    - Multiple Logo on Sharepoint Site Hi, I have something that I'm not very clear about creating multiple Sharepoint sites. I have been working on a sharepoint site and has tried changing the color and logo of the main page (changing the SITELOGO.GIF, and other CSS that is involved). The problem is, when I change this, when I create a new Sharepoint site, it uses the same files SITELOGO and CSS files that I already replaced.     - Dropdown menus are clipped on widescreen monitor I am using SP Services 2003 and am finding that the dropdown menus clip badly on my laptop monitor, to the point that they are unusable. This laptop (Dell Precision M60) has a wide screen with an unusual aspect ratio, 1680x1050 px is the resolution I usually use. I'm using the out-of-the-box default site (just learning the product).     - Using the [Me] Filter Hi, I'm trying to filter results on the [Me] condition, however this only works for fields that are "Created By" etc. Currently I have a drop down box with a list of users. I imported them from Outlook 2003. Users should only see items if the drop down box has their name selected. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.     - Full text search not working though Full-Text Catalogs are available We have a SPS 2003 installation on our network with SQL Server 2000(Full text search installed). The problem is that, when I search for a term say 'California' in the home page, I get only two results (Lists). But there are a lot of docs that has 'California' within it but are not present in the search results. Our full-text catalog on the site DB seems good as it has total of 71941 Items, 258027 unique keys and 26 MB of content. To test the full-text catalog, I ran the following query, "select count(*) from Docs where contains(content,'California')" and the query gave me a result of 119. I am wondering why those 119 documents didn't show up in the search results. Also under, Site Settings > Configure Search and Indexing >Include file types, doc,pdf, ppt are all included but they don't show up in the search results. Has someone encountered this before?     - how to associate template for an area This is probably an easy one but I can't figure it out... I created an Area template by copying one of the existing SPS template folders and renaming it SPSCUSTOMAREA. Added entry to WebTempSPS.xml and edited default.aspx. I create a new Area 'Test Area' and place it on the same level as 'Topics', 'News', and 'Sites'. Nowhere is there a place for me to specify a template for this new Area. When I Edit 'Test Area' and click on the Pages tab, in the SUBAREAS section I see that my Custom Area template has been added to the dropdown. But I want to change the template for the AREA. In the AREA section, there are 3 radio buttons. I think I should choose option 3 'This area uses the following page as a template' and /Test Area/default.aspx is filled in the textbox. But how does SPS know to associate the default.aspx file in the SPSCUSTOMAREA to this URL? Tag: Docuement library Tag: 45892

When we tried to use discussion on IE from a client computer installed Office XP we got this kind of error :"Error adding discussion on server XXX. The server does not appear to be a valid discussion server." Based on posts before 2003 in some newgroups, I know that Sharepoint point server web discussions may not function correctly on a machine running Office XP. In this case, you must discuss the document from Office XP directly instead of from Internet Explorer. However, we have purchased Office XP licensing on most of the computers and deem web discussion as a powerful functionality to introduce SPS into our company.     - Deliver doc via subscription email? We are using SPS 2001 + SP3 on a Win2k server. We would like to allow the user to choose, when creating a subscription, whether they would like notifications via email to include a url to the document (the current way it works) or include the actual document as an attachment to the email notification. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? If not, is it possible to customize the subscription software to support such a feature? Has anyone tried this or is there a 3rd party product or extension to Sharepoint that will allow this?     - Free text filtering (of columns) possible in list views? Hi! Is there a way to do free text filtering (instead of the dropdown) on a list. I have a list with names.     - HTML-Translation for only one virtual server hi everybody, anybody who knows a solution for this problem? I want to create a virtual server, that uses the same content database, but is accessed only from outside. this "outside-virtual-server" must not send eg. word-docs as documents but as html-views. I want to make it possible, that users can access the conentent from outside, but i have to prevent, that office-docs in native format get outside the company. i think, that using the html-viewer is a nice idea and it works fine. With modifying the htmltransinfo.xml it is possible to define, that only html-converted docs are shown, but this is for the machine, not only for the vs. Is there a possiblity to define this htmltransinfo- settings only for a virtual server or is it necessary to install a second hardware.     - Editing 'Document Inspection/Show Actions Page' Hey Everyone! I need to edit the page or script that generates the Document Inspection/Show Actions page. Does anyone know where I might find it? Basically I would like to change the field that displays who a document has been checked out to so that it displays the user 'Display Name' instead of the username. The problem is that we use numbers for our usernames, so when a document is checked out to x654872 we want to see the Display name of Doe, John instead of the number which is the username.     - Urgent: Customizing main Help link on the Portal Hi We are having 3 different portals for 3 different clients on the same physical front end server.These are Sharepoint Portals and not WSS sites. I want to customize help for all of the portals, so did create my own mapping xml file and my custom help dir and custom help files. Now I want to customize the main Help link on the portal home page and othe area pages to show my custom help. I can do that by pointing the <helpmain> key to my custom help file. But now my problem is , the same custom help file is shown for other portals also, which I don't want to happen. The SDK explains that to map the main help link on the top navigation bar on a WSS site just add a script var navBarHelpOverrideKey = "KEY_NAME"; But this does not work for a Portal site and the SDK does not talk about how to do it for the portal..     - reformat webpart headers Hi, Is it possible to change the rendering of the webpart "container", i.e. not just the content. All webparts renders the headline, borders etc using the same HTML. E.g. the header is always a table: <table TOPLEVEL border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> with only one <TD> The only changes I can make seems to be the content part. Ok, praise the CSS, but sometimes it's not enough. Making round corners for the head of a webpart... not very easy if you only have one <TD> to play with...     - #RENDER FAILED We have created a document library with a custom view, and saved this library as a template. We have then used this template to create doc. libs on other areas of the portal. We moved the portal from dev to production using SPS Data Backup and Restore Tool. Our library works fine in dev, but in prod we get the error "#RENDER FAILED" in this situation:Our custom view displays only 10 items, and when you click the next button to see more items, you get this error. We have discovered that this only applies when the library is sorted on a date column. If it is sorted on for example "title" , we dont get the error... We are using SPS 2003.     - Moving a SPS2003 I'm trying to move a portal from a serverA to serverB. For this task i've tried a number of different ways. The problem is that the sites still have the address http://serverA... instead of http://serverB... I have tried the obvious, using the backup and restore tool indicating the new server to which the portal is restored, to the desperate, modifying the content database (the sites table) to point to serverB, but no matter what i tried, the message is still the same when i access http://serverB/ , "Under Construction".     - Pass authentiction to external site From the home page of my Portal site, I would like to display the contents of an external web site using a Page Viewer Web Part. This site is on a different server, but both servers are on the same domain. The external site uses Integrated Windows Authentication, and my Portal server uses the same. Is there any way to pass the user's logon information from the portal server to this external site?     - Upload new document but content is old when viewing Does anyone know if there is a way to correct the following? A user checks a document out of a document library. They make changes, upload the new version and check it back in. If they click on the document to view their changes, they see the old version. Once they exit the portal and come back in, if they click on the document they see the changes. Is there a setting for caching that can be changed so the user will see the new version immediately?     - Q: SPS navigation panel management What way can the navigation panel (the one on the left side of the page) be reorganised? Strangely, the navigation panel on the home page contains links to one area in particular and I find no way to modify it. I have no idea why this very area is given preference over the others.     - Restrict domain administrators access Hi, I would like to know if it is at all possible to restrict the access rights of the Active Directory groups "Domain Administrator" in Sharepoint Document libraries. The reason is that we want the Human Resources document library to be only accessible to those members of the HR group. However, it seems that people from our technical department (who are part of the Domain Admins group) are able to overcome this barrier and access every document anyways. I see that I can go into "Manage site group permissions" and deselect the "Use personal features" but then you lose personal alerts...grrrr what are they thinking...     - Topic Area Hi I was wondering if there was a 'better' way to diplay the topics in the topic area. The defualt webpart for the Topic Area is the 'Browse topics by' webpart. Howqever this doesn't have much in the way of customisation. The reason I am asking if there is a better way, is that we have 42 main topics under the topic area some of which have 2 or threee sub topics. This has lead to a very cluttered page.
