    - Can I Debug in Release mode? With my eVC4 IDE set to Debug mode, I can run the application. With my eVC4 IDE set to Release mode, I can build the application, but whenever I try to run it outside of the IDE, it simply stops after the OnInitDiag routine. With my eVC4 IDE set to Release mode, if I try to run the application, I get an access violation, but I don't know where it is coming from. I have placed MessageBox calls at various places, and it seems like the Release mode that is executed outside of the IDE dies right after the OnInitDiag, which is the last place I know of to set my MessageBox call.     - Issue regarding the huge input data size inside MP3 DMO frameowrk Hello, I have created a MP3 DMO framework for Wince 5.0 Inside InternalCheckInputType() I checked that WAVEFORMATEX structure of DMO_MEDIA_TYPE is not correct for BitsPerSample. it is coming as 0. If I explicitly gives some appropriate value for BitsPerSample like say 16 then inside InternalProcessInput() I am getting the input buffer size i.e of IMediaBuffer as huge, in my case its 8k. But the data is valid its not junk. I am having a mp3 decoder framework which decodes on frame by frame basis, so I am getting difficulties in passing such huge data at once. Can anyone pl. give me reason of getting incorrect WAVEFORMATEX structure and also the reason of huge input buffer. I checked my framework on Windows Mobile WM5.0 and other Crossbow as well this problem is not encountering over those OS. getting proper BitsPerSample for WAVEFORMATEX and getting the input size as 182 bytes, which means giving the input on frame basis.     - Desktop-Pass-Through internet connection / ActiveSync 4.5 / WM6 Hello all, I am experiencing the following problem with ActiveSync 4.5 / Windows Mobile 6.0: When the device (it's an HTC with WM6) is connected to the Desktop PC through USB, it cannot connect to the internet using Desktop-Pass-Through internet connection (= using the internet connection that is provided by the Desktop PC / Laptop computer). With ActiveSync 4.1 / Windows Mobile 5.0 this always worked without a problem. After trying one million things and searching the internet for a LONG, LONG time, I found a post from Edington Watt from the MS Windows Mobile Platform (Edington, are there ... ??). This post communicated to me that exactly this problem already appeared when ActiveSync was upgraded from ActiveSync 4.1 to ActiveSync 4.2. Together with his post, Edington Watt offered a registry key fix with the following content: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services] "AllowLSP"=dword:00000000 This seems to solve the problem for ActiveSync 4.2 but unfortunately NOT for ActiveSync 4.5 as I have found out ... THIS IS EDINGTON'S ORIGINAL POST: (from 07/07/2006 on PDAPhoneHome.com) To all those who have had problems with connecting to the internet from the device when upgrading from ActiveSync 4.1 to 4.2: ActiveSync version 4.2 made a change to how it interacts with the Windows networking stack to use Layered Service Providers (LSPs) on outgoing Desktop-Pass-Through connections. This allows for improved compatibility in environments where connections to the internet must be passed through these LSPs (ISA Proxy is one such example). Unfortunately, it appears this change has caused some issues for a small segment of users who have LSPs that interfere with ActiveSync communication. There is a registry key fix which will essentially remove this change. Please download and rename the attached text file with the .txt extension to the .reg extension. In other words, change the file LSPvalue.txt to LSPvalue.reg. Afterwards, please double click on the newly renamed .reg file and click on the "Yes" button. This should resolve your issues.     - Windows does not recognize USB device I have two mobile devices: one is a Trimble with GPS and another is a T-Mobile Wing. I'm writing a program for Trimble for data collection. When I plugged my T-Mobile Wing to sync it with my music files, Windows doesn't recognize the Trimble device anymore. I get this frustrating error, "Windows does not recognize USB device." I followed Active Sync advice to (1) disconnect, reconnect, the device--both on the same port and different ports; (2) uninstall/re-install Active Sync; (3) restart computer... nothing works.     - Internet Connection for Windows Mobile 6 Emulator Not Working Hello all, I have VS 2005 Team Suite along with the latest Windows Mobile 6 emulators on a Windows Vista Ultimate computer. I am trying to set up internet access on the device but have been unsuccessful, I've gotten 50% there. I have followed the instructions found at http://blogs.msdn.com/akhune/archive/2005/11/16/493329.aspx. I have connected the device to "Windows Mobile Device Center" via the "Craddle" option. When I do this, Internet Explorer starts working (half way). The problem is that when I type in any address, it attempts to load the website from my local IIS. If I go to "google.com", I will see the default page of the default website in my computer's IIS. If I type in a page name like "google.com/somepage", I will get a 404 error message from my IIS box. It is trying to resolve it at "mycomputer/somepage" instead of "google.com/somepage". Now, I think this might have something to do with Proxy settings although my network does not require a proxy. I have a broadband router that uses the IP 192.168.0.1, I've tried configuring the proxy to use this but no luck. Have you guys ever seen this issue? I am especially concerned that I am finding the Peghelp top-level window based only on the text in the window title. What if, for example, some other application just happens to use "Help" in its title? I just don't like it. One of the things I'd like to use are the orientation aware controls from the Mobile Software Factory.     - Pocket outlook message caching I am attemtping to edit a message being composed in pocket Oulook so as the user can see the edited text as it happens. What I am doing is using MAPI to open the PR_BODY_W property and retrieving the IStream interface. I am then writing to the beginning of this IStream using Seek followed by Write. Both of these succeed, but the message body doesn't appear to change. If I call IMessageFormEx::CloseForm( 0 ) and then reopen the message from drafts, I can see the new message body, so it is being written correctly. But I want to avoid the step of the user having to close the message and then re-open it. It has been suggested to me that this is a common problem when using MAPI on a desktop PC, and the solution there is to use OOM to edit the message. But so far as I can tell on Windows CE POOM is of no use for messages, it's only for tasks, contacts and reminders etc. Is there a way to get Pocket Outlook to reload the message? I did see there is a MailDisplayMessage function so I thought that I could call this after closing the message.     - NETCF & IImagingFactory Alpha Transparency Hey gang. I am trying to write a C# control which supports Alpha Transparency. I am using Expression Designer to design nice UI's and exporting as PNG images. The control is similiar to a PictureBox concept so that I can derive from it for various other controls. I am having some performance issues. I have reduced about half of them but I would like to know if I can reduce the painting performance even further. When I move the control around the form based on where the screen is "touched" the drawing isn't where I would like it to be. I am seeing trails which feels like a Double Buffering is missing however I think the way I have the code that it is double buffered? I am not too experienced in graphics painting so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have done a lot of the work inside of the OnResize() of the control and I check to see if the control has changed sizes because some calls I think are redundant to all every paint event. Here is what I have: http://www.pastebin.ca/633433 So it is generally working. The compositing meshes a background image with the PNG image I use. Currently I have a Form derived class that has a BackgroundImage property from which the control does: FormWithBackground form = this.TopLevelControl as FormWithBackground; form.BackgroundImage is then used for the background composition. So my 2 questions are: 1. Can you see anything in my code to speed up the drawing performance further? 2. Is there a way to get a background image of the form/controls behind the current control rather than using a forms background image. The reason being this only allows for 1 alpha layer. I cannot put controls on top of controls as it will composite with the forms image not the control directly underneath it. Other than that I am happy at the progress I am making. I already opened the kdmp-file as project in Visual Studio, but it only shows memory dumps because it can't map to the code while the coredll.pdb is missing. Is there any opportunity to get the reason for that failure? Or is it possible to put the coredll-function-calls into a try-catch-block so that the failure would be catched? I am generating cab file using cabwiz utility. If I add "cesetupdll" key to
.inf file and generate .cab file. it wont run on pocket pc 2003 Emulator. it
shows error like "previous setup was not installed successfully. please run
setup again.". If I dont include "cesetup.dll" to inf file, then cab is
getting installed propery but then it is not calling exported install_exit
function of setup.dll

Please help me where am I going wrong?
