POCKET PC PHONE EDITION AND GPRS CONNECTION
Hi everybody,
i'm trying to create and manage a GPRS connection on XDA (Pocket PC
phone Edition) using embedded Visual C++ 3.0.
I have seen Connection Manager API (MFC) to manage a connection but
i'm not able to create my connection and to call
this from connection manager.
I don't understand clearly the meaning of GUID and how i can find it
for a specific connection.
If anybody could help me i appreciate it very much!

File version ppc2002
I cannot find the api for getting the file version in ppc. Is there a
RAPI call for GetFileVersion?. The work around I'm thinking of using
is to copy the file to the desktop then use vb's FSO.GetFileVersion
method. If I open a file as binary on the ppc isnt there a location to
the offset--then x bytes in contains the version info?

Self-Registering ATL COM
I have created an ATL Com object which I have packaged up into a .cab

The cab package deploys the dll to the appropriate directory \Windows

.inf file, however, it does not appear as if the dll is actually been
registered on the device.
Do I need to add further code to my dll in the

FreeLibrary
Hi,
I've written my own keyboard IM and it goes fine, but I
have a problem when I try to unistall it.
The DLL file is loaded by the system and remain in memory
until the device is "warn-booted".
So I need to reboot my device when I want to unistall my
keyboard.
Does anyone know how to unload (free) the DLL loaded by
another process?
I've tried FreeLibrary but obviously doesn't work as the
DLL is not loaded by my process, it is loaded
by "device.exe" process.

Writing IPAQ biometric authentication application
I am currently doing biometric authentication system

application on H5550 which I had bought.
I had try to test a BioAPI sample provided by HP

there anyone test this BioAPI sample before? The website
is at http://h71018.www7.hp.com/ids/biometric.asp. Please
teach me how to run this code. I had meet all its
requirement:
1) Windows XP
2) Embedded Visual tools 3.0
3) ActiveSync 3.7
4) A unit with BioSwipe(H5550)
5) pocket pc 2002 SDK.
The only difference is the version of the ActiveSync. Is
this the main cause?
Besides that, I actually prefer to use VB.Net 2003 to
build this biometric application. I heard HP had release
their biometric toolkit with .Net 2003 support. Any

eMbedded or .NET
Hello all,
I'm a veteran VB and C/C++ programmer, but new to PPC
and .NET programming. I wrote a database app in eVB on a
PPC 2002. The app works fine, but there are some
limitations creeping up with the PPC 2002. (See my
post "Barcode Scanner with Viewsonic V35") So I'm trying
to decide whether to upgrade to a PPC 2003. I want to
avoid rewriting my app in C++, so I was thinking about
converting it to VB.NET. How much trouble would that be?
Any advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

barcode scanner into the mix. However, there's no way to

Is there anything I can do, keeping the same eVB app and
staying with PPC 2002? I'm willing to get another PPC if
nessassary.
BTW what's the difference between CF Slot Type I and Type
II? The scanner I'd like to get is Type I and all the
PPC's I seen are Type II. Are they compatable? Or, are
there any PPC 2002 with SDIO or CF Type I?

Winbase.h contains all the version functions EXCEPT for VerLanguageName().
Winver.h contains the function prototype, but can not be included in the app

(afx.h includes wce.h which #defines the VER_H that winver sets at the top

asynchronous events to Internet Explorer.
It seems that only main thread can fire events: how to
tell from a worker thread to main thread to do this?
I found something about firing events from a worker
thread, passing him a marshaled interface, but the
function needed to do this
(CoMarshalInterThreadInterfaceInStream) seems to be not
supported in WINCE.
Can anyone help me?

similar problem to cant transfer program to emulator
I apologize in advance if I have not managed to find the
solution in the newsgroups elsewhere, I have searched. My
problem seems to be very much like the other posts about
getting the app on the emulator, but not quite.
I am experiencing the problem with the emulator not
loading the application when you click run. On 2 out of 3
machines I can get eVB working perfectly. The difference
on the 3rd machine is the connection to the internet, it
is networked, but requires a proxy to access the
internet. I can set the proxy on the emulator, and can
browse the internet on the emulator. Loopback is installed
on the non functioning machine.
From my experience installing eVB on the 2 working
machines (one Win 2k Pro, the other Win XP home), which
connect to the internet through a basic cable modem, I've
noticed that when I click run, Zone Alarm (my firewall)
tells me that applications want to access the internet. If
I let them pass the firewall, the emulator loads the
application and all is perfect.
I may be wrong, but it looks like eVB wants to talk to the
internet in the process of puting the application on the
emulator. It seems to want to check / update
various .dll's. How do I either circumvent this internet
request or tell eVB to use the proxy server?
Suggestions greatly appreciated.

convert CString to 2 character hex
Hello all,
I'm working on an application which communicates with an serial device. In
order to communicate in a way both devices (the PDA and the serial device)
understand each other, i need to convert the userinput to Hex with a
delimited size and reverse. In the same application for the PC build in
Borland C++ builder I use the folowing code:
//============================================
String __fastcall CalcCommCheckSum(String CalcString)
{
int CheckSum = 0;
for (int i = 1; i <= CalcString.Length(); i++)
{
int j = CalcString[i];
CheckSum ^= j;
}
return LongToHex(CheckSum,2);
}
//============================================
String __fastcall LongToHex(long Input, int Length)
{
String Result = IntToHex((int)Input, Length);
while (Result.Length() > Length)
{
Result.Delete(1,1);
}
return Result;
}
//============================================
Now I am trying to do the same in eVC. So if you for example put
@003FFF06450100 in the CalcCommCheckSum function, it must return 33. If I
have a function like IntToHex where you can specify the string to convert
and the number of characters to return I think I hava everything I need. I
have been searching google for the last 2 days now, but without result.
Therefore I hope someone over here can help me.
Kind regards,
