Unfortunately it won't work with Outlook 2003 pretty well.
You can receive reminders only from your default personal calendar in
Outlook :-/
If you want to be reminded about an event in an events list, the first step
is to copy that event to your own personal calendar.
This creates a static copy of the event in your own calendar.
Under the below link you'll find how to set it up in Outlook 2007 (which is
generally better option for WSS 3.0/ MOSS 2007)
