Logging in issues
We just deployed MOSS 2007, and I have a slight issue with my log in.
When we first deployed, I logged on at my computer with the Sharepoint
Admin count to configure settings and such. However, now when I
"Login as different user" to work with my personal My Site, it keeps
automatically logging me in as the Administrator account instead of my
user account.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Tag: Auditing file access Tag: 98965
Webpart Infopath XMLFormView Style issue.
Hello,
I have created a class lib webpart to display an InfoPath template
based on a xsn template path using the InfoPath XmlFormView control. I
am working with the sample status report InfoPath template. I have a
custom masterpage and styles sheet and have built many themes each
with their own styles sheets.
When I add the webpart to the page, I get the expected look and feel
of the assigned theme.
Pict:
http://www.cavitt.net/picts/infopath/good.jpg
When I add the xsn template path to the webpart and apply it, the
master page is still applied but the page losses its style sheet and
reverts back to the default SharePoint styles
Pict:
http://www.cavitt.net/picts/infopath/bad.jpg
I have also tried to add Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Contorls as
a safecontrol and just use the XmlFormView that Microsoft provides and
get the same results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Users are receiving prompt: Some files can harm your computer. If the file
information loks suspicious or you do not fully trust the source, do not open
the file.
You are opening the following file:

Project Tasks Query
I have created a sharepoint site that has a project task web part.
I have 5 users assigned to this site as members
When I create a task and assign it to user A
User B is also able to view his task - which is not an issue
However User B can edit/delete User A's task as well.
How can I stop this without any additional programming and without
having to set individual task level permissions.

multiple Document libraries on one page
Hey all,
Having a slight issue with document libraries basically the design for
some of my pages calls for multiple document parts but all to hold
different document types i.e. One for word templates one for
compliance info etc. Wondering
How can i create these and point the associated web parts to the
proper folder to look at rather than the default documents
I've seen that i can filter the view but not alter the directory it's
look at for the documents. looked at the code from designer and can't
figure out were this is happening any help would be muchly appreciated. Tag: Auditing file access Tag: 98954
export or replication of list data
Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice please. I am using a list to hold a
catalogue of products of which there are about 5,000. One of the
fields in the list is a block of XHTML which can be 10-50K.
I need access to this information from a server not running Sharepoint
and want to work out the best option. The pattern of list updates is
about 10 new records added each day. Updates and deletion from the
catalogue list are rare.
1- Direct access to the list in its native form in the SP database -
not recommended or supported so I understand.
2- Use the SP web services. I can see these as being useful for
smaller lists but would they really be practical for fetching this
volume of data? A bit slow perhaps
3- Create a table in a second non-SP database which has columns that
match the fields of the catalogue list. Implement event handler on any
change event on the catalogue list to write to the database table. I
should always have a up to date version of the list data in a database
schema to access directly by my chosen means.
I would be interested to hear any comments on these, or any better
ideas that I have overlooked.
Many thanks,

storing a filter between pages?
Hi,
How I can store a filter to reuse it in other pages?
I have an initial page where I'm displaying content coming from a BDC model.
the page is called with an querystring parameter
(default.aspx?customerid=AFKA)
but, I have other pages into my site and I want to keep the customerid=AFKA
parameter. and also, I want to keep the default navigation feature of MOSS.
as you can anticipate... the querystring is NOT stored and applying to the
underlying links from my default.aspx page...
so... what can I do?
do I have to write my own filter webpart to store the first selected
customer into a cookie and reuse it in my other pages?
or there is another option available in sharepoint?

How to display source code in a Blog
I just tried to make my first Blog entry in on our Sharepoint server. The
first thing I wanted to Blog about involved a snippet of source code. I am
shocked that there is no obvious way to insert a code block into our blogs.
I thought that I would just enter a <CODE>...</CODE> or a
<style="WHITE-SPACE:pre"> in the HTML editor, but once this gets back into
the RTF editor, the layout of the text has been destroyed. This is very
frustrating.
I asked around here and no one had a good answer. People have gone to great
and painful lengths to create neat code using tables with spans for
indenting, etc. This should not be this hard. How is this supposed to work?
The only easy way seems to be to screen capture a bitmap which is going to
really irritate the first person who tries to cut and paste the snippet. Tag: Auditing file access Tag: 98928
MOSS Link Translation?

Document menus have disappeared for new library items.
I migrated documents from one library to another using network
locations. Of course, I lost all history, but the Creative Director
wanted his own top-level library for his Design documents, and didn't
care about history, so....
But what distresses me is that the document menus aren't accessible.
All my other libraries have documents with accessible document menus
(with Send To and Edit and all that), but these don't. I have
versioning set up for the library, but it's all handled through the
Windows interface.
Is there any way I can get the document menus to appear again? Is this
some sort of consequence of populating this library with documents
that were migrating using the drag-and-drop method from one "network
location" to another? But why? I can understand losing history, but I
thought document menus were one of the features of libraries in
Sharepoint and it never occurred to me that they could disappear. I
don't see any setting that would affect this.
I am completely stumped. I also miss my document menus.
Any advice, please send my way..... Tag: Auditing file access Tag: 98914

Documents locked for editing after check-in
We have several customers using WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 that have
encountered a situation where files are locked for editing to the
modified by user after the user checks the document back in.
1) User checks out document and edits
2) User checks document back in and closes Office application
3) User attempts to check document out again to make another edit
(immediately or hours later)
4) User receives message that the file is locked by themselves
The workaround that many customers have found is to ask an associate
to check out the file and check it back in again. Amazingly, even
though the first user receives a locked message, any other user with
edit rights is able to check the file out and check it back in. Once
this occurs, the original user can edit the file again.
Does this sound familiar to anyone and is there a workaround or a
fix?

