    - MOSS 2007 Blog template Comments section modification Hi, I set up a MOSS 2007 Blog site allowing anonymous access edits and additions to the Comments List. This allows visitors to my blog site to leave comments on my blog posts. All Good so far. Except, by default, it only captures the Title and Body for the comment. I wanted to add a custom column for Name and display that in the comment entry. Well, I'm not having much luck with that. I've managed to add a custom column to the Comments list and selected it in the default and Summary view. I even modified the Shared Web Part for the Blog post and ensured that the Summary View for comments had the Name column selected. Now when I add a comment, I get the Name column but after submission it doesn't show up in the comments section of the blog post. Any Ideas? Shary M.     - Configuration I'm really familiar with SPS2003, however I lost when it comes to configuring a Top Level Portal. I was able to install and configure Web Applications then extend the content so I have what look like seperate and independent team sites, ex: http://servername/sites/it etc... When I go through some of the labs I see what really appears to be the Toplevel portal with the Team Sites underneath. Anyway, I'm sure I'm missing something very obvious. Any help would be great.     - Unable to Create Sub-Sites & Areas (anything else works fine) Some of our portal users have started to complain that they were not capable of creating sub-site in our environment. After some investigation I discovered that there are two things that are not working correctly. First it's now impossible to create a sub-site. We keep getting this error message: The URL '/sites/anything here' is invalid. It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in the current Web. Second, when trying to creat an area we get: An error has occurred in the portal site. Contact the portal site administrator for assistance. Anything else is working fine: creating libraries, pages, top level sites uploading documents, adding users into groups... in fact nobody complains of anything else than that so we can safely say it's the only problem. Both front-end servers are up-to-date in terms of patches (OS, SPS & WSS) I did try the stsadm -o upgrade -forceupgrade without any success.     - Site User Webpart I have two questions regarding this site users 1) If updates are made to a profile in AD after the initial import, how can I get them to propagate down to SharePoint users 2) On my services site the Site Users web part has my Messenger status next to my name along with other actions (availablity etc).     - Cannot create a variation in MOSS 2007 unless you are administrato I have this special problem. When giving users the ownership of the site collection, they have the ability to create new sites but it is not possible for them to create any variation of a publishing site.     - Mandatory inherithing permissions group Hi all, I am the owner of a site collection and I would like to let some people create sub-sites under my site collection. When creating a sub-site, I know it is possible to inherit the right groups. It is also possible to copy those rights and have this su-site have it's own. Is it possible for that particular site collection to enable the creation of sub-sites but disable the ability to copy the right groups and manipulate them at the sub-site level.     - Selectable list which references different content to be filled I am trying to create a list where the following two choices below (when selected) will each display their own content to be filled out. Sharepoint Portal Server 2007 does this feature on its own when you choose to creat a new column. Where you select the radio button that had the content you like... and then below the required information for the content you selected is displayed. I have scheduled this task to run every morning. --I have review the following logs: server, IIS, SQL, SPS. There is NOTHING conclusive. --I have gone through each website and verified they are not running .NET 2.0 --As a test, I switched the websites to run on .NET 2.0, ran the upgrade command, reset IIS, and broke it. I verified the web.config file was changed. I switched the websites back to .NET 1.1, resetIIS, and ran the upgrade command. All worked fine again. Two days later, same problem. 4) Problem only occurs on my prod box, and only between the hours of 2-6am.     - restore central admin back (plz help) Hi, I've went into "Alternative Mapping" section and changed the Central Administration's url which is "http://servername:26208" from 'default' to 'internet'. I clicked "save" and it gave an error, now I cannot get to the admin site. When I try going to the admin site it asks for username/pass but ends up resulting in HTTP 400 - Bad Request.     - "cannot retrieve properties at this time" Hi, We are developing a MOSS 2007 publishing internet site and we are experiencing problems with the content editor webparts. The latest problem with the webpart we cant seem to fix. The problem only occurs in internet explorer 6. In IE7 and firefox the problem does not appear. When we enter editmode on the content editor webpart and clicks either source or rich text editor, we get a popup stating "cannot retrieve properties at this time". the editor window then loads nicely and we can edit the text, but when we click ok we get another popup stating "Cannot save your changes". I found a couple of post with a similar error message but that was for SPS2003 and the fix (assigning host headers) did not work for us. Does anyway have any ideas?     - sharepoint services I realize this fell into the wrong catagory, but here goes. I am creating a Calendar Project for a local healthcare org. I am using WSS 3.0 and have found how to create additional event fields to add great profiling capabilities for the individual volunteers. Here is what I need to get to: I am looking for a way to create volunteer profiles which can be stored within the sharepoint site and then pulled from a drop down menu for the ease of calendar administration. I realize this is vague but heres a drill down look. Step 1. Enter the volunteer information into a sharepoint profile. (enter once-use many times) Step 2. Open the calendar, enter the event into the day, such as morning on call staff pediatric ENT Dr. Step 3. Pull a volunteer dr from a dropdown list, which will then populate the link field with a link to the full profile for the staff volunteer coordinator does not duplicate specialties on any given day.     - Database list adapter I don't know if SP can do something like this. I would like to be able to use a Sharepoint list to edit values that I have stored in our database. I have a custom table in our datawarehouse called 'Stores', and I would a) like to be able to display this in Sharepoint as a list (which I think I might be able to do with the Business Data Catalog. and b) be able to edit each Store just as I would edit an item in a regular Sharepoint list.     - connecting excel web parts in MOSS 2007 Hi all, I have a customer that needs to display an excel services sheet in a web part and based on the selection in the excel web part, filter/ synchronize the display of another web part (preferably another excel or reporting services web part). Basically a master/child display. The excel web part can only receive connections as far as i can see and not provide information. Has anyone done something similar or found a workaround or even a creative approach for this? Can reporting services web parts do this? Any ideas would be very much appreciated.     - MOSS 2007 Workflow copy error in Hi, I have a form document library which contains an Infopath 2007 web form template that a user fills out and submits to the library. There is a workflow in place that once the forms have had content approval they are to be copied to another form document library. The issue I am having is that the workflow is stopped once a document has been approved due to the following error and the form does not get copied: User ID: System Account Description: Error copying a list item Outcome: Unknown Error The System Account has been given Full Control on both the start and destination document libraries. I was wondering if there is something I am over looking here as I have used workflows to copy documents before on another site and did not come across this issue. I checked the settings on both the sites where it has worked before and the site I am encountering the error on and there are no differences. This worked for a while, i made changes to the form template and republished to both of the libraries. The form templates are identical. I cannot find any errors in the logs.     - Target Audiences using Active Directory Hi, I am trying to find an easy way to manager user access to certain web parts, but my groups I created in active directory do not show up when I try to browse or type them in when I am selecting the target audiences. I thought MOSS 2007 would easily pickup the security groups created in active directory to be used globally on our sharepoint site. is there something I'm missing?     - MOSS 2007 Lists and libraries don't show up in Quick Launch, no matter what setting I have made some 'empty' sites under the root site, and the document libraries and lists that I make, dont show up in the quick launch, even after setting the 'Display..on the Quick Launch'.     - Site Directory and upgrade Hi; We are in the process of upgrading from SPS 2003/wss2 to MOSS2007/ wss3. On our test upgrade machine the sites that were upgraded do not show up in the Site Map. Is there some way to have them 'appear'? I have no problem moving sites around. Also, we have 5 web applications/ virtual servers with sites on for our global regions.     - To assign security groups to site groups in SPS 2003 Hi, I have a small great problem in my Intranet based on SPS 2003, and I can't find the solution. I import the user profiles from 3 different domains, all of them with the corresponding relations of confidence to each other. By means of query LDAP I import only usuary and user groups active, and when I watch those that have been imported, are those that they have to be. The user who uses SPS to import the profiles is a normal user of one of the 3 dominions. Up to here everything is well. The problem I have at the time of assigning a security group of a domain to a site group, once imported the profiles and verified that they exists in the list. With users and groups of the same domain to which the user makes the import are no problems. Even they appear in the searches of the dialog of selection of users. Nevertheless, in this dialog it does not appear no object of the other 2 domains. Manually (without the mentioned dialog) I can enter accounts of users of the other 2 domains, and SPS accepts them, but when I do it with a group it gives an error. I do not understand how it works this of the domains. I have consulted it with the people in charge of it in the company and they do not contribute lights either to me. I am making something bad?     - Re: Trouble with Member_List webpart in SPS 2003 Hi, I have a Sharepoint Portal 2003 in 3 servers: front-end, search & index and data & configuration. I import the user profiles and audiences from 3 domain controllers in Active Directory without problems. All the areas, searches and webparts works fine, as expected. But I need to set up a list of members of an area of my Sharepoint Portal, and now I am in trouble. When I drop the webpart into a zone of the page, it shows an error like this: "Your search encountered and error. If the problem persists, contact the portal site administrator." The client computer has Office 2003 and Windows Messenger 5.1, and the e-mail address of the user belongs to an Exchange Server (I don't know his details). What I have forget? Regards.     - Form submission failure in workflow I have a standard Shrepoint 2007 setup which I've published through an ISA 2006 server with an https listener which uses LDAP authentication. The client to the ISA server traffic is all https/ssl and between the ISA server and the Sharepoint server its clear http. The Sharepoint databases are on a separate SQL server. I have configured the external website addres in Sharepoint. Access to most of the site functionality is fine but when I go into a start workflow form and enter a name and press the validate name button I get an Infopath Form warning: Warning Powered by: Infopath Forms Services The form cannot be submitted to the Web server either because your computer is offline or because the host server is currently unavailable. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator. This stops the form submitting. As far as I'm aware I'm not offline and the host server is available - any help much appreciated.     - Local cache for documents from a moss doclib? Hi there, we are experiencing several problems working with sharepoint document lists over internet because of the limited up/download speed. So working becomes quite slow, even with out bigger files like presentations. Do you know any cool solutions for this problem? The best would be a kind of big local cache for the webdav component, which may be synchronized regularly. I have also heared about other tools to use like Groove, Colligo Contributor, Webdrive.
