Hi there!!

Well, I'm currently desgining something to solve the issue in the subject.
We came to a point where document level access control is required.
For example: We have different document libraries in different areas and
we need to expose some documents of one library to certain users only.

So basically we're right now in the process of working with crazy ideas (but
doable ideas of course :) ).

Right now I'm thinking of this possible solution, and I wanted to ask you
about your opinions:

1) For the Web access

a) First of all, all users would have readonly access to every document
library in SPS.
b) By customizing the form when the users publishes a document , the user
would be asked to select the target users (the ones he wants to share the
document with) from the ADirectory. That would be stored in a custom field
of course , or an external SQL DB.
c) Create a custom Document Library browser to replace the actual, and
this webpart should automatically filter by that custom field , and showing
the document only to the pertinent users.
d) We could also create a custom webpart to show :"New documents for you"
or something like it.

2) For Office access:

In a controlled environment the only choice that comes to my mind is an addin
to control the interaction with SPS.

That's, it, I hope it's clear, otherwise just let me know.

I'll accept any comment and discuss on the matter as this is a project we're
working and will be working for the time.

Thanks,
Victor
