We have been working with a number of SharePoint portal level libraries for a while now. With these we have been able to OCR some TIFF files for searching content, and we have added an IFilter for PDF file searching. This has all been working well

Recently, it has been recommended that we strucuture our pirtal content within libraries contained within "sites" under the portal. When we do this, and move same / similar content to these libraries, our ability to search for content withing TIFF and PDF files ceases to function

Do we need to do something additional to get the functioning of the IFilter / OCR features that work in a portal area to also function within a WSS site? Where have we missed the boat?

Sorry I'm not here to help, because I have similar problem like yours
Search for a keyword on wss site return 13 match documents from the site, while searching with the same keyword on the portal site (sps) returns only 5 match from the same site. The documents are all pdf type, iFilter installed on both web server and sql server. Security is not an issue, I perform the search as a user who have portal admin & wss site admin access.
