    - Receiving non-unicode sms messages from managed code Hi Everyone. I'm having some trouble trying to get non-unicode data transferred from an imapi rule plugin to my managed app, and I could really use some help here. I pretty much learned how to catch incoming emails from this article (thanks to a reference coming from this list!!): http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnnetcomp/html/ReceivingSMSMessages.asp However, it doesn't seem to go any furthur on how to catch any sms's with different kinds of data. Is it just a matter of copying the right data from the sms message's SPropValue?? I can catch and send normal unicode data to my app. just fine, but if I try to give my app. the sms data which isn't unicode, The only data I get from the mapirule dll is a unicode string that reads something like, "This message cannot be read".     - Form close I have been trying to intercept the event generated by the clicking of the System Close button (X), which is displayed on the application's form top right corner. I'm monitoring the Form.Closing(â?¦) event to detect the closing of the form, but for some reason it doesn't appear to work. My application runs on the Pocket PC 2003, and I'm using Framework 1.1.     - Timer problem in Pocket PC 2003 Hi, I am developing an application in which i am using timeSetEvent() and timeKillEvent() to set and kill timer function. Problem is that when I try to debug the application both the emulator and the device hangs. If I dont use timers then I can debug my application (a dialog based MFC application).     - Dynamic menus in eVC without resources Several folks, including me, have discussed attempts to add menus to a dialog box in Pocket PC without using resources. In my case, I want to support dialog boxes created completely in a statically linked library. Well, I finally stumbled on a decent workaround: a toolbar. Seems somewhat obvious in hind sight. I read the November 24 post in the pocketpc.developer.network forum that said that it should be possible to connect to SQL Server through a SmartDeviceApplication. I have a working Windows App that talks great with SQL, so I copied over the exact same connection info, but the SmartDeviceApp just times out as it is trying to connect, even with a huge timeout string. It's not an issue with the handheld, because I'm just trying to run it using the PC2003 emulator. The code is so simple - below is a snippet from the load event of the form. It does display the "trying" msgbox OK, then after 500 seconds dies. HUGE gratitude in advance for any hints.     - MarshalAs equivalent using C# in Compact Framework I need to call a DLL function in Pocket PC using C# for Compact Framework. The function takes a "char *" variable. Assume the function is declared something as following and "param" is an in and out parameter: extern "C" __declspec( dllexport ) char *Test(char *param) In full .NET framework I can use the the following C# declaration and use the function with no problem. I have built the Openssl libraries and DLL's successfully and linked with the application. While running the application, i find that the PEM_read_DHparams is always returning NULL while reading the dhparam file in pem format. I then would like to take my PDA out in the field, work on the data, and come back. When back, I want to upload the Data back into MSDE, delete it from the PDA, and download new, fresh data.     - Recommendations for installer program? Hi, I wonder if some of you would be good enough to give some recommendations for a way of having a 'nice' installer. Users of my Pocket PC software are forever complaining that the installation routine is too complex, so I'd like to address it on the basis that a bad first impression is not good for business... Basically, it needs to do the following for the first installation: 1. Install the basic program components to the PPC (supporting the three different processor types), and register the controls etc. It's written in eVB, and a future version will be written in eVC. 2. Connect to a service on our web site, pass some information from the PPC to the site, then accept another file back (generated on the fly at the site) and install it on the PPC. That's about it for the initial installation. As the data file changes I guess I can write some kind of ActiveSync add-on to periodically check the web site for changes and download them if required. However the installer is the main thing I have problems with. I looked at Wise Installer very briefly. A search on their site for 'pocket pc' seems to indicate that it's nothing more than a fancy way of creating the CAB file. I want to customise more than that - not least because the service on the web site is one that we will write from scratch, not a standard server. I have a small VB program, thanks to the guys at devbuzz, which is capable of copying the file from the users PC, via ActiveSync, onto the Pocket PC. Would the best way be a more comprehensive version of that program which also copies the various CAB files and runs them? I couldn't see anything obvious in the MSDN RAPI documentation that dealt with this part of the installation cycle, though I can see how to get the file over to the PDA of course as I already do this. I'm using Jeode JVM and it seems that every client I develop stops to make connections after 73 connections. When you unzip it, the correct setup.exe is in the SAME DIRECTORY in
which you unzipped it, not one level down as is the normal thing. If
you did what I did, you went into a subdirectory and used the setup.exe
there. It took me a few tries to realize what had happened. Also, as I
mentioned in your other thread, make sure you're administrator.
