    - WM5, wceload with /nouninstall Folks, On a Dell Axim 51V I have noticed that the wceload /nouninstall switch appears to have no effect. That is, there is a line in Remove Programs for the application that was installed. With WM 2003 this did not occur. Are additional steps required on WM5 devices?     - RPN Registration fiasco Over the last few weeks, I've switched my products to use the RPN registration algorithm found on Handango, PocketGear, PocketLand, Mobihand and others. Now, on the day of release, I've discovered that the RPN implementation IS DIFFERENT amongst the various distributors. ARGH!!! The crux of the difference is that Handango is using 32 bit integers for intermediate RPN calculations while Pocketland and Mobihand are using 16 bit integers for intermediate RPN calculations. I don't know what PocketGear is doing yet. For the simple demo RPN string of: User Name = "Will P" RPN string = "i 0 == 111 * key + c 2 * +" the 16 and 32 bit versions produce the same results, but more complex RPN strings and longer User Names can easily overflow and produce different results. Has anyone either: 1. Screamed in anguish at the distributors, trying to make them converge on a single implementation? If so, what did they say? 2. Either way, when the OnSize message is processsed and I've either changed the orientation of the screen or minimized (I replaced the ok button with the smart minimize x) and maximized again, the gui defaults to the default layout of the dialog template and not the state of the window controls before the screen changed.     - EDB Databases Hello all. I recently converted my CEDB databases to EDB. I just got my application up and running and I noticed that these new database function seem to be take a lot longer to work then the CEDB functions. I used to use ADOCE which seemed really fast, then I changed to CEDB, which seemed slightly slower, and now I am crawling along with EDB. Is there any chart out there and I can see the time differences when calling different functions?     - Camera preview orientation on HTC-Universal Hi, after I actually got the capture and filter to work, I am having a strange problem. The input from the camera gets displayed "flipped over the diagonal", meaning it is rotated by 90 degrees and then flipped horizontally. And this changes depending on screen rotation. While I can rotate the image manually by writing a filter (I already did), it is certainly the wrong way and will cut off 1/4 of the image (if I do it per in-place-filter). How can I tell the output renderer to NOT rotate / flip the content? The original video recording app can do it correctly, so there must be some flags on that camera or output renderer to set.     - LSP issues on WM5.0... I have few questions related to LSP on WM50: 1. SSL LSP and Auto_bind lsp have no ORDER key in the registry, it means any one of them can load on the top. But I always see that Auto_bind getting loaded at the top of SSL LSP. It may be some magic done by MSFT internally. But I am wondering why there is no ORDER key has been defined for these keys. Is there any reason? 2. I want to load my LSP on the top. So I have defined ORDER key for Autobind and SSL in the registery, so that myLSP loads on the top. But in this case I have noticed that Auto_Bind does not getting loaded into Device.exe. If I do not define Order key for Autobind and let it load in the last then it will get load into Device.exe. Any idea, why it so? 3. Services.exe loads all the LSPs (which is not the case on PPC2003), hence, myLSP is also loaded into Services.exe. From the log generated from myLSP, I found out that next provider's WSPSocket() called is failed with Error code 10009. Any idea about this failure? I do not see any such failure in other executables like device.exe, rapiclnt.exe, repllog.exe, iexplore.exe etc. Overall, Autobind and DTPT lsps introduced in WM50 casuing lots of trouble to LSP developers. I am looking at porting to WM5 in VS2005, but can not find any reference on how to use ADO (not ADO.NET) in VS2005. Basically, I was hoping that all I had to do was to change the connection string (Provider=Microsoft.SQLServer.OLEDB.CE.2.0;Data Source=somedb.sdf), but is that hoping too much? Could it be as simple as using OLEDB.CE.3.0? Maybe I must "upgrade" the ADO DLL? Does anyone have any experience and tips regarding this?     - Services.exe I am writing a small program that will run as a background process for the entire time the pocket pc is on. It will be listening on a certain port for incoming connections on the wifi interface. My question is: for something like this is services.exe still the best way to do it?     - Best Approach to Identifying Programmically Created Controls? In my WinForms programming I built some extensive code that would instantiate a series of controls on a panel. So for example, I could use this code to lay out 4 vertically stacked radio buttons. Each of these controls shared a common event handler. I was able to easily identify which control fired the event by just checking the Name property. But to my surprise, I've discovered that in the Compact Framework, most/all controls don't allow me to look up the Name property value. Hey, There's the obvious Card Exporter 2 which seems to work flawlessly on many devices, allowing them to show up as external logical drives on any computer over USB.     - Startup Registry entry only executes one command I am working on a MC9062 device with PPC 2003 and I have a registry file writing two entries to the startup entry to launch the two setup files for CF2 and SR CAB on cold boot. This seems to be working, but only one of the CAB files gets installed. Somehow the Welcome Screen disables the second install because it launches in the middle of the first installation. Is there a way to pause/disable the welcome screen. I tried to welcome.not, but it doesn't seem to work on this device. Any suggestions?     - Sporadic Bluetooth COM Port Problems I am trying to solve a sporadic problem with Blueotooth Printing to printers via the BT serial port profile on PocketPC 2003. My application opens the BT Com Port (CreateFile API) and prints data to the port. This works 99% of the time, but I have seen it occasionally fail, even when the BT Printer is "on" and "in-range" (PocketPC and Printer are less than 2 feet apart). Users are complaining of more frequent failures. When failure occurs, GetLastError returns 55 (The specified network resource or device is no longer available.) This is a native C++ app (evc4) 1) Should I expect the connection to succeed 100% of the time under the conditions described? (I would think yes) 2) Are there any APIs that would let me determine whether the remote BT device (printer) is "in-range" prior to attempting to print? I have replace the original codec CLSID registry setting in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\OEM\ with the CLSID of my encoder and mux filter, but the camera application(pimg.exe) doesn't work. It report error after I run pimg.exe and select "menu->video". Need my dmo support special interface? It only support IMediaObject now. I don't know how to set the values of [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\OEM\VideoProfile\1\VideoEncoderProperty] ,such as VideoPropertyName and VidoepropertyValue.     - HTTP Post Problem in Pocket PC I have problem with HTTP post in Compact Framework. The code below is function I use to post a HTTP message written in C#. I use this code in Windows XP and it works all the time. When I compile the same code to run on an iPaq PocketPC 2003 (connected through USB ActiveSync connection) it works exactly 2 times and then fails at "req.GetResponseStream()" with the exception message; "System.Net.WebException; Could not find resource assembly" The ActiveSync connection is not disconnected and I can transfer files back and forth afterward, or access the net through Pocket IE but it seems this code is the only one not working after 2 times. I can't figure out why this code works on Windows XP and fails after exactly two times in Compact Framework, I don't have a network card to see if this is an ActiveSync problem or a general problem related to the Compact Framework networking. Put the font on the device (only if it's licensed of course) and call
AddFontResource.
