    - Application integration I have a couple intranet applications on a separate server that I would like to incorporate into our new SharePoint portal. I'm not concerned with SSO right now, just getting the application to display within the visual confines of the portal. I remember doing this in SPPS 2001 pretty easily a couple years ago. I believe I just defined a WebPart to load it and it would show in an iFrame, but I'm not sure how to do it in 2003. Could someone please point me in the right direction?     - How to change the gatherer log file path? We've done some research but cannot find anything in the Administrative help files on how to change the gatherer log files default location without making the change directly in the Registry. Has anyone else done this? Does it require we "Enable advanced search administration mode"? We have run into a disk space problem with the C:\ drive (default log file path) and want to move it to another partition.     - problems with theme in sharepoint menu I created my own page inside sharepoint, and I'm using the sharepoint menu to show some context menus. It has a variable named L_Menu_SiteTheme, that I suppose it has the purpose of applying some style to the control to the menu, but it doesn't work, and I didn´t find a way to do that. Also, I found that not theme is applyied to menus, the only difference is between the default (that is blue) and any other theme (that is brown), but I could't achieve this effect. Any idea??     - Username/Password prompt problem Using SharePoint Server 2003 on Windows Server 2003. I have added all my users using the domain\username option. On some machines, it recognizes the domain username/login and on other machines it prompts the user for their login information three or four times in a row.     - It is possible to relocate a list on a site? I have a list that was built on our site at: Root Location\sub location1. Another administrator on our site has created a new line of pages on our site for the same purpose being served by sub location 1 above... so now I have content for the project that the site serves both at root location\sub location 1 and root location\sub location 2. I am trying to merge these two sets of data into one area. Is this possible? I have already tried saving the data lists from Sub Location 1 as templates with their content and moving them up to the root location, but I cannot see the stuff created in the sub locations up on the root locations.     - Need update on the "Change Location" feature/bug I've been reading the posts on the Change Location issues and would like to know if anyone has an update or solution. I'm running SPS 2003, and the site has multiple areas. I just want to move a list from one area to another, but whenever I Change Location and then go back into the list it still has Home as the default location. I've tried the suggestion to deselect the Home checkbox in the site/area list, and that doesn't work.     - FrontPage, VirtualPC and Web Part Properties Hi all, I am doing some modeling of a portal setup using VirtualPC. Everything works fine except for when I try to access Web Part Properties from within FrontPage 2003 for a web part. When I try to do this (on either Portal or WSS), I get a standard "The page cannot be displayed" error (the one that goes on to say something like, "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable..."). Perhaps I am missing an entry in DNS? All I added was the A records for the various portal and WSS sites. What URL / address could the Web Part Properties command be looking for?     - Page width We are trying to get our portal pages to fix a minimum resolution of 1024x768. Our best efforts seem to get it down to 1043 pixels - if you reduce the browser window size below that, the header banner area doesn't reduce further and the horizontal scroll bar kicks in. WSS sites appear to go down to 1006 pixels (roughly). Having looked at the HTML, there are some "nowrap" attributes in the portal text bits (i.e. the area name and the portal name) - taking them out helps, but the PageHeader web part (the bit that pulls in the image and the My Site/Site Settings/Help links) also emits some nowrap attributes and that prevents the window from shrinking any further. Is it possible to alter the code that the PageHeader part emits? Has anyone managed to get the page width smaller than this?     - Cookie-cut template problems 'Cannot complete' error for site settings admin Hi folks, I've cookie-cut a nice template for our clients SPS site and registered it using stsadm.exe -o addtemplate. All works fine until I try and get to the site settings admin, when I get the well known 'Cannot complete this operation' error. No problems on our DEV server, only on the LIVE server. After following a tip for another similar scenario I've checked that the impersonate="true" is set in the web.config file. Any help truly appreciated.     - Going from Dutch to English Hi, We have a Dutch version of Sharepoint installed. Now we want to move to the English version of Sharepoint but we are not sure on how to do this or if we even can do this. I want to install a new server with the English Sharepoint on it. Then I want to disconnect the Dutch version from the database and connect the English version to the database.     - Error when saving a web part I now get the following error when saving a web part: An error occurred while saving a Web Part. (-2147220954) Note that: - I do have a coordinator role - I did a search for this on the web and found a Microsoft KB article (314776) with a similar error message (but different number). However, the KB didn't help. -Restoring a backup copy didn't help. - This was working before! The only noticable difference between now and then is the company has upgraded its active directory.     - Editing of documents (check in/out) Hi there, I was wondering.. is there any way that it might be possible to check out documents and edit them remotely (IE from a users machine). If I log onto the box that hosts the Sharepoint Portal Server I can edit these fine with no troubles. But if I access the Portal from any other machine on the network not running Windows 2003, I receive a small error. Something about "this requires a windows sharepoint services compatible application". I suspect I know exactly why this is the case.. but my question is: is there any way around it? Currently each user has to subscribe to news individually.     - Accelerator for proposals, MSProposals.asmx can't connect Hi, first I'm really not sure if this is the right place to post this but I can't find a more specific newsgroup so sorry if it's not. I'm trying to setup the accelerator for proposals on SPS 2003. But I get Cannot connect to web service error message when trying to open a proposal file on my client computer.     - ex-admin user still have admin rights Hi all, I have a user who was in the portal 'Administrator' group. Now, I moved them from this group to the 'Reader' group. But after re-login he still has all admin rights. After that I removed him from the list of portal users. All users from my domain are included to the 'Reader' group (and this user either).     - Publishing a site list to the portal? I've got a department web site and I've created an FAQ in the site. What I'd like to be able to do is push the entire FAQ up to the portal, but I can't figure out how to do that. I've tried exporting the web part but when I import it into the portal, it says the list doesn't exist. Can anyone suggest how I can do this? When I switch to the "All documents" view and open the document I have still the old version! Why? When I switch back to the "Explorer View" and open the file I get the new version! Hi,
When I create a list at the Area/subarea level, and I
select Display on Quick Launch Bar, the list does not
display in the Quick Launch Bar.

The list setting (Change general settings) looks the same
as for subsites (WSS) but just doesn't appear at the
Area/subarea (SPS) level.

Any ideas?

It appears that none of the portal area templates include a quick launch bar
with list/library links. I suppose you could add this using FrontPage 2003.
