    - About CeCopyFile(RAPI) hi all, I have written a short test program use CeCopyFile() function to copy files from PPC to PC. But there are allways errors returned. For file the error number is 3 or 32 while for folder the error number is 5. I use CeFindFirstFile() and CeFindNextFile() to get the remote file path, so it exists absolutely. I don't know the the reason for it. I have searched for the threads related. It is said that CeCopyFile() is not reliable and we should write CeCreateFile(), CeReadFile(), CreateFile() and WriteFile() ourselves so as to achieve the functionality of CeCopyFile(). Really?     - wceload breaks on Axim51 We ran into a problem when we shifted our device to Dell Axim x51 [spec: OS Name: Microsoft Windows CE; OS Version: 5.1 Build 70; Processor: StrongARM] from the iPAQ PocketPC 2003 [spec: OS Name: Microsoft Windows CE; OS Version: 4.20 Build 1081; Processor StrongARM]. The problem is with wceload. Nothing has changed in the code when we shifted from PPC2003 to PPC51. The parameters to wceload remains * /noaskdest /noui "my.cab"* After searching through the net, I realized that the behaviour of wceload has changed from PPC2003 to PPC51. From this link - http://blog.opennetcf.org/afeinman/default,date,2005-04-20.aspx the OP talks about the switch /noaskdest and its peculiar behaviour. Keeping in tune with this fact, the parameters to wceload now became * /noui "my.cab"*. Now WaitForSingleObject does not return anything. The applications justs exits at this point. Though after some amount of time, the cab gets extracted. From yet another link - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297962 I used the boilerplate code provided there. Even for this approach, the setup application exits just before *if (WAIT_OBJECT_0 == WaitForSingleObject(hEvent, INFINITE))*. I am out of options now. I want to know whether the analysis of wceload (on Axim 51) not able to perform well with WaitForSingleObject is right ? Am I doing something wrong ? Can anyone tell me 1. What has changed in wceload 2. How to overcome the above problem. Any other approach is welcome as well. BTW, I have to say these cab files are not signed. Does that make any difference ?     - VS2005, C#, .Net: start new project, no debugging info?!? Hi, I've just finished my first experiments with VS2005, C#, .Net. Now I want to start a new project from scratch, but debugging does not seem to work as advertised. I'm targeting a Dell Axim x51v Pocket PC connected to my developer machine through USB, ActiveSync 4.1. The symbol for my breakpoint turns from a big, filled, red dot into an outlined dot with an exclamation mark - somewhere during the rebuild, deploy, start-up cycle. Help in the tooltip seems to suggest I do not have debugging symbols or information, but I am sure I have set my Configuration to 'Debug'. Any suggestions?     - Connection Manager help Hi all, I am using having trouble understanding the intrictcies of the Connection Manager API. I have written code to establish a connection to a server through ConnMgr and then use sockets to send and receive data from that server. I have seen different behavior in three different circumstances and am wondering how to make sense of the behavior so that my code will work as intended. The three situations are below. 1. When I cradle my device and use the debugger to run my application, ConnMgr successfully connects to the server and my sockets are able to send and receive data to/from the server. 2. When my device is not cradled, ConnMgr fails to connect and when my socket code calls getHostByName(servername), the DNS lookup fails. 3. My device is not cradled. I open Pocket IE, which displays a bubble saying "Connecting to: Broadband Access Using: Cellular Line". After Pocket IE established broadband access, my application is able to connect to ConnMgr and the socket communication to/from the server works. Why does the conneciton not work when not cradled? How can I programmatically access the data channel that Pocket IE opens? What can I do to get connection when not cradled much appreciated, Mike P.S.     - Datatype misalignment exception in CDialog I am working on a project in EVC++ 4.0 SP4. Also "Update 5636" is installed that is related to my problem (http://tinyurl.com/faj6l). "First chance exception in xxxxx.exe: 0x80000002: Datatype Misalignment" occurs when "OK" is clicked in dialog that is inherited from CDialog. If I press F5 to continue execution assertion fails in "wincore.cpp, line 1143": ASSERT(pMap->LookupPermanent(hWndOrig) == NULL); Release version just exits without any warning. This error appeared suddenly, when I was changing bitmaps for toolbar to make it compatible with VGA resolution, and adding code to dynamically load toolbar depending on screen resolution. What is interesting, when I changed affected dialog class to old code without changes that used to work perfectly, same error still happens!     - Smart Minimize and Form Style I'm using the .Net CF 2.0. When you create a form based app and you define the form style as NONE (to enable a scrollable form) and you press the Smart Minimize button, the smart minimize button goes away, but the form stays visible (i.e., the today screen is not shown). If you change the form style to FIXED SINGLE, the the Smart Minimize button works as expected.     - set clock to millisecond Hi, I want to set the system clock of my PDA (WM2003) to milliseconds. I use now setsystemtime but it seems that it doesn't set the millisecond field, (year/month/day/hour/min/sec is ok.) because if I call getsystemtime directly after this method it returns always 0 for milliseconds. Anybody can help?     - Regarding Registry in WM5 Hello, I have a difficulty with updating the registry keys (HKLM\Drivers subkeys) in my recently bought iPaq2795 with Windows Mobile 5 OS. The behavior found only after i performed a hard-reset(reset to factory settings). Prior to this, i could modify the registry keys under Drivers\Builtin without any problems. But now, when i try to modify registry values, old values are restored after a soft-reset.     - Timer problem Hi I have a problem using the Timer from the System.Windows.Forms namespace. I have the following (simplyfied): 1. A main form containing various controls (buttons, textboxes etc). In the constructor of this form I instantiate a class (Kernel), which takes care of the applications logic. 2. This Kernel class instantiates two classes: one Tapi class and one Wireless class all running on the same thread. The Kernel class consumes events raised by the Tapi class (Tapi messages). 3. In the Wireless class sits a Timer (from the System.Windows.Forms namespace) ticking every 1 second. The timer event handling is taken care of in this wireless class. 4. In the Wireless class I have implemeted a Connect method, which among other things sets the timer's Enable proporty to false. Just before leaving this method the Enable proporty is set back to true on the timer. public void Connect() { timer.Enable = false; do some other tasks timer.Enable = true; } When the application is started every works perfect, that is, I got the timer event every 1 second. If I e.g enables the phone on the device the Tapi class raises an event telling that the phone is registered onto a GSM network. This event is received in the Kernel class, which then calls the Connect method in the wireless class. Now the problem kicks in. The timer stops running, since timer event handler suddenly stops receiveing the timer events, despite I in the debugger can verify that the timer.Enable = true. However if I comment out the timer.Enable = false line, the timer keeps on running. If I implement the same functionallity with a button on the UI (the button click event calls the Connect method), the things works as expected. What is the problem (the Connect method can stop the timer but cannot restart it !!, if the event comes from the Tapi class rather than from the main UI). ????     - mapirule does not work on HP 6510 helo i've converted sample MAPIRULE that comes with WM5.0 PPC SDK to run on PPC2003 and compiled it with Visual Studio 2005 (i was not able to use mapirule from PPC2003 SDK because it requires emb.VC++ which i don't have). after some changes that sample became compilable, and i've successfuly tested it on emulator. however it does not work on device.     - Emulator hangs when opening Com1 MS Mobile 5. I have an app that hasn't been changed in a while (I know, you've heard that befroe) that all of a sudden starts hanging on the Com1.Open() statement. Usage goes up to 100%.     - Freeze Troubleshoot I've got a little app that will freeze. Sometimes it freezes when I try to change an image on the form, sometimes before the image changes on the form, sometimes whenever I click an item on a combo box, and sometimes whenever I try to display the list of items in a combo box. Further, sometimes, 4 or 5 pictures can be displayed before the app freezes, and sometimes it will freeze on the first picture. Basically, I don't know what is causing it to freeze or where to look in my code. I could post code, but I don't know what code I would post! Is there any way for me to troubleshoot this, or do I just have to wait until I am a seasoned developer who knows all the ins and outs of the PPC? hi,

i just posted about an issue with errno and WinCE. i've seen so far in my
porting efforts that these some of the main issues. can anyone point me to a
place that covers these topics? how in general these are handled? it would
be nice to have a source to look at the standard way of dealing with these.
for instance, right now i'm porting some internal libs to Mobile 5.0, and
many functions call strerror(), which doesn't exist in Mobile 5.0, so i need
to code around this, but am having problems as i described in my last post.
