 - Interception of done button Hi all, Do you know what is the WM_COMMAND send to a dialog box when we click on the OK and the Cross icon on the top right of the window? For OK, I can see that I receive WM_COMMAND with LOWORD(wParam) which is equal to 1 but I can't find the associated constant. When I build my project a error like this appear: error C4995: 'CeOpenDatabase': name was marked as #pragma deprecated The project I build in EVC is ok and then update to VS2005 and build in WM5.0 configuration, the error appears.  - PPC 2003 SSL Error I connect to a webservice I created to download data to the PPC. I have used one PPC for the development and I have had no problem connecting and downloading the data. Now I'm trying to put my app on other devices similar and completely new, but I get errors when trying to connect to my Webservice. "Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TSL" and another one about my network credentials not being accepted. The settings are all the same!  - Serial Port COM1: Problems With Window Mobile 5 The Window Mobile 5 hangs on suspend mode when the serial port was left opend and connected to a device which streams data to the serial port. I did not had this problem with the Window Mobile Second Edition 2003. I have added to code to capture the message just before the suspended mode and close the COM1 port, but I can not retive the message if the serial device receives data on the port. Initial I though it could be to do with the power managements process of the serial device but right now I dont any idea as to why it hangs.  - VC++ development in WM5 .Net compact framework Hello, I am new to Pocket PC development. I have been developing in VC++.NET for desktop. I am trying to run a "Hello World" example in VS 2005 for Pocket PC. If I use C#, the project set up is staightforward. But when I choose to use C++, I can set up a win32 smart application project in native code only. I don't see how I can use .Net class libraries to develop code. The tutorial video from Microsoft explained that it's trickier to do Pocket PC development in C++. Does this mean MS prefer people to use C#? Thanks. SetDlgItemText(IDC_TEXT_MSG, _T("Is this working?")); ... and nothing happens. The text remains what I have set using the caption property in the editor. I tried this ...  - WinCE 5.0 NDIS driver loading + signing I've built an NDIS miniport driver for CE 5.0. It loads and runs on the Platform Builder 5.0 x86 emulator. However I cannot get it to load on the SDK ARM emulator. Neither will it load on a JasJar device. In fact DriverEntry is never even called. I've heard that drivers need to be signed before they can be loaded on CE5. So for the ARM emulator I signed my driver with the priviledged certs in the SDK. This made no difference. I've also heard that if a driver is loaded dynamically after the boot process then this gets around the problem of signed drivers, but this hasn't worked for me either.  - GDI alternatives? Hi, I've been using GDI for my, by now rather large XP/CE, MFC program. I'm not all that happy with GDI, it seems limited in functionally and speed so I'm looking for something faster and more versatile. I don't need any alpha-blending stuff, just some fast and pretty line drawing, polyfills, bitmap rotations and the ability to switch into fullscreen mode. I suspect GDI+ would almost be sufficient, but AFAIK it's not supported on PocketPC. I'm not thrilled by the idea of implementing DirectDraw in a big MFC program, and I read somewhere that it wouldn't offer much of a speed improvement. I've got the following message : "All attempts to connect to the deployment target at port 5654 have failed. Addresses attempted: 127.0.0.1. Connect to device failed."  - new to .netcf2 and ppc dev Hi guys. I'm totally new to this platform (previously on UIQ + Symbian). I have a few burnin questions and I hope this is the right ng to ask them (my apologies otherwise!)... My first priority is to code using C# on .NETCF v2 (WM5) so any answers in that platform would be greatly appreciated. However, I am aware there are limitations and I'm willing to explore a C++ dll that I can call from managed code for other functionality. So here goes: 1. As I understand it, the OS or .netcf can terminate the app when the system is running low on memory. This is similar to Symbian. However, in Symbian, I could trap a certain exit message posted into my app and decide how I want to handle it. One of the ways of handling it is to prevent my app from terminating (in some scenarios, I want this to happen). Is there a similar fashion to achieve this? 2. On the Dopod 900 device, you can close the flip screen. Is there a general mechanism I can setup to watch for messages and see what message gets posted when this happens? I want my app to do certain things when the flip is closed. 3. How do I read resource strings from my resource file?? :( 4. How do I forcefully terminate a phone call? 5. Is there an alarm server available in PocketPC that I can use? E.g. I can post an alarm into the alarm server that says "Expire the alarm at 10:15pm with the following ring tone. Identify my alarm with a GUID number that only my app will recognize so that it won't show up in other apps like Calendar, Clock, Tasks etc." Code snippets would be helpful. :( I'm still struggling with things (only 1 into this!) but I can surely tell you that the learning curve on this platform esp on .NETCF v2 is much easier than Symbian's C++.  - Soft Reset delayed? Is it just on my device (HTC Universal) or every Windows Mobile 5.0 delay Soft Reset when I click the Reset button with stylus? I've noticed that it's been delayed for a 1 or 2 seconds, but if I reset it programatically (from some program) it is reseted immediatelly (like on WM 2003SE)?  - This is odd... I have a SD card slot in my device and I'm using FindFirstFlashCard() to succesfully enumerate it and to find out it's path. Everything works ok, but if I remove SD card from memory slot, FindFirstFlashCard() does not return INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE as it's supossed to, cause there are no cards in the device.  - Serial no Help Hi, I have tried all the code examples in this forum for obtaining the serial number of my PDA(iPAQ 1710 running PPC2003) and they all work fine - but none return the exact serial number thats on the back of the PDA. I have written code for a Casio DTX5 (running HandheldPC) and have used CLBGetDeviceIDCode() which returns the exact code on the back of the PDA - can the same be done in PPC because i want to tie each program I write to each PDA so they cannot be copied. The code works as I get serial numbers back but none are the same as the s/n or p/n numbers on the back of my PDA. Can this not be done for PDAs running PPC2003 because i have developed code for a Casio DTX5 (running HandheldPC) and have used a function CLBGetDeviceIDCode(); which returns exactly the serial code on the back of the terminal - I want to protect my program so that it cannot run on other PDAs. After searching google and the Windows Mobile 2003 SDK I found that there are no native DirectShow API's for Windows Mobile 2003. However, I found that the new upcoming Windows Mobile 5.0 will have native DirectShow API support. I also found that the Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK has already been released. Is there any way that I can take the libraries from the Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK and use them with the Windows Mobile 2003 SDK to develop an application for Windows Mobile 2003 that uses DirectShow? But there are two versions: v1.0.4292.0 and v2.0.5238.0, located repectively in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\CompactFramework\2.0\v1.0\WindowsCE\ and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\CompactFramework\2.0\v2.0\WindowsCE\. The v1.0.4292.0 DLL does not have HardwareButton defined. In fact, it only has, as I recall, three objects: InputPanel, Message, and MessageWindow. The v2.0.5238.0 DLL has MUCH more, including HardwareButton. But when I add the reference to v2.0 and tre to build my project, I get this error message: Metadata file 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\CompactFramework\2.0\v2.0\WindowsCE\Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.dll' could not be opened -- 'Version 2.0 is not a compatible version.' Hi All,

I am pinging few devices in a range and I get response from few of
them...
Out of them few are Windows NT machines and only one is Pocket PC
running on Windows Mobile 2003 SE. How can I distinguish this device
among them?

Can ping response alone help me differentiate? I don't think so...

Can I read the registry or file system remotely? Any pointers plz...
