Moss 2007
When I use the content query web part to show all tasks assigned to [Me] on
one site collection it works. When I do the same thing on another site
collection it doesn't. Both sites and site collections have the same
features enabled.

When it doesn't work the web part says "There was an error retrieving data
to display in this Web Part." Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks

Hello Super,

I reviewed the technet article at this URL that states that the content
query web part by default only returns data on up to 1000 lists:

Additional performance and capacity planning factors (Office SharePoint
Server)
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263061.aspx

Please check if you have run into such scenario.

This is not a capacity issue. There should only be 1 item returned. The
query simply doesn't work at all.
On one site, the query will actually provide [Me] as a radio button after I
filter by Assigned To.

On the other site, this does not happen.
Both sites have the same features.

The sites are very small, they are brand new and empty. This query should
not be a problem.
The issue is displayed even in the interface for the content query web part.
It looks different on one site. I can send you a screen shot if it would
help.

Hello Super,

Thanks for the clarification.

Before we go further, I would like to know if there are any
multiple-selection columns. Also, please reproduce the problem, note down
the exact time (hh:mm:ss), and let us know the exact time in your reply.

#1. Collect Trace log
==========
a. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\12\LOGS folder.
b. Send me the last ULS logfile (<servername><date><time>.log)

#2. Collect Event Log
==============
a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. In the Run dialog type "eventvwr.exe" (without the quotation marks), and
then click OK.
c. In the opening Event Viewer windows, double click event viewer, click
Application, click the Action menu, and click save log file as.
d. In the File name box, enter the event name to be saved, and click ok.
e. Repeat step3 to step4 for "System".

Please attach the log files and the screen shot of the error message to
your reply or send them as mail attachments to v-adapan@microsoft.com.

I look forward to your reply.

Ada Pan
