Whenever I try to insert a url into the "template url"
field under general settings of a doc library, it says the
following:

"Invalid template URL

The template must exist in the Forms directory of this
document library. Create the template in the Forms
directory, and then re-type the Web address. Note that you
cannot move or copy a template into the Forms directory."

and when it does accept the URL (such as shared
folders\forms\), it tells me that the document doesn't
exist, which it blatantly does.

Anyone know what I could be doing wrong..? Where
specifically to place the doc perhaps?

Or is there any way round using these blasted templates?

Hey Pete, (I seem to be talking to you a lot lately lol
^_^)

The thing is, I do point to the template file as well;
I've tried everything. It finds the file, and is ok to
load it to "edit template file", but when I click on
the "new" button on the document library, it opens word
saying: "template file not found", and then opens it
anyway o_O

You haven't confirmed whether you are, in fact, placing the template in the
/Forms directory. You must do this either by creating a network place to the
document library in question or opening the site and Forms folder in
FrontPage 2003.