Actionable reports.
I would like to get ideas on how how to enable report users not only
just view reports but also take action after viewing a report by
collaborating with collegues. Here's a use case-
- A project mangager (PM) logs into a portal and view a projects
status report listing current status of all projects managed by him.
- He finds that one of the projects is falling behind due to a pending
task that Peter is working on.
******Collaboration piece******
- In the portal itself the PM enter in a comment for Peter to clarify
the task's status.
- Peter logs into the portal and sees the PMs' comments. In response
he adds a comment that his task completion is dependent on the the
CEO approving a pending PO.
- PM logs into the portal opens the same report and sees Peters
comments. He updates his weekly project issues report to highlight
this dependency.
I have seem Microsoft Performance Point demos that exibit similar
collaboration features. I am not sure if the collaboration piece
requires Performance Point or is it a Sharepoint feature. Any ideas on
how to implement, what technologies to use would be appreciated.

IIS not serving up Administration Console for MOSS 2007 outside
Hello, I am able to logon locally to the MOSS 2007 server (single

saying that I do not have the rights to see the website. If I logon
with a local admin account while remotely accessing it, I am able to
get into the admin site. If I logon to the admin consle with a
domain account, I get the http 404 error. (not authorized to view
this website)
the following things are setup -
1. NTLM Authentication
2. Domain Accounts for MOSS 2007 Administration/Authentication (not
local)
3. 1 account for all administration of the MOSS 2007 environment (sql
admin as well)
4. MOSS 2007 admin account is local admin
Other than that, standard setup. I even tried testing setting IIS to
allow all users access (checked the allow anomynous access box)
rebooted and tried, same issue.
2 things that are strange, is that 1 - I can access the administrator
page with a local admin account even though a local admin is not a
sharepoint admin.
2 - locally everything is fine/ except if I try to go to http://LOCALHOST/(mysite)
I am not able to go to the sharepoint site through local host as the
dns name.
Also, fqdn name is one thing.. portal.company.com friendly name
is another - company
I think that might be the issue.....

Asked for Username/Password accessing Sharepoint through VPN

The employees log in via Smartcard with their Domain Account.
When they Access the Sharepoint Site, they are asked for their credentials.
And every document they open, they are asked for their credentials, too. When
they press ESC for 3 times, the document appear. Also if they type-in their
domain credentials.
Is this behaviour by design? Can I change this so that the employees don't
need to reauthenticate in sharepoint via VPN?

Filter Web Part error while linking to KPI
Hi.
I have a KPI web part that retrieves values from a KPI list, which get
the indicators from an Analysis Services cube.
In the same page, for testing purposes, I have an Excel Web Part that
renders a PVT showing the same indicators as the KPI WP.
Finally I have 4 filters in the page that send values to both the KPI
WP and the Excel WP.
The thing is: sometimes, when more than one filter is used, the KPI
does not show the correct values - it should always present the same
values as the PVT, and it doesn't. Although the KPI WP explicitly says
(in Edit Mode) that it has active filters from the correct sources.
Does anyone had this kind of behavior, or have any clue to what I
might be doing wrong?

However there are two groups of recently added users who have pretty

However if i change user and switch to any of our other users they

Argh - importing spreadsheet problem
We have encountered another compatibility problem between MOSS and
Office2003.
We spent several weeks tracking down the problem that prevented 'edit
in datasheet' working (dll issue) and now are trying to import
spreadsheets.
Our Workstation SOE is Office2003SP2 + Project2007
We *Cannot* upgrade to Office2007 in the near future due to massive
change management issues for 3000+ users.
We are rolling out our intranet in MOSS. Looks good except when we try
to 'import a spreadsheet' to create a new sharepoint list in MOSS. We
get the error:
"The list cannot be imported because a Windows Sharepoint Service-
compatible spreadsheet application is not installed".
Of course it is. Excel 2003SP2 is sitting quite happily on the
workstation.
What is the fix? How cn we convince MOSS that there is a spreadsheet
it can use?

icons in Sharepoint
I need to be able to distinguish between a JPG and a PSD file--they
are both named the same thing by the designer. Does anybody have the
same problem, and can any one tell me where to obtain these file type
icons? Tag: Auditing file access Tag: 98864
My Inbox
I need to display a read-only inbox on a shared kiosk. Because of what the
display looks like, I can't really use a web page web part linking to a
public folder.
So, I have a user called general to receive the mail. I gave 'default'
reviewer rights to that mailbox.
I set up a user called kiosk to log in to the kiosk computer.
When I access the site logged in as a domain admin, the 'my inbox' displays
a line with the navigation arroes, a line with the headers, and the e-mails
in 'message' format, without the preview pane. That is what I want.
When I vew the site logged in as 'kiosk', the web part 'my inbox' exactly
like OWA, including the preview pane. How do I get it to display like the
domain admins? Tag: Auditing file access Tag: 98863
Hello,
We are running sharepoint 2003 server. We would like to be able to audit who
access file and what time on our intranet site. Is this possible? Thanks
