I need to upload some documents into sharepoint which already have some data
in their document properties, such as subject and comments. However when I
perform the upload this data is lost and is not transfered to the document
properties within Sharepoint.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

If you use Upload document button within document library, the properties are
lost since Sharepoint offers you blank fields to type them. If you don't type
anything in the fields, properties are left blank.

But, you could open document library using My network places and then
drag&drop document in it. You just need to make sure that document properties
also exist as fields in document library with the same name.
