    - Pocket DataBases 2002/2003 Good Morning Group I developed an application last year with a .cdb that was complian with PocketPC 2000/2002. When I attempt to load that same app o PocketPC 2003 devices I'm thrown an error. This issue was resolve b running the Database conversion wizard.     - Grap a file from ppc I am using c# and have developed a program which creates text files of given information. I want to know how to place the ppc on the cradel and by clicking a button within a form on the pc(developed in c#), grab the file from the ppc and place in a file on the pc. On the desktop, the Remote Desktop ActiveX Control is provided with Windows XP, and if you have Windows 2000 or 98 you can get it from Microsoft's download center by searching for "Remote Desktop ActiveX Control". It's named tswebsetup.exe. I get an empty form - so far so good. Without changing or adding anything I proceed to build the solution.     - Wifi PPC Network Question With more and more PPC's becoming wireless (Wifi) equiped is it possible to run any sort of 'peer to peer' type network between them with just an access point ? at the very minimum at the moment I guess I would need a notebook server to provide the network 'service' ?     - Autorun on a Toshiba Hi, I'm trying to autorun an app on a SD Card with aToshiba e755. My app works fine when launched manually. It launches automatically if I copy it to \Flash ROM Disk\0\Autorun.exe. So I'm sure the app itself is ok. I put it on the card in \2755\Autorun.exe. It never launches when I insert/eject the card. I tried 1824 and other CPU Type values from WINNT.H with no success. Am I doing something wrong ? Anyone knows if/why this feature would be disabled on this particular device ?     - LoadImage API problem I'm developing using evc++ 3.0 non-MFC. I'm trying to use LoadImage to load a bitmap like so: m_hBitmap = HBITMAP( LoadImage( NULL, szTmp, IMAGE_BITMAP, 0, 0, LR_LOADFROMFILE ) ); but I'm getting error C2065: 'LR_LOADFROMFILE' : undeclared identifier. The API description indicates LR_LOADFROMFILE is indeed valid and it says it is defined in winuser.h but when I scan my system for winuser.h files containing 'LR_LOADFROMFILE' the only ones I find are associated with VC++ 6.0. The ones associated with evc++ 3.0 do not define this symbol. I googled the web for information but other than some Japanese sites I can't translate, I found nothing. Anyone know what's going on?     - Leak in Pocket IE using ATL control? I am developing an ActiveX control using ATL. The control is to be embedded on an HTML page. The control is used for displaying images and uses the IBrowser interface to navigate to other pages. Everything works great except that the Pocket IE's memory usage grows unacceptably (> 16K) after each refresh of the page containing the control. I have tried the same code on both 2002 and 2003 and the results are identical. I have also seen several KB articles about leaks in Pocket IE, but all the "fixes" seem to require using Platform Builder. Does anyone know of any problems with ATL controls in Pocket IE? Is there a work-around?     - eMbedded C++ setup initialization error I'm student learning visual basic .net, and would like to write some applications for pocket pc 2003 Per MS recommendations, I've installed Active sync 3.7.1. I then need eMbedded visual C++ before adding the SDK that allows me to code in VB. I've downloaded the eMbedded Visual c++, but when I go to install it, I repeatedly get "Set up initialization error. There is insufficient memory to run set up. Try closing an y open applications or restarting windows." All applications are closed. I've rebooted, 26 GB reamin on hard drive. 500 MB RAM should be sufficient. I know I can initiate /Syncnow from the Desktop side, the problem is we are using a WLAN, not the cradle, so this will not perform a remote sync.     - Multi Threads and messages boxes Hi all I have an evc4 application that runs on two/three threads. The main one and the 'scanning' one and a printing one The 'scanning' thread sits waiting for data from the serial port and when it gets some it checks is the data 'correct' and if it is save/display if not show an error. This all works fine. There is a loop in the thread which runs 'forever' untill a global var is change to false by the main thread. I now whish to ask a question and await user response before proceding. At the moment this MessageBox is 'buried' deep in the scanning loop. I've also tried it 'outside' the scanning loop but within that scanning thread.Restarting the scanning loop after the question has been answered. The problem is that when the question is on the screen if data comes in on the port it is ignored ... fair enough this is ok .... but after the loop has restarted the data is still 'ignored' ? Has anyone else done any work with WaitCommEvent and messageboxes ? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong as I am new to C programming. I've paseted my readthread code at the base of this message incase it helps explain things ! ;) One important point if NO data is received whilst the messagebox is onscreen then after the question has been answered the program works correctly.     - XML between SQL Server and SQL Server CE over Internet We're going to have PocketPCs out in the field, connected to the server at HQ over the internet through GPRS. It is assumed that they'll be connected only some of the time, so each has a client VB.NET app and SQL Server CE. When some important configuration data (the structure of a survey) - held in the central SQL Server - is modified at HQ, I want those changes to be transmitted to the PocketPCs by XML. I don't want to use replication or RDA, because we're committed to sending the results back in XML format. How can this be implemented? I want the PocketPCs to receive XML with the survey structure. At that point I can get it into the local SQL Server CE database - I reckon it would be quicker during the bulk of the application's stuff to use a database instead of messing around with accessing XML data at run-time. But when the chages are made at the server, how can this trigger the transmission of the XML, and what happens if some of the PocketPCs are not connected?     - CE_RXOVER flag I have a problem with RS-232 serial port (COM1) on PocketPC (ARM) - GetCommProperties(..) function returns strange results: maximum input buffer size (dwMaxRxQueue) is 1 byte! Current input buffer size (dwCurrentRxQueue) is 0, and it's impossible to set another buffer size using SetupComm(..) - buffer size remains zero bytes. So I guess it's impossible to receive any data. Even ClearCommError(..) function says the error flag CE_RXOVER is set (1). And it doesn't matter - whether the cable is attached (cbInQue = 1) or not (cbInQue = 0). By the way, everything is OK under Desktop PocketPC Emulation (x86) on Win2000 with the device attched to COM1. Device - PocketPC iPAQ 3760. Non standart using of RTS (always 0) and DTR (always 1) signals. I am using another thread for reading data (checking for data to arrive with WaitCommEvent(..) function). So, what's the solution? How should I receive data? Incidental questions: 1. What's the difference between CE_OVERRUN and CE_RXOVER flags (ClearCommError(..) function)? 2. Why there is no problem with ActiveSync while using the same cable and PDA? 3. I can NOT set user-defined baudrates in spite of the information given by GetCommProperties function. I can set only standard baudrates, otherwise it remains the same (or 9600) while no error is returned. So may be there is a problem with a driver or particular device? 4.     - TcpDelAckTicks for PPC Does the tcpdelackTicks registry work for CE? it says it does, but I can't get it to work. When NOT using activesync, I copy a file to the PPC and I see the PPC do a ACK for generally every other packet, just as it is documented. BUT when doing Activesync copy to the PPC, the PPC will only ack at EVERY .2s interval. So if you change the Windowsize registry to 1460 (the MSS), you will get 1 packet for every .2s, or 7k / second >>>> slow. I don't know why activesync is making the tcp behave so differently. I also see in the SYN packet, the it doesn't use the TimeStamp options, that it does when I use the other file copy. Not sure if this relates??     - Need a serial port Hi, We wrote some software for handhelds in eVB (And that was fun...) for use within our business. All worked fine with handhelds available then such as the Jornada. Our software uses the serial port to communicate with other equipment. We are looking to upgrade to later handhelds, but these all seem to be coming out with USB only interfaces. Can anyone suggest how we work around this? We cannot use USB because the equipment we connect the handhelds to only has RS232 serial available. USB / serial adapters we have looked at are for PC's and have associated installation software (And would be a bulky mobile setup anyway). Getting touch with manufacturers is hopeless. There may even be serial connection available, just not promoted. We are looking at the Dell Axim or IPAQ specifically, probably the Dell based on price. Thanks in advance.     - Releasing a Connection Manager connection in PocketPC 2003 Hello, I am trying to use ConnMgrReleaseConnection to close a connection that I establish with ConnMgrEstablishConnectionSync. On PocketPC 2002, this causes the connection to close, but on PPC 2003, the connection stays open. I don't want to go through the trouble of using RasHangUp, especially since I don't want to close the connection out from under anyone else that's using the connectoid at the moment. On PPC 2002, the system just kept a ref-count and closed the connection once all programs using it called ConnMgrReleaseConnection. It may be that the connection just isn't meant to be closed in the new OS, but doesn't that cost people money if they're paying for connection time? The reason I mention this point is that when you click on the little connection icon in the title bar, the bubble that pops up doesn't have any "Disconnect" button like it did in PPC 2002. Is it possible to change the sampling rate used by the Voice Recorder control on Pocket PC 2003

Mine is stuck at 11025, but I'd like some flexibility on this if possible

CM_VOICE_RECORDER doesn't include this parameter
Doesn't seem to be any way to change the default sampling rate via Settings
Perhaps there is a registry entry for this???

Try this:
Start > Settings
Choose "Input "
Choose "Options" tab
You should see a drop-down box with many options for voice recording.

I know...not the first place I'd look either.
