Hi there

I am trying to configure SPS content crawling correctly.

I do not want ot use an admin account for the default crawl account because
I do not want users to see search results that they do not have permissions
to.

If I configure a crawl account that does not have admin rights, I get the
desired result in that users searches only return what the user has rights to
see.

However, when I remove the admin rights of the crawl account, alert
generation fails and there are various errors in the notifcation logs as per
the following:

24/10/2004 16:40:10 Add sps://<portal_URL>/site$$$site/scope=*
The address could not be found, (0x80041205 - Access is denied. Check that
the Default Content Access Account in SharePoint Central Administration is
correct, or follow the "Exclude and Include Content" link to add a rule to
specify the proper crawling account to access this URL. ) Access Denied

The address could not be found, (0x80041205 - Access is denied. Check that

Config is small server farm in shared services config, SP1, using seperate
virtual servers for each portal and host headers.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue??

Many thanks, Justin
