I am trying to determine if there is a specific "Enterprise" version
of MOSS 2007. From what I have can determine from Microsoft's site,
there isn't a separate "Enterprise" installation, or even a separate
Enterprise license key, but rather it is just an additive CAL. In
that I mean, you buy a standard CAL for each user on your system, and
then you buy an additional Enterprise CAL for each user.

Since it is a CAL, you don't have to activate anything on the server-
side. Does this mean all Enterprise features are 'installed' and
working regardless? I am not trying to insinuate I should just do
this, but rather cover the legal aspects for a customer.

I am trying to estimate costs for this customer and can't seem to find
anything about a separate Enterprise MOSS SKU or installation.

Anyone do this already?

Thanks,

there is no seperate installation of MOSS 2007 enterprise edition .. but
there is a seperate key for the enterprise installation ... so eventually it
means ... everything is there when u install even the standard edition of
MOSS ... but the features are disabled ... features like ... excel services
are not available in standard edition ...
if u change liscence from standard to enterprise ... u must apply the new
key to the server ... this u can do by using the central administration >
operation section ...

regards....

Do you know how to get this key? I am trying to order the enterprise
version of SharePoint from my vendor and they do not list anything but
the standard edition. The only thing that makes mention of Enterprise
is an Enterprise CAL for each user. Since they are CALs, they aren't
really 'serial numbers' or anything that I need to install right. If
that's the case, how can I get Enterprise?

Thanks,

Steve

Here's what I am referring to that might better explain my question:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointserver/FX102176831033.aspx

Does this imply that if I buy just one (1) Enterprise CAL I will get
some serial number that I use to install SharePoint Enterprise?

Notice that there isn't any mention of an Enterprise Server package.

Thanks,

Yes that seems to be the case. Its not some much that you install
SharePoint Enterprise. But the enterprise key activates the enterprise
features. (i.e. Report Center, BDC, etc...)
