    - Hooking or subclassing a window Hello, Can someone help me in away to do global subclassing in Pocket PC? I'm trying to intercept all WM_SETTEXT and WM_GETTEXT messages for all the edit controls in the system. My application requires that when an application tries to access the data from its (edit or richink) control to change the pass a modified text. This is used to translate from one language to another. This is could be done using Hooks in Windows but it is not supported Pocket PC. How do you accomplish the same thing in Pocket PC. Remember, I'm trying to do global subclassing for all the richink and Edit control in the system. SO when application creates an editbox, i want to be able to intercept all it TEXT messages.     - determining system font used for window caption ? does anyone know how to get a handle to the system font used to draw the window captions (in non-fullscreen windows that have WS_CAPTION) ? my first idea was to capture WM_NCPAINT and look in the hDC of the non-client area of the window, but WM_NCPAINT (0x85) is not defined in any of the Pocket PC SDK (although it's referenced), and dialog window procedures don't get called with WM_NCPAINT!!! note: i don't think using a hard-coded font would be a good idea, since the font is probably different in various localizations, so i would like a programatic way to get this font.     - RAPI File Copy with VB 6 I am trying to copy a file from the PPC to the PC using RAPI. I have found two examples of how to do this but I am having trouble. The first example is form MSDN http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307256 It works only for files that don't have a space in the file name. For example, it will copy the file \Data.txt but not \Program Files\Test PPC\Data.txt I really liked this example because it shows how much of the file has been copied. This is important because the files I am copying are a few megabytes. The second example I found is at http://www.unsupportedsoftware.com/ce/dev/vbrapi.htm This problem with this files is that it does not work for files over 4096 bytes. For files larger than 4096, it will skip some of the data between the peices that it copies. It copies data in peices of 4096 bytes so there are some bytes missing after byte 4096.     - Updating Pocket Outlook from Desktop I have an Access database that I have to keep all of the contacts. I don't have the option to use Microsoft Outlook and I also have to use C#. Here is what I have to accomplish: 1. Changes to the database get synched on the device 2. Changes on the device get synched with the database Here is what I have: 1. I can detect when the device gets docked (I am using OpenNetCF) 2. I can move file to and from the device programatically 3. I can keep an app running on the device that tracks changes to the POOM and one running on the desktop that keeps track of the database. On dock, I can bring the file from the device to the desk and process it and send a new file upto the device to get updated. I am wondering, if it is possible to keep the database in synch with Pocket PC 2003 without having an app running on the device all the time?     - bluetooth connection ce 2003 and eVC I have a bluetooth device (GPS) that runs with canned programs on a Dell Axim X30 which has a built in bluetooth receiver. The canned program pops up a Bluetooth Browser screen from which I select the GPS device. I would like to access the data stream from the device. I've read everything I can find on making the connection, but I have yet to see something I can duplicatge. My best guess is that I have to use CoCreateInstance to get a handle to the IObex interface, but I don't know what the arguments to CoCreateInstance should be. Am I on the right track?     - Cannot set SSID hi all, I am currently writing code for an application on PPC 2003, and I have one small, but serious problem for wireless connections. My application will allow user to scan and find APs and PCs with 802.11 card, and connect one of them. My code works well when scan the network: it will return a correct list. When I try to establish a connection (I only tested ad-hoc connection so far), it has following problems: 1) if I turn WZC on, it cannot connect to desired computer (or ad-hoc network); 2) if I turn WZC off, it does connect to the computer, but I cannot send msg to that computer with Winsock 16 seconds after the connection. The following is the steps for connection: 1) set network infrastructure mode (OID_802_11_INFRASTRUCTURE_MODE) 2) Set authentication mode to Ndis802_11AuthModeOpen(OID_802_11_AUTHENTICATION_MODE); 3) set WEP status to Ndis802_11WEPDisabled(OID_802_11_WEP_STATUS); 4) set ssid (OID_802_11_SSID); Is there any errors? T2 plays the intro music for the app while T1 is busy loading stuff. I would like the user to be able to adjust audio volume while the intro music is playing.     - Anyone gotten secure sockets to work on PPC 2003? I have an implementation of non-secure sockets that works fine. It's when I try to get secure sockets to work that I am having difficulty. So far I have tried to connect using SSL_FLAG_DEFER_HANDSHAKE with SO_SSL_PERFORM_HANDSHAKE after the connect. I have also tried without a deferred handshake. Nothing seems to work. Either the PERFORM_HANDSHAKE step fails or the connect runs through without the SSL handshake taking place. This is basically what I have tried (defer_handshake is used to test the two different options described above): socket() ioctlsocket(FIONBIO) setsockopt(SO_SECURE) WSAIoctl(SO_SSL_SET_VALIDATE_CERT_HOOK) if(defer_handshake) WSAIoctl(SSL_FLAG_DEFER_HANDSHAKE) non-blocking Connect() if(defer_handshake) WSAIoctl(SO_SSL_PERFORM_HANDSHAKE) I have also tried to disable non-blocking IO before performing the handshake. Following the MS docs doesn't seem to help. I can send source code if you like. I can ping the ipaq from the server and vice versa, I can also browse webpages on the server via PIE. However my C# client generates a "No such host is known" SocketException, when connecting to the server. Since I support orientation awareness in the upcoming version, I want to allow rotating the screen, too.     - Problems with software-based input panel (SIP) in CE.Net 4.2 I try to use SipShowIM(SIPF_ON) and SipShowIM(SIPF_OFF) to popup and popdown the input panel. According to the help and MSDN, the API requires coresip.lib. In the StandardSDK package, there is no such liberary file. I copied one from Platform Builder 5.     - Debugging an ArmV4I target using EVC4 (sp3) Hello, I'm attempting to write an application for a 3rd party BSP that only supports the Armv4i target. I added the Armv4i build target into each of my projects, and changed the /MACHINE link specification from ARM to THUMB. So all compiles/links properly, but I'm unable to debug. When I attempt to start the debugger, a dialog box appears stating something like "unable to find a debugger able to debug the attached device. The debugging session cannot begin". I've seen other references to this dialog box within the discussion threads, but I have not found a solution. Does anyone know of a way to get around this problem? I read that the .NET CF support is still stuck at version 1.0, while you can use .NET CF 2.0 for Pocket PCs... 2) I keep reading that the new emulators are real ARM images of the OS, is that true also for smarthphones? But the real question is: I keep reading that it's now possible to connect from ActiveSync to the emulator...but how can I do this? I tried but I don't know the correct sequence of steps to take...if I just run the emulator and ActiveSync, and try to get them connected, ActiveSync doesn't find anything of the physical ports, of course...so what?     - Remote Execution of a Pocket PC Executable Hello, I need to remotely execute a program on a Windows CE device (a pocket PC) from a desktop PC using Visual Basic 6. I am trying to use the function CECreateProcess in the RAPI.dll, but I cannot get that to work. My call is thus: CeCreateProcess(CESourceFile, "", 0, 0, False, 0, 0, 0, 0, lpProcessInformation) with CESourceFile being the path and name of the executable on the WinCE device. It goes right through that statement without returning an error, but it doesn't actually run the program. I have CEReadFile, and most of the other RAPI functions working, just not the CeCreateProcess. Also, I would like the program on the PC to wait for the execution of the WinCE executable to finish before going on. Does anyone know how to use the CeCreateProcess properly, or know an alternate method for running a remote WinCE program (and waiting for it to finish)? Thanks!     - MessageBox inconsistencies with localized WM2003SE when you call MessageBox with MB_YESNOCANCEL (or MB_ABORTRETRYIGNORE), the dialog displays 3 buttons in the english version (e.g. "Yes", "No" and "Cancel"). in some localized images, it displays only 2 buttons at the bottom, and adds an (X) at the right of the windows title-bar (which, i suppose, stands for the missing "Cancel" or "Ignore" button).     - secure FTP (SSL/TLS or SSH) We have developed a FTP client for Pocket PC 2002 (patched with EUU3) with eVC++. It is based on InternetOpen, InternetConnect, InternetReadFile/WriteFile (for download), ReadFile/InternetWriteFile (for upload) as indicated by MS to overcome a bug in FtpPutFile and FtpGetFile. Now we need to add "secure FTP" features, ideally FTPs (ie using SSL/TLS) or even sFTP (ie using SSH). I searched in several websites and groups but didn't find anything useful. Does the OS support secure FTP (it does for HTTPS with INTERNET_FLAG_SECURE)? How? If not, is there any library, commercial or open source (even if it needs porting), that does the job? Is it better (I think of portability) to work with sockets instead of using (bugged) Wininet? Would be easier to implement the "secure FTP" for MS Mobile 2003 or WinCE 4.2.     - interesting bug with screen-rotation and non-full-screen modal dialogs i found an interesting bug with on-the-fly screen-rotation (e.g. using a mapped hardware button) when the screen displays a non-fullscreen modal dialog. a simple example of non-fullscreen modal dialog is a MessageBox dialog. when a MessageBox (or any non-fullscreen modal dialog) is displayed, rotating the screen causes the underlying full-screen window (owner of the modal dialog) to disapear (i.e. not be repainted), until the modal dialog is exited. so you can end up seing the application that is under yours, for example. in fact, this is apparently caused by a bug in the shell, which does not send a repaint message to the window procedure of the underlying window (which owns the modal dialog).     - Unable to Receive SMS in INBOX While sending the sms from pocket PC using c# program to any mobile phone ,the message is not received in the inbox,instead it is displayed on the mobile with an option of saving "Yes/NO". - if yes, how, as by default I don't think it's possible? Maybe there are
some tips to make it possibe?
- if no, do you know if Borland plans to do this in the near future?

Thibaud,

Although Compact Framework apps can be retargetted at the desktop, it
doesn't work the other way around. So I doubt that Delphi.Net could create
.NetCF apps. For a definitive answer, I'd suggest asking on a Delphi
newsgroup since they may also be able to provide some insight into their
future plans.
