We are trying to copy a discussion board from one team site to another. The discussion board resides in one team's "lists" folder, but that member is now being given his own site. Does anyone know how to move the discussion board and its contents without having to type them all in again.

We have already tried the conventional method of copy/paste, which does not work properly in this activity. We are only trying to migrate the board, not the whole site.

Thanks,
Evin

Evin,

you should be able to save the discussion board as a template (from 'Modify settings and columns' and include the actual contents, then save the template to your hard drive (from the 'Site Administration' and then 'List Templates' page). Then you can upload that template to the other site into the List Templates section.

Full details of saving templates is in the SPS admin help file.

Pete.

Hi Peter,
I'm trying to do a similar thing with lists. I need to create a list which
is to be used by 600 concurrent users, so I'm thinking of creating the list
as a template, then make the template available on the branch sites. Would I
copy this in the same way as Evin?

Thanks
Liza G
