When users edit the properties Author, Keywords, or Comments via the
Sharepoint Edit Properties web page, the changes DO NOT appear on the web
site. So it's like they did not change.
If I open the file in Word 2007, I can see the edits in
(Prepare->Properties) under "Document Properties" and "Server Properties",
but the web site never shows them.
If I dig deaper and go into "Advanced Properties" within word (same place as
Document Properties), and I go to the Custom tab, I will see files called
"_Author", "_Keywords", and "_Comments", and those are the properties that
are displaying on the sharepoint web site. If I edit them from within word,
I see them edited on the web site.
I guess I would just like whatever is being edited, to also be the field
that is displayed. There seems to be a disconnect somehow.

Some Document library properties are tied to the document properties.
This is
funcitonality of a document library, and works this way for some of
the other fields
as well for example Title.
can you clarify what you can and can't do from where on the following
set of comments:
