I have exchange 2003 and SharePoint 2.0 running on the
same Server 2003 machine. I have done everything that the
KB 832769 has told me to do to fix the issue of
authentication. Exchange web access now works but I can
not get my Share Point sites back up. I can not access my
configuration DB (RemoteSQL on the same server) from the
administrators page. I have added the account requested
to SQLServer but still no change; here is the line that I
believe holds the key:

"If you use a remote Microsoft SQL Server 2000 server and
you want to use NT Authority\Network Service as the domain
account, you have to add the Domain\ComputerName$ entry
and configure it with Database Creators and Security
Administrators permissions. By doing so, Windows
SharePoint Services can to connect to the remote SQL
Server computer to create the configuration and content
databases."

I believe that I have done this correctly but I am not
sure. I am fresh out of ideas; any suggestions would be
helpful.

Exchange and SharePoint are not supported on the same server. Put these two
products on two different machines. This is your solution.

Bill

Thank you for your reply. I just want to make sure that
this is my only solution before I invest in another server
and software.

Are you positive there is no workaround? The knowledge
base article does not explicitly say either way (of
course!). It seems to imply that the two can coexist;
have you talked to someone at MS to confirm?

If anyone else has any information on this I would love to
hear from you.

Thanks for your help on this.

James
