Hello,

I have a issue when installing the new Adobe Acrobat IFilter 6.0 is breaking
SharePoint feature "New Document" i Document Librarys. When installing the
IFilter i get the following pop-up when trying to click
on New Document" in a Ducument Library

"New Document requires a windows sharepoint services-compatible application
and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater"

I'm running SharePoint Portal Server 2003 with all the latest service packs.
I'm trying to create a new document in a SharePoint Portal area ( not
Windows SharePoint Services - have not testet here yet ).

Anyone seen this before ?.

/Strunk

Try creating a document with New Document in the WSS part of SPS 2003.

If that doesn't work we might believe that installing IFilter has something
to do with it ...

(I seem to re-call a recent thread with the same problem where the answer
was that New Document isn't available in the SPS part - but I might have
been dreaming that)

Okey.

It seems that its when i alter the file DOCICON.XML and add the line:
"<Mapping Key="pdf" Value="pdf16.gif">"
Am i not supposed to do that ?.

That's 100% normal to get the pdf icon instead of the standard windows icon.

There ought to be no connection between that and New Document not working.

I agree but never the less the "New document" does not work when i add the
line in the DOCICON.XML file.
Removing the line again makes the "New document" work again. So i guess
we are stuck with PDF files showing up with the standard icon "icgen.gif" in
the document librarys.
