    - how to make a static control with a scrollbar my project is Dialog-based, i need a static control to draw some filled-rectangles with text in it . while it is dynamic , so maybe i need a scrollbar . I make my CMyStatic class derived from CStatic , in it's PreCreateWindow : cs.style |= WS_VSCROLL; so it can show it's V scrollbar, but this scroll bar just does not work ~ how could i do ?     - Pocket PC Device Emulator - HostKey option and value I am trying to run the commandline as the following to launch an emulator instance from the saved state and send a key stroke to the emulator: "C:\Program Files\Windows CE 5.0 Emulator\Emulator_500.exe" /VMID {641834F7-7BD7-4A7B-B2CE-D11A2C48E93E} /hostkey E06B According to the Host Key Options: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wcedebug5/html/wce50conemulatorhostkeyoptions.asp for left arrow, I should use E06B as the value for /hostkey (please see the last option in the command above). But every time it just gives me invalid hostkey setting message. Tried different values, and got the same thing. Google'd the message, but got nothing. BTW, the image is Pocket PC 2003.     - CCeDBDatabase and VS2005 I have an eVC++ project that I'm trying to migrate to VS2005. This is an MFC project and it uses CCeDBDatabase. VS2005 seems to have no awareness of the CCeDBDatabase class. I hear that CEDB will not be supported in the next version of Windows Mobile, but what do I need to be doing with this project that uses CCeDBDatabase? Do I need to rewrite everything to use only the API calls? Is there/will there be a CCeDBDatabase class for EDB? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. Mike B.     - debug/networking while in the cradle Hi, I am developing network real time application. While my device is in the cradle my program binds to IP assigned by a host for ActiveSync connection. So all communication is going through host machine and my app is not working, I don't know yet why, network might be too slow or my app can't recognize "firewall" propery. Previously I was able to take the device out of cradle and debugger would still work becuase activesync 3.8 supported ethernet connection. However 4.0 & 4.1 don't support ethernet connection so I can't do that anymore. Is there a way to debug apps and not have IP addreess for host connection. Bluetooth & IR are too slow.     - Confused by data for OID_802_11_ENCRYPTION_STATUS I use the code below (end of post) for querying encryption status on a pocket pc device running mobile 2003. I have the wireless device configured to connect to a given access point using WPA and TKIP and I use a certificate for my EAP type. The device connects fine to the secure AP, but the value I get from OID_802_11_ENCRYPTION_STATUS is 5, which is Ndis802_11Encryption2KeyAbsent. From the docs... Indicates that there are no transmit keys available for use by TKIP or WEP, and TKIP and WEP are enabled; AES is not enabled. I use basically the same setup in an app on a winxp machine connecting to the same AP and I query the value of the encryption status using WMI and get a value of 4, which is Ndis802_11Encryption2Enabled. From the docs... Indicates that TKIP and WEP are enabled; AES is not enabled, and a transmit key is available. On my mobile device, under the network key tab for configuring the authentication, the checkbox for 'The key is provided for me automatically' is set by default and I can't change it when I haev WPA and TKIP set. So my question is, why am I getting a result of Ndis802_11Encryption2KeyAbsent on my mobile? I'm expecting the same value that I get on my XP machine. How do I make it so this key is not absent?     - UNICODE in Windows CE Hi all I am trying to send a stream of data from Windows CE to a Java program on my desktop over bluetooth. However, there seems to have some inconsistency with regard to character encoding. (i.e. some squares are shown together with some correct characters). I suspect that re-encoding is required using String(readBuffer, souceEncoding); How can the souceEncoding be found? There are many types of unicode that exist.     - Changing default installation directory Folks, I understand that by creating an installation project, I can specify the exact location for all the solution's files. This is fine for the final deployment. However, during devleopment, I want to be able to do the same thing, and still be able to use the debugger. By default, if I simply Start Debugging (F5), the solution is deployed to the device's Program Files directory. In my case, I cannot do this (I am trying to debug serious memory limitation issues and need to move everything to an SD Card). Question: how do I specifiy the default deployment directory for a project without using an installation project?     - Need the WM5 phone application I have a Dell AXIM x50v and need the Microsoft Dialer for Windows Mobile 2005. I have a CF Phone card (Audiovox RTM-8000) and need a phone application. The one I seek is part of the OS. Especially if your device is a smartphone, etc. I want PHOTO integration with my Contacts, and I'm lead to believe it will all just work! My callerID will present a known contact's picture... My Contacts will have photos, etc. I want the phone app to use these, and Microsoft's is 'sposed to. Where do I get it? Is it part of the SDK?     - Possible to get DLL loaded into Pocket Outlook? Hi, I have developed a custom form for Pocket Outlook that allows users to create a new email message of my own type. This works fine. My problem is that I need to change the message class of certain incoming emails so that they can be read with my custom form, if that makes sense (unfortunately I can't guarantee that mails coming from different systems will set the message class). My current solution is to have a seperate process use the State & Notification broker to check for new emails, and if one is received process the Inbox and change the message class of messages matching my criteria. It would be more ideal to lump the two things together into the same DLL as my custom form. So, is there any way to get Pocket Outlook to load a custom DLL at startup?     - Compiling C# PC-based Library to Windows Mobile Library I have no way of specifying a Windows Mobile 5.0 target in my desktop library project. Is there a way to do this? Or am I going to have to manually create a new Windows Mobile library project and copy over the source files for every single project?     - VB .net/Pocket PC I created a software in VB.Net with databases pocket access and sqlce. The unit is a Dell X50. My problem is that often while I am using the software, the program gets closed unexpected. No error, no exception. In system/memory it shows me that I still have 7-8M free.     - intermittent drop-outs and hangs using WavIn audio... The application I've written (C#) uses the WaveIn Audio facility to make brief periodic audio recordings. The application works well, except that 2-4% of the recordings are missing some or all of the audio data, and 0.1-0.5% of the time the application hangs without error or locking up the system. I've Googled on the terms "wavein intermittent" and "MM_WIM_DATA intermittent" and have found only one relevant post (below) that is consistent with the problem I am encountering, but now potential solution or work-around was given. http://opennetcf.org/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4217 My application is being used exclusively on ~20 Dell Axim X50 and X51, running both Windows Mobile 2003 and 5.0.     - VB.NET dataset being dumped I have a app that is writing a dataset out to xml on the device. Well i have run into a couple of very strange issues that i cant seem to track down. First issue was duplicate records, one day i was inputing data, and went to review it at the end of the day, and had 3 dupes in the dataset. Havent run into that one again though, but i am thinking it may be related to the second. That one is as follows, every once in a while not even really sure of a time frame yet as i just noticed it was doing this, the data in the XML (and i assume the data in the dataset) is being removed. Not sure why, and i have not really been able to reproduce this problem. I manged to get it to do it one time, but i did several things at once to try and make it fail. But havet been able to make it happen again. Could this be caused by the device going in and out of standby? or maybe on and off the cradle? Has anyone else experienced any of these issues?     - MIcrosoft Platform Builder Hi All, Has anyone tried using Platform Builder Kernel debugger (kdstub)? I have tried for quite some time but is still unable to connect Platform Builder to my device for debugging. Platform Builder is always in 'The Kernel Debugger is waiting to connect with target' status. My device is connected via USB cable to the COM port and I have already loaded the image to the device with other tools. My device has no Ethernet port. I understand that in order to use kdstub, I need to include Kernel Debugger capability in the image. I am doing a release build but have undefined IMGNODEBUGGER (i.e enable kernel debugger) and IMGNOKITL (i.e enable KITL). However, I cannot find kdstub.dll in the release directory. What I have are kd.dll, osaxst0.dll and osaxst1.dll. Is this the reason why Platfrom Builder cannot connect to my device? If yes, how do I include kdstub.dll in the image? Also, may I know if it is a must to specify a transport in 'Target->Connectivity Option' before Platform Builder can connect to the device? What if transport is set to 'NONE', can it still connect?     - Transcriber - Disabling Gestures I'm writing a math flashcard application that uses the Transcriber. This works well except forwhen my son goes to enter the number 4. What happens in about 1 out of 4 times is instead of recognizing a 4 it does the space gesture |___ . It should run Windows CE 5.0, GetVersionEx returns OS version 5.0, build 1400, but it looks more like a Windows CE 2. My app, which is written for PPC 2003 and above, doesn't run. Since the user interface is in korean, I can't read the error message. Some web sites state that there is a Pocket PC emulator on the device, but I haven't found it yet.     - Fiveway navigation in pocket pc Tribe, In my Palm dev days we called it the FiveWay or 5-way. It's the rocker nav pad with center button. We used it to navigate focus around data entry screens. Well this functionality does not work as expected on a pocket pc device. And now that I must support the Treo700 where the 5-way is extremely important in usage I'm a bit flumoxed with how to make this 5-way nav pad work as it did in the Treo650.     - PPC 2003 Crypto engine 40-bit suppport I need to make the new PPC 2003 use 40-bit encryption for a MD5-RC4 hash password. I developed the code under PC 2000-2002 which used 40-bit encryption and now in 2003 it fails due to the newer 128-bit upgrade. So to provided packward compatability I would like to use 40-bit when running on the PPC 20003 plataform; how is this done? Under the PC Windows platform it can be achined by adding the "0x00280000" falg to the CryptoDeriveKey(...) method call.     - Security Question Hello All, First off, I have to say that all of the files that I am using in this post are not signed. I just have a question that I am hoping someone out here can answer. I have an application that consists of a .exe file and a dll that the .exe uses. I did not notice this until I started testing on the 700w Treo, but when I deploy or install my application, the first time I run the application, I get a Windows message saying that an error occurred in my application and if I wanted to fill out a bug report. The wierd thing is that when I run the application again, I do not get any error. I then created a sample application that just uses the dll. I tested using this and it would do the exact same thing. I would be prompted for security for the sample application, but nothing else. I then tried to debug this application and I noticed that this time, I get prompted for security for both the application and the DLL and it worked. My question is, why would this fail the first time and work perfectly fine every time after that? Also, is there any way that I can prompt the user to allow the system to use the dll? Also, I do not think that signing all of these applications is an option with my company, so I hope that there is another way. Thank you all for your time.     - Disabling scroll bars in ListView on Mobile 5.0 I'm using a custom ListView with the LVS_REPORT style, and I'm handling scrolling with my own scroll bars. LVS_NOSCROLL used to work with 2003 and 2003SE, but now I get two sets of scroll bars on my user interface, which really stuffs the program completely.     - Error when openning a DB using CeOpenDatabaseInSession with a sort order Hi all, I'm trying to open a database on WM5 devices using the CeOpenDatabaseInSession function, but when ever I try opening a sorted database by passing the SORTORDERSPECEX struct the CeOpenDatabaseInSession() fails with INVALID_PARAMETER returned by GetLastError(). Changing back the sort structure to NULL of course cause it to work once again without any problem. The initializing of the sort order looks like this: SORTORDERSPECEX SortOrderSpec = {0}; SortOrderSpec.wVersion = SORTORDERSPECEX_VERSION; // 2 with EDB defined SortOrderSpec.wNumProps = 1; SortOrderSpec.wKeyFlags = 0; SortOrderSpec.rgPropID[0] = MAKELONG( CEVT_UI4, 1 ); SortOrderSpec.wKeyFlags = 0; Is there anyone that knows how to resolve this issue?     - ActiveSync problem Hi. I had been using AS3.7.1 for development. Recently, I downloaded and installed AS4.1, which I should probably not have done as I am developing for Pocket PC 2003 (no CE5.0 devices). I have been using Visual Studio 2003. Now I have also VS2005 and would like to start using it. I uninstalled AS4.1 and reinstalled VS3.7.1 but cannot open it. I tried also AS3.8 with the same result.     - DataGridView for PPC WM5.0? I am using VS 2005 pro (trial version). Installed WM 5 SDK and now have access to emulators. I don't see a DataGridView component in my toolbox for WM 5.0 application development. All I have is datagrid. Is this component available? (which would be nice).     - CF v2 HTTPWebrequest post file Hello, I have working code for uploading a file to a server using SSL for CF v1. If I export this to Visual Studio 2005 it still works great. However, if I start a new CF v2 project in Visual Studio 2005, and use the same code as before, it won't work anymore except when uploading small files.     - API to figure if a device has Hardware keyboard or not Hi, Is there an API which would tell if a PocketPC has a hardware keyboard or not ? Currently in my application i flip up the soft keyboard if the focus is on an edit control. But devices like Treo 700w have an onboard keyboard.     - CF 1.0 vs 2.0 or VS2003 vs VS2005 Form Display order - vent I noticed several other people noticed a difference in their application when upgrading to the latest versions. To re-create create a simple form and in the Load of the form perform a ShowDialog of a non full screen form such as an authorization screen(login form). On v1.1 SP3 with VS2003 you will see the main form and the authorization form on top. When compiled with VS2005 and running on CF2.0 you will NOT see the main form being displayed behind the authorization screen. To fix this anomoly I simple added a this.Show() as the first line in the _Load before the ShowDialog(). My guess would be it has something to do with the new this.SuspendLayout() and this.ResumeLayout(). Oh and by the way, for existing applications the .DPI should have been the default conversion for AutoScale, not Inherit for anybody that is listening. But even with that there are to many scaling issues when using a hp4700 480x640.     - .NET Voice Command SDK for Pocket PC I would like to know if there is an SDK available for Voice Command so that I can enable my Pocket PC application to respond to voice commands. I did read an article on CodeGuru about VB6 was able to use it and wonder what I need in order to add it to my application for .NET 2003 and .NET 2005. Hello, My application was written using embedded Visual Basic 3.0 for PocketPC 2002. After PPC2003 came out I was able to easily use my app with a few changes under PPC2003. Now I have a device with Windows Mobile 2005 and my eVB3.0 app does not work anymore. What would be my best bet for running eVB 3.0 under Windows Mobile 2005. I have Visual Studio.NET 2003 installed in my Development PC. Do I have to rewrite the whole eVB3.0 app under VS.NET 2003 using Windows Moible 2005 SDK. I need to do some work in Inbox.
In one pocket pc, enter in "outlook" account, and in the list view
interface.
when i select a mail and double click it, how can it shows my custom
view , not the default read view.

Are there any APIs or DLLs which can do this work?

windows mobie 5 pocketpc sdk, vs 2005.
