. When the passwort ended, the user couldnt loggin.     - Upload multiple ZIP to MOSS from Vista If I want to upload multiple documents to MOSS 2007 from a Vista client, I can not select ZIP files, because they are not shown in the selection window. They are visible if I upload one document, so they are available. Learning materials like SCORM are in a ZIP-format, so this is quite a nuisance. I hoped SP1 would have solved the problem.     - Change default sharepoint page I just setup the sharepoint server. I have created new Sites and Workspaces and would like one of those sites to be my default sharepoint page. Right now when you go to \\ServerName it brings up the default sharepoint page that has nothing in it. I created a page called home at \\ServerName\Home and that is where I would like it to default when someone types in \\ServerName. I don't want to tell people to go to \\ServerName\Home, I just want them to have to remember the server name and have it go to the page I want it to. I attempted to change it in IIS with no luck.     - Stored Procedures Data view webparts Hi Guys, I've had a stored procedure created that works in the following way User log's into SP>using the (LOGIN_USER) parameter the user's id passed to stored procedure>stored procedure looks up user's group memberships uses these to grab the appropriate data for the user. Have tested the procedures themselves they seem ok having issues with what looks like the sub stored procedures. Having the following issues basically i get a generic error message when i try to drag the connection in using the (LOGIN_USER) parameter wondering if anyone knows how to turn on full logging to actually see an error message.     - Moss2007, Reporting Services and Access Mappings We are getting an error with Sharepoint and Reporting Services. Installed Moss2007 Installed Reporting Services Configure Reporting Services (db on another SQL server) Install the RS add-in Configure the Sharepoint side of Reporting Services At this stage everything it working. The server is at http://servername, and the reporting services site is at http://servername:8080/reportserver. Both of which work fine. Then I need to change the site to have a meaningful url, so I go to Alternate Access mappings and change the Default Public Zone Url to http://intranet.company.com and configure the dns accordingly. Go to http://intranet.company.com and the site is there and working perfectly. So, to check on RS.....Go to Site Settings, Reporting Services, Manage Shares Schedules and I get..... ERROR An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. If I reverse all this and go back to http://servername everything works again!?! The "Sharepoint - 80" site was running under port 80 with the default header. I don't have problem when I install SharePoint server 2007 x64 and English langage pack x64 with SP1 . the langage pack install it's ok but when I want to create a new site, I can't choose the language. in "C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Microsoft Shared \ Web Server Extensions \ 12 \ TEMPLATE \" I have the folder "1033".     - Corrupted SPS 2003 Configuration ?? Reconfiguring RE: Corrupted SPS 2003 Configuration ?? I'm running the prescan tool against a Sharepoint Portal Services 2003 server. I get this error: Skipping virtual server: . Server state = NeedUpgrade. Most likely this virtual server is not extended with WSS v2. This KB says my Configuration is likely corrupted: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937291 and suggest I do these steps: To resolve this issue, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint Central Administration. 2. On the SharePoint Central Administration Web page, create a new configuration database. 3. For each virtual server that was extended, click Configure Virtual Server Settings, and then click Remove Windows SharePoint Services from Virtual Server. Remember to keep the existing content databases. 4. Use a blank content database to reextend the virtual server. 5. Under Manage Content Databases, remove the blank content database, and then add the existing content database. If Prescan.exe cannot upgrade a content database, you may receive the following error message when you try to upgrade to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Problem is step #3 does not offer a Remove button or option in SPS 2003. I've recreated the environment and created a simple site on a VM. I'd like to POC that I can recreate an sps 2003 site's configuration. Does anybody have the actual steps? Also, I'm a bit confused about some terms and concepts.     - Login Problem I installed mssql, sharepoint 3.0 then tfs (SERVER\Administrator for setup, SERVER\TFSSERVICE for service account) everyting went fine, i configured everything and we started to use it. Today i configured the server ip manuely then i installed team foundation build on the same machine. still there was no problem on local at server. but i couldnt reconnect on my client. After that i restarted the server and wola ! cant login to tfs on server too. Then i guess there can be some access problems, i opened sharepoint centra admin and it promted me username & password i entered it and wola ! access denied. (account was working & its the default system admin account) i uninstalled mssql, wws, tfs after this problem and re- installed them. Still i can not login and can not found what is the problem or what is causing this. there is no active director if you wish to know. =DD hope you can help me for this problem.     - Convert published pages to regular pages I have a series of Article pages with just a body that were created using the Publishing features. Now I need to store these as regular pages, such as those found in the Shared Documents Library. The reason is that I need to provide the content of these pages to external users via a CD.     - Errors in layout when visualizing .RDL reports in MOSS 2007 We are encountering several layout problems when displaying .RDL reports in Reporting Services in MOSS 2007. Our reports were exported to a Reporting Services project in visual Studio from an Access DB using the SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access. The visualization in Visual Studio is correct but when visualizing it in MOSS 07 the layout is all disordered and incorrect. Does anybody know why this happens and how to solve it? Thanks! No IIS Virtual Server I am attempting to restore a sharepoint Site from one SPS 2003 server to new install. I've installed wss and sps on the new server and configured the database. I've not created a top level site, but I can get the default web site to come up.. I've moved the backup over but when I attempt to restore the portal site I am prompted for an IIS virtual server but nothing drops down so I can't select OK. Thanks for any help or information.     - Cloning a Sharepoint 2003 Portal Server .. Config DB confusion ?? We VM cloned a Production Sharepoint 2003 Portal Server. Changed the IP and Server name. On boot up noticed some bad things.. like the VM still pointing to Production for Config.. and worse.. Production (occassionally) pointing to the VM for content databases.. yikes.. Okay, so we fixed the VM so it's not using DNS or the AD for that matter and can't see the Production Config DB while we think this through. I log in as a local Admin (no choice) and run the centralized admin on the VM.. as expected.. I see this error: Unable to connect to the configuration database. Ensure that the database server is online and that the configuration database exists. If the configuration database administration account password recently changed or expired, see the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Administrator's Guide for instructions on how to update the password. If the configuration database or database server is permanently unavailable, click Disconnect from configuration database I want to be careful and not hose the VM environment.. but I am wondering, what steps can I take to point to the local db for configuration? And will I be able to do this with a local user and no AD? Right now, I have an option to Disconnect from configuration database (which is the production DB) .. eventhough clearly I'm not connected to it. Thanks for any help or information. I have been tasked with documenting the out of the box Moss 2007 web parts. I
need a basic description and how to configure them. Has anyone seen something
like this anywhere? Would save me a ton of work since I cant seem to copy the
text on the add web part page.

Hi Shay

To get the list of available webpart for your site with the descriptions from the Add Web Part Page you can do
following:
* Goto Site Actions | Site Settings
* In Galleries choose Web Parts
* Create new View (in the View drop down in the Lists toolbar)
** View Name Documentation
** Columns: Group, Title and Description
** Sort by: Group, Title
* OK
