    - A problem in my program hi, how can I arrange my UI. which controls I shoud use? My requirement is that in a main form, there is a panel at the North position.     - UnsupportedPlatforms Hi, I have 2 cab files. One for PPC and one for SP. I am trying to prevent the cab for PPC from installing into the SP and vice versa. People have mentioned about "UnsupportedPlatforms" in the .inf file. PPC .inf --UnsupportedPlatforms = "HPC","Jupiter","SmartPhone" SP .inf --UnsupportedPlatforms = "HPC","Jupiter","Pocket PC" I added this into my .inf files. As a result, SP prevented the cab file for the PPC to be installed on the device. On the other hand, the PPC did not prevent the cab file for the SP to be installed.     - How do you detect removal/unplugging of a CF/SD card? I know CeRunAppAtEvent can run an exe at this event. However, I want to detect this evenet in my application that is currently runnining. All I want to do is to pop-up a warning message telling the user to plug the card back in order or run the application. I see on my Pocket PC that File Explorer detects the removal and remove the "Storage Card" from the folder list when the card is unplugged, so the mechanism is there! Any ideas? I've created a new project with an picture control, and assign it a bitmap.     - Wceload return value Hello! I'm developing an application that will install cab files by starting a new process with wceload as the command and the cabfile as the argument. The problem I'm having is that no matter if the cab file exists wceload always return ok. The CreateProcess will return 1 (OK) and GetExitCodeProcess will return 0 when the wceload returns.     - SQL CE Dataadapter unspecified error Hello, I posted this earlier, but I had no replies, so I try again, because I need help with this. I am working with .net 1.1, pocket pc 2002, mssql 2000, sql ce 2.0. I use rda to pull tables, create dataadapters for each table, modifiy the dataset, call the update method, and push back. Only the update method returns an 80004005 unspecified error. Code snippits are to be seen on http://y3p.pastebin.com I tried a lot of things like manual commands, command builder, a sqlceconnection for each adapter, using numbers instead of columnnames, the unique identifier colomns of the table are guids in the dataset, I tried to create them als string, as string with {}, and as new guid, they are all posible, but rows.add(row) does not eat all of them...     - Problem with using vb UI to call atl Hi, I'm using vs2005 for developing a pocket pc application. There are some interesting thing happen after the app has called the atl control. After receiving the event from the atl, it seems that the vb UI has lost the instance of the UI. I could not visible a button or text in the form. Since I got a simple atl that only receive the event and passing the event back to the VB and show up a text box to indicate the control is success.     - javascript "new Date()" issue on PocketPC, DST timezone Hello All: We have a web application being developed for Pocket PC with ASP.NET mobile controls. The application is hosted on a webserver and is accessed through the Pocket IE. The issue is in the javascript being used in the login page. Whenever the timezone is changed on the device, to the one where the Daylight savings time are applicable, the "new Date()" call in the javascript returns the correct DateTime object for the first time. By correct i mean after adjusting the Daylight savings changes. but next time onwards the same call "new Date()" returns the DateTime object without applying daylight savings changes. function GetClientUTC() { var now = new Date(); alert(now); var now2 = new Date(); alert(now2); } For e.g. I changed the time zone on the handheld to GMT +02:00 Bucharest, the time displayed on the handheld is 4:14 PM. Now when this function gets executed for the first time "now" returns correct date time with time as 4:14PM but "now2" returns datetime with time as 3:14PM. Next time when the same function gets executed both "now" and "now2" return the same datetime with time as 3:14PM. Note: 4:14PM is after adjusting for daylight savings and 3:14PM is without.     - Data exchange between CE device and desktop PC Hi, we have some applications for Pocket PC that collect data in CE databases. On the desktop PC we have applications that prepare the databases and retrieve the data after sampling. We did this via RAPI and it works wonderful (until CE 5) and it was very easy for the users of our software. With CE 5 RAPI became "bad" and with CE 6 the CE databases will not be supported anymore. AFAIK there is no possibility for RAPI to read data from and write into SQL server CE and/or the new EDB. A data exchange based on file transfer is not a real alternative for us. How did you exchange your data? Is there anywhere any useful information? I read a lot of stuff at MS -- about IIS etc. -- but it was really hard to understand that. (In other words: I didn't understood much.) Additionaly our PC solution is not an C# or C/C++ application but it is made with Smalltalk. I am developing camera application based on Windows mobile 5.0 smartphone. I made two different transform filters and use these with Smart Tee filters. My filter graph's structure is below: Video Capture Filter -> Trans Filter 1 -> Smart Tee -> Encoder -> file Writer -> Trans Filter 2 -> Renderer I connect each filters manually(using Connect method in IFilterGraph interface) and When i try to connect Smart Tee's preview pin and Trans Filter 2, data abort is occurred in quartz.dll. But I have never had anything to do with pocket pc / windows ce. However I am now faced with the task of purchasing a barcode scanner device (something like a symbol branded unit) that runs pocket pc 03/05 and writing an application that can scan in the data from the barcode scanner on the end of it, pump it to a text/portable sql file, doing checks to see if its been scanned before or not ect...     - Multiple partnership problems with ActiveSync 4.1 There have been quite a few posts on multiple partnership problems with ActiveSync 4.1. I have had my first customer report this problem to me and I find that I can replicate this problem using the PocketPC emulator in VS2005. Here is a really easy way to do it. Go in to VS and open the Device Emulation Manager. Select the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Emulator and Connect to it (right click, select connect.) Then Select and Connect to the Windows Mobile Pocket PC VGA Emulator. You should now have two emulators on your desktop. Go into each emulator and make sure they have unique names. (on the emulator, Start->Settings-> System Tab -> About -> DeviceID tab -> Device Name field) I named mine PocketPC1 and PocketPC2. Now go to the Device Emulator Manager and right click on either of the connected emulators and cradle it. It should bring up the PocketPC Sync Setup Wizard. I hit next, deselect all the options and click Next, then Finish. This should set up the partnership for one of our emulators. Right click on this emulator and Uncradle it. If you look at the Microsoft ActiveSync Dialog on your desktop and select File->Mobile Device you will see your device name there (i.e. PocketPC1). Now go and do the same procedure for the other emulator. When you look at the ActiveSync dialog Mobile Device list, you will notice that PocketPC1 has disappeared and has been replaced by PocketPC2. In my opinion this should not happen and did not happen in ActiveSync 3.7.1. But it gets betterâ?¦ now go back to the other emulator and Cradle it. The Sync Setup Wizard will pop up again, even though we just did this on the first go-around. Click Next and you will get this â??Computer Nameâ?? Dialogâ?¦??? It will say that â??Your Pocket PC is already set up to synchronize with another computerâ?? and want to you enter a name to distinguish this computer from your other computerâ?¦. Even though we are trying to sync on the exact same computer! This sure looks like a bug in ActiveSync to me. Or is there some sort of setup option that I am missing here??     - Dell X50v VGA problesm? I've got a group of people beta-testing changes to an application of mine, one of which is proper support for VGA displays. All seems to work well in most cases, but with one particular person using an X50v there seem to be problems centered around one particular property sheet dialog (of several in the app) and a list view control that I can't duplicate and that others using other VGA-capable devices (2 of 4 others in the group that I've heard from, at least) don't see either. The property sheet (or the pages in it, not sure) seem to be misaligned down by about 10 pixels, causing a vertical scroll bar (the minimum targeted platform is PPC 2002, which explains that). The list view has occasional problems with the horizontal scroll bar not showing up when it should, which seems to be corrected when I go through a column resize/update cycle. Has anyone else seen anything like that on one of those devices, or any others? If so, any ideas how to get around the problem?     - Problem with SystemDateTime function Hi, I'm writing a C# application for the PocketPC 2003 platform but have problem with the SystemDateTime function, if I call it through OpenNETCF or through a DLL. So my PDA is at the time GMT+1 Paris, and sometimes when I want to resynchronize the date time, the time is wrong. For example, I obtain one hour less or more than the real time. Does anyone know this problem ? What I have also is that if I make a warm boot of the PDA (the RAM is kept), I have always one hour less than the real time when I call "SystemDateTime" function. Now if launched and if user presses h/w enter key then get the o/p Form Level KeyDown Return. Works as expected. But after launching application if one would tap on any of the on-screen buttons using the stylus and then hit the hardware ENTER key; now the event does not fire at all. Have confirmed this behavior using the Debug mode. How does one make sure the Form Level KeyDown event always fires ? Basically need to force one of the buttons to be the default buttons when h/w keyboard enter key is pressed. Is their a better method to do this ?     - modify ndis packet in passthru driver Hi, I have installl the passthru sample on pocketpc 5.0. Now i want to modify Ip packet header from received packet in ProtocolReceive. So i copy all received IP packets from miniport and indicate that up, in order to test it first. I have the function calling before FilterModifyPacket to check for Ip packet. But it seems not work corectly, i can't connect to wlan. What have i doing wrong ?     - GPS on MIO A701 Hi, we have developped an application to mesure surfaces using GPS (no, it is not very precise, but it gives an idea of the size en shape). Until now, all pockets with all kind of GPS antennes worked (Bluetooth, CF, built-in). A client has bought a Mio A701 with built-in GPS antenna, and we are not able to get it working.     - Icon on menu as legend I want to make a legend for a map by creating a menu item legend. That would have all categories of layers (geography, restaurants, ...) of the map. Each category can then expand showing all individual layers of the category (Cathedral, ...). I know how to create the menu part. But can I also use icons for the legend items (a blue square could stand next to "Water" for example).     - VS2005 hangs after installing WinMobile 5.0 SDK I've got a problem after having installed the SDK 5.0 with VS2005: when I want to create a new project (both using "File>New Project" and "File>New WebSite") VS2005 hangs, and the only possibility is to kill the app using task manager.     - Media player 10 ActiveX controller in PocketPC 2003 SE application Hi all, I'm trying to create an application for an iPAQ that uses PocketPC 2003 SE. The application should use the ActiveX controller provided by Windows Media Player 10 SDK. I've installed the WMP SDK, the PPC2003SE SDK and eVC++ 4.0 SP4. I've followed the instructions on http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmplay10/mmp_sdk/embeddingtheplayercontrolinanmfcproject.asp. The wmp ActiveX controller isn't found in the "Add to project > Components and controls..." dialog, so I use the "Add control" button to locate and add the wmp.dll from c:\windows\system32. Is this correct? I've got a suspicion that the control added should be the wmp.ocx, but when trying to add that one, I get an error message saying "Failed to find desktop version of control in registry. Please verify that this control has been successfully registered on the desktop." How do I register the wmp ocx so that eVC++ finds it? Do I need to reinstall the WMP 10 SDK? However, after adding the .dll file to the project, a WMP icon appears in the toolbox of eVC++ and I'm able to add it to my form and assign buttons etc to it. But when deploying the application to my Pocket PC, the WMP component isn't there and the buttons have no effect. Is this because I use the .dll instead of the .ocx?     - Synchronize Mail After multiple posts I am still no further: I am trying to synchronize email from a POP3 account programatically. In 2003 SE this uses the messaging app. People have suggested simulating a send/receive. I have done this but this is unreliable as after connecting, the menu item becomes Disconnect and so one must disconnect and the Connect. Since the Disconnect may take time it is difficult to determine when to start the Connect. Other suggestions are to pass parameters to tmail but no one seems to know what these parameters are. I would prefer to use the mailtrns.dll transport as this seems to give the most control, but I seem to be instantiating the callback incorrectly. Does anyone know how to do this. I have tried to do this as follows: I get the ONESTOPFACTORYFUNC and can call the IMAILSYNCHANDLER without a problem. I cannot seem to get my callback to work. The callback calls the correct methods within the class that I create (I can stop it in the debugger inside the calls )but throws an exception "Datatype Misalign" on return. If I omit the Addref method from my callback it calls Progess and I can see that the incoming parameters are also incorrect. I assume that the way I create this class therefore is incorrect. I simply instantiate the callback using new ... - Should I be doing something else as it seems the parameters are not passed in the way the class is expecting them. My callback class looks something like this (just the first few lines included for brevity) public: CMailSyncCallBack(); ~CMailSyncCallBack(); HRESULT STDMETHODCALLTYPE QueryInterface (REFIID rif, LPVOID* ppobj); ULONG STDMETHODCALLTYPE AddRef(); ULONG STDMETHODCALLTYPE Release(); MAPIMETHOD(RequestSync)( LPCWSTR pszProfile, DWORD cbCookie, LPBYTE pbCookie ) ; etc.... I am new to PPC development, and am running a PPC application on my laptop
using the emulator run from eMbedded Visual C++ 3.0 in eMbedded Visual Tools
3.0 - 2002 Edition. In the Platform Manager of the emulator, I have set
Serial Port 1 to COM3, and Serial Port 2 to None. When I run my application
on the emulator and connect COM3 to another RS232 port transmitting at 19,200
baud, I see data received in my application, but it looks like the baudrate
setting of the emulator is wrong. Can anyone tell me how to set the emulator
to correctly receive/transmit at different baudrates (e.g. 19,200)?

Hi,

I suggest that you stick to real hardware. I (personally) have never been
able to get the emulator to provide reliable serial port emulation.

There are some newsgroup threads on this (try Google groups), and some
people claim to have had success.
